I remember. It was during the Cutler era, when 75% of our cap was going to the defense. Too many square pegs and round holes. It was maddening.

Slightly off topic, but no matter which Mock Draft Simulator I use, it seems like the Bears can come away with 4x Day One starters and another 1-2 contributors (backup Safety, LB, etc).
-
Pathetic. "Smartest guy in the room" behavior by our former staffs. Sometimes it's not that hard. Sometimes you just let a guy play his position.
-
For me, it's (in order) Banks Jeanty Graham Nolen Williams I know that's five, if you need three, then just take the first three But I'd be happy with those five. If you factor in Abdul Carter Travis Hunter Cam Ward then you gotta hope 2 more players go before us (Sanders? Campbell? Membou? Warren?) to get one from that first list. I don't want to be stuck holding the bag on Tyler Warren or Membou. I think this is why we see all the articles about us wanting Warren, to shine him and our interest in him up for a possible trade down.
-
I think the first three picks will be (in no particular order) HB, DL/S, OT Either: R1 Banks R2 Kaleb Johnson R2 DE, DT or S OR R1 Jeanty R2 Ersery R2 DE, DT or S OR R1 DE or DT R2 Ersery R2 Kaleb Johnson
-
I think Brashard Smith is the one guy might go a little later, so I’m trying to factor that in.
-
I’ve only got two for 10 Walter Nolen Mykel Williams.
-
I was going off of the guys they had in for the top 30 visits. They all seemed to be at worst late 2nd rounders.
-
Ben Johnson was not that high on Swift in DET, so I think RB may be a bigger priority than we now. I could be totally wrong there too. Depending on how the draft plays out, there may be a solid RB available in the 3rd. One other wild card is Milroe. If somehow Milroe or Dart go in the 1st, or both, that would slide 1-2 positional players down for the Bears early 2nd rounders.
-
I think it could just as easily be a 3rd or 5th round pick. Deep RB draft.
-
Which I won't like unless everyone surprise hates Jeanty and he slips to the Bears in the second round (he won't). The Bears would be better served waiting until the third round and getting Skattebo.
-
I think of that one pool-jumping dickhead. Or how Tice fell in love with Jamarcus Webb. Falling in love with players, particularly when it doesn't perfectly align with on-field production, is a fool's errand. Drafting for NFL players should be 95% on-field production, with the rest being heavy on combine.
-
Yeah, I'm all for recycling. I just can't stand how they immediately misplaced multiple players and thought it would work out. I don't care to look back into to Talkbears history, but I remember breaking this down at one point and the Bears had an entire OL comprised of guys playing at other than their primary position.
-
They will definitely be taking an RB in the first 3 picks.
-
I haven’t seen the full list of 29 players but what I saw two days ago didn’t have a single safety on the list. I still think we’re drafting one on day 2.
-
Can someone explain the Tyler Warren thing to me? I get that he is very good and a "weapon" but we currently have what I would say is an above average and possibly great TE that we just need to use. I don't really see Warren doing things that I don't think Kmet can do. Plus, I get that Ben Johnson will use the personnel he had, but even if Warren is used in both 2 TE sets and split out wide, Ben Johnson has really never used a 2nd TE much in his offenses and hasn't even really schemed a lot to get WR3 and WR4 touches, so how much are you really going to get out of Tyler Warren in his offense? While he was there, the Lions never really went after a good TE2 or invested heavily on a WR3 or WR4, so I don't really see him doing it now.
-
I'm trying to find it but I read where one of these Edge players didn't have very many sacks but had 53 pressures. I'm thinking it was Pierce, buy can't find the article. It could have been Williams.
-
If the GMs get nervous, maybe 3 QBs go in the top 9. No matter how it drops we're getting a good player.
-
sure does! Also sadly, a WR prospect killed himself the other day. Kyren Lacy. I was looking at him too. Man crazy shit happens.
-
Reports are swirling around the possibility that Derek Carr may need surgery and be out indefinitely. With the Saints at the 9th pick that puts a QB in the mix at their pick.
-
Great article, I like the ones that give you NFL comparison to give a better idea of the player. Interesting that Membou/ Darnell Wright. Ersery/ Orlando Brown Conerly/ Slater Banks/ Vera-Tucker Vera-Tucker is playing RG for the Jets, I find that odd.
-
There is only 2 days left for pre draft visits . Aaron lemmings has 29 players listed for visits. He has no first round OTs unless Conerly slips to the first round. Does this mean we are not taking a OL at 10? It's possible, but if I'm reading the tea leafes, it's saying no.

https://mcshay-report.beehiiv.com/p/how-to-build-through-the-trenches-in-the-2025-nfl-draft-87f29cafaf3f5b51 Thought this was pretty good by Tod Mcshay. Focused on the oline and interior dline. Real nice things said about a few of our favorites - Banks, Simmons and Minny LT all had good things said. Simmons concerns around work ethic mentioned - basically most talent LT, but injury issues and some work ethic stuff cited.

My pick: Banks Stewart Mykel Williams
