One wonders where Austin Booker is left in all of this. He's still young, and maybe he can come on this year, but it feels like his window to impress was only open a very short time. I know DA likes em bigger, but as a pash rush specialist, Booker could have a role on this team IF he is productive. He'd better bring it quick or he's gonna be gone before he even got a chance to get his footing. Pressure is on, Booker. Prove us all wrong!

I think he was talking about Campbell playing upright, which is what I see too. around 2:35?

I’m just saying the fact we gave him $10mil per year means to me that Dennis Allen will be using him to his strength. IMO that is playing downhill around the LOS. TJ understands route concepts and is very good getting to his landmarks in zone coverage and taking away the quick passes. He’s not going to cover anyone for an extended time zone or man. What does that mean for what they intend to do in scheme and in the draft? Some of what Allen wants to do is coming to light with yesterdays press conference where he talked about moving Kyler Gordon to safety on some plays. Really just finding ways to keep him on the field more often. More importantly he was clear that pass rusa comes from the IDL. DE are there to contain and squeeze the pocket (my inference). Definitely changes my thoughts on DT draft targets and might put players like Norman Lott on our radar in Rd 2 or 3. He was also clear about Dayo moving inside to pass rush in some situations. We’re going to need a good third DE for those situations. Is that player on the roster?

First off nobody wants a LT worse than Jones. That’s the minimum expectation. This decision is not just Banks vs Jones. If we think Banks floor is to be as good as Jones then we also don’t have to extend Jones’ contract. The choice then is Banks + $5-7 mil. That’s enough to get a decent starting safety. Where it gets tricky is what the team thinks of Kiran. Can he get to that same floor this year or next? Can he get to his ceiling which is higher than Banks? Toss in the injury recovery and how that affects the first four games. At risk is giving up drafting a potential Pro Bowl player at another position. We could go the insurance route with the thought to move Banks inside down the road. You don’t always know how that will work. I say that having just listened to Matt Miller talk about how upright Banks plays and the issues that will cause him if he moves to guard. Miller had some interesting things to say about Warren vs Loveland too so I’ll link it here in case anyone else wants to hear it.

Solid 2 year deal.

I know that he would make a great OG, but Im saying why consider that when he plays LT really well? I mean, you could probably take any really good starting LT in the league, and put them at OG and theyd be even better because LT is harder, you have no help. But why would that be any kind of negative on them playing LT? That they could be a better OG doesnt make them any less good as a LT than they are? Like saying Banks is a top notch LT, but he would be even better at basketball so we shouldnt draft him at LT? And Im saying, my opinion, Banks is a really good LT right now, and has TONS of untapped potential. I think with Roushar's help, if he is dedicated, the sky's the limit for him. Hes good now, but he has traits to be even better if he polishes up. And he's young. As to competing, yes. Whoever is the best player should start of course. If Banks is everything I say, and Jones shows up and kills everyone and dominates, then of course he is the starter. But Im saying I think that is less likely than Banks being that guy.
-
I think a lot of writers made Banks a preferred guard at 6'4 and 33" arms. Then at the combine he measured 6'5 and 33.5" arms. Let him compete with BJone and KArmedje, I want the cream to rise.
-
I think by the tape, Banks is a considerably better LT than Jones, and will grow. I dont think we will move him to OG. He would do well there too, but hes got the goods to play LT at a high level, so why move him inside?
-
Outstanding. This is basically my preferred draft, although i dont usually find a trade down, so id have to choose between Saywer and Fanning. I also oscillate on which DL it'll be in the 2nd. But this is the way.
-
Of course. Any player that kicks ass on the field earns the respect that this is currently their level. Nothing said before can ever overshadow what they do on the field, or put on tape. The only caveat to that is that a couple good games doesn't overshadow a long history. If you do it, and do it consistently over multiple weeks, or the whole season, especially when against good opponents, then hell yeah.

Yes, I was probably over speaking in passion in regards to the #10 pick, Warren will be a starter in this league somewhere. I just dont think he will shine in the NFL. I dont think his game translates to the kind of numbers he had in college. Id jump at him in the 3rd round, thatd be a no brainer, so his real value is somewhere between 70 and 10. Id say below 20, maybe lower. But I also want to repeat that Im just projecting how the player I saw on film will do in the NFL. So how their current toolbox will apply. There will be some players who will learn from NFL coaches and become a lot better. You can guess at who those will be too based on attitude, flashes of tools that they arent consistent with etc., but some player in the first round will shine and prove any doubters wrong. So Im not saying I KNOW Warren is gonna just be average in the NFL, but if I had to bet right now, that'd be my bet. I also think he's a bit of draft smoke all the GMs are using to disguise their true intentions. Maybe he will go early, but I wont be shocked if Warren slides on draft day.
-
I'm not routing for Warren just wouldn't have a problem if we took him. I heard an interesting stat today. 50% of all first round picks never get second contracts with the team that drafted them. Not that they all are misses just that they never lived up to expectations.
-
I don't take PHX comments to mean Warren isn't a good player just that he's not an elite talent. Plus you can get similar talent later in the draft. I don't see the All Pro skillset either. He might get there if he's on that right team that can get him the numbers (ala KC) but he's not Kelce either. Kelce was a unicorn as a runner at his size. If you watch Warren's highlights closely you'll see often how quickly he gets run down. It might be a big gain because he was wide open. I disagree a bit with PHX in that I think Warren is good at many things he's just not great at any. He'd make our roster better just not as good as other picks we can get at 10. Those other picks (i.e. Banks, Nolen) don't have to be All Pro either to make the team better than it would be with Warren, at least that's how I see it if the trenches are solid.
-
I would gladly take that draft. If Warren or Jeanty are there, it would enhance trade assets, especially if two teams want a player. My first choice would be to trade back no matter who is there. The more 10 to 50 players we can get the better. 76 is still a good spot especially for a RB or TE that could help our team. These two make good points but lots of pro and con for Banks. You have to look at all opinions. I pay more attention to scouts and they are divided on where Banks goes. It's that division of opinion that causes me to question how good he might be. Great players usually have a consensus of opinion. My concern is not that Banks is better than Jones, it's is the difference enough to use #10? A lot of scouts think he will be playing OG eventually, the premise is do you want a good LT or a pro bowl LG?
-
Thanks for sharing. These two sold me on so many guys. Jeanty if there is a no brainer... unless Dallas offers a deal you cannot pass and I'd love that bc RB is deep. They hyped up Warren pretty good... and ill take their word. As for OT, I still feel it is a need regardless of Thuney helping, it will also weaken his play if he has to help Jones. Trade 10 Dallas to 12 and 76: *1-12. Banks LT 2-39 K Grant DT 2-41 K Johnson RB 3-72 J Sawyer DE *3-76 H Fanning TE

So for all the Braxton haters, if he plays well this year that still doesn't change your mind? He was 21st out of 141 OTs in the NFL . He did have 5 sacks and 7 penalties on 719 snaps. Banks had 935 snaps with 1 sack and 7 penalties. I will be interested to see what Banks first year stats are and Braxton 2025 stats are to see how much better banks is. Braxton has been a average LT, Kiran A was drafted to compete and possibly take his job. I expect a LT drafted but just not in the first round.
-
I have watched highlight films and 2 games, it's not my opinion he's a blue chip player that's almost every scouting services lists as the 6 in this draft. Ben Johnson commented on him and DA said he would not like to scheme against him. I don't know if he is or isn't but I forgot to check on here before I made that outrageous statement ( an all pro type), I apologize.
-
Oh yeah, I forgot to include him, he's amazing too. I would love to us go R1 LT Banks, R2 DL/S, R2 HB Kaleb Johnson, R3 TE Fannin, and pick up WR Jack Bech and then go for depth. And in the 5th round TE Oronde Gadsden is pretty good too!

There is an athletic prospect from Bowling Green that I thought could be a LaPorta type. I haven't watched any tape, but only read his draftbuzz profile. Harold Fanning Jr https://www.nfldraftbuzz.com/Player/Harold-FanninJr-TE-BowlingGreen https://www.nfldraftbuzz.com/Player/Sam-LaPorta-TE-Iowa
-
and Courtland Loveland is a true middle field matchup problem, just like McMillan is. Either one could play the LaPorta role better than Warren. And I know Johnson isn't going to replicate his Detroit offense here, but Warren doesnt really do anything that well. he just has big production numbers. He doesnt body people to get the ball well, and he certainly doesnt get away from anyone. he doesnt break well at the top of his route. He's just a poor man's Kmet. At least Kmet bodies people. They both run like Frankenstein. lol
-
I tend to agree that he isn't top 10 hype and more 20-32, only because this draft isn't deep. I think the Mitchell Evans from Notre Dame can be a sleeper bc their QB would rather run the ball than throw. He could be taken round 5.
-
If any player is going to be a HOF player for example, then yes of course you want them. But I dont see it with Warren. I see a lot of hype, but the film doesnt back it up. I don't even think he is the best TE in this draft. I think he had production in college because they had no WRs on his team, so they funneled the ball to him a lot, and schemed him open, but youre not going to hide him in the NFL. I didnt see him beating guys for balls, or blocking a ton, I didnt see spectacular catches, I saw a rumbling guy how found dead spots in zones and got the ball a lot. Kmet is better. It's another case of people (writers) reading stats and not watching film to put it into context. Same with Omarion Hampton. And again, it's not like i have some secret talent at film evaluation. ANYONE can see it if they watch the tape instead of reading the numbers and what other writers wrote about the numbers. If you watch a game that Tyler Warren is in with a 12 year old and say nothing, the kid is not begging you to buy his jersey at the end of it. that's as simple as this is.
-
I have no doubt that Braxton Jones will be motivated this year, but i dont think even his best will be good enough to be the LT on this team going forward. hes been a great value, and a team player when the roster sucked and holes were everywhere, but now that so many are filled, the spotlight turns to his position, one of the most important on the field, and hobbling along with a substandard player that needs Thuney next to him, and growth and motivation to project to succeed seems too much. I think the likelihood of Amagadje being our starting LT in 2 years is much greater than Braxton's and so of course I think we are spending a high pick on LT. I personally hope it's Banks at 10, but it could be Ersery at 41 for example.
-
Its so funny. The media narratives go round and round and every day its a different player. But if you watch the film, you don't need to be a genius, you just see it. And then you're where the media will end up months later from the beginning?

Just seen we're having a private workout with Banks, that could change our first round choice.
