  1. I just meant that they both were incarcerated during the off-season, not that they committed similar crimes.
  2. If he was extremely cheap maybe. Otherwise I dont know. I will eat some crow and say I was a big advocate for us to draft him and I was completely wrong. He is the type of receiver we need, just not THE receiver we need. Also, think this means they might look at Johnson in the draft? Jokes aside it may be a good pick for them.
  3. When jamal Lewis was in the same situation he got 4. I have a feeling Tank might get the whole season though. Hopefully not though.
  4. ya that was brutal. His is up there with the all time worst with Ozzie Osbourne
  5. That was pure comedy. Im gonna think deep down that he was mocking Cubs fans.
  6. The Denver Broncos select Anthony Spencer, DE, Purdue The Cowboys are on the clock...
  7. Aikman/Smith/Irvin Manning/James/Harrison Jackson/Taylor/Wade See where Im going with this?
  8. The Jacksonville Jaguars select Ted Ginn Jr. WR OSU. Finally get a burner to go with their giants. Bengals are on the clock...
  9. Source: Judd Zulgad, Minneapolis Star-Tribune Minnesota Vikings New WR Bobby Wade hasn't received a playbook yet, but the newly signed receiver has already made an impact among his teammates. So far quarterback Tarvaris Jackson likes what he sees from his new teammate. "He's kind of taking over as a No. 1 guy, being a leader," Jackson said. "He's a good guy. He's around the locker room talking to everybody. Just a cool guy. ... As far as ability goes, he's good."
  10. Hester It's long been rumored, it's been hinted at, it's been lobbied for, and it's been perennially denied -- but now, an NFL player has finally achieved the near-impossible: meriting a perfect 100 in one of Madden NFL's proprietary skills ratings. Chicago return man Devin Hester has attained perfection in the "Speed" category, gaining the maximum 100 rating in the upcoming Madden NFL 08 for his amazing wheels. Hester, who set an NFL single-season record with six returns for touchdowns in his rookie campaign of 2006, has been known as the "Windy City Flyer" for his unique ability to turn on the afterburners and bring a kick back for six points. His 100 rating tops the previous high of 99, given to such players as Deion Sanders, Randy Moss, Charles Woodson, and a couple others. Hester racked up his six scores on three punt returns, two kick returns and an incredible 108-yard return of a missed field goal attempt against the New York Giants. Additionally, he took the opening kickoff of Super Bowl XLI 92 yards for a score, making him the first player ever to open the Super Bowl with a touchdown on the very first kick. Hester has been known to have been lobbying members of the Madden NFL 08 development team for the top speed rating. He's certainly deserving of the honor; after all, there's pure speed and then there's football speed, which measures how fast a player can go weighed down with pads and equipment while 11 men on the other team try to bring him down. As he showed many times during his breakout rookie season, Hester's football speed is top-notch, and now Madden NFL 08 will pay him the ultimate respect by giving him a perfect rating in that category. "That's just about the best thing you could have told me," Hester said with a huge smile, when informed of his new Speed rating. "It's an honor -- I don't know what to say, really." How does he feel about being rated higher than his friend and mentor "Neon" Deion Sanders, who was once timed at 4.19 in the forty-yard dash and returned a kick or two in his day? "Deion has told me a bunch of times that I was as fast as he was," Hester replied diplomatically. As fast as he is, the return man -- who also plays cornerback for the Bears -- still has some room for improvement in other areas, but like most NFL players that also play Madden, when we inquired about some of his other ratings, he was less than satisfied. "Well, since you're asking, my defensive awareness was low -- too low," he said, "and I definitely need to break more tackles. On a few of my returns last year I feel like I showed what I can do in that category." Hester will just have to live with those "subpar" ratings for now, and really, the Breaking Tackles rating may not mean much in the end -- with a 100 Speed rating, who is going to catch him in the first place? Im an avid Madden Player and have noticed over the years some guys seem faster than others even when they have the same rating. I was wondering if they were gonna do anythin got make hester better at returning kicks in the game.
  11. On Comcast the menu said it was on today and when I put it on it was poker. So I dont know whats going on with that.
  12. OLB has to be on the list, and if we end up trading Briggs it should be first on the list.
  13. I agree. His biggest problem was his drop when he was under pressure and that was when he was throwing off his back foot. If he can read the defense and all ready be back in the pocket and have more time to step up and throw I think it would help him. I know Ive read that Kruetz doesnt like running shotgun but it may really help the offense.
  14. Chicago Tribune By John Mullin Tribune staff reporter Published April 4, 2007 The Bears would like nothing better than to have Rex Grossman play quarterback like Hall of Famers Joe Montana and Troy Aikman. And to help him do so with some regularity, the Bears are committed to using the shotgun formation he used successfully in college at Florida. "I'm excited about doing that," Grossman said. "I like it. It's a little different pass rush for the defensive ends, who don't know where I'm going to line up. If someone happens to come free, I'll be able to maneuver better because I'll have my feet set rather than dropping back and then having to escape." The shotgun is not a favorite of offensive coordinator Ron Turner. "I don't know if they have me talked into it," Turner said, laughing, "It's something we talked about a year ago that we were going to look into but just never got to." Grossman, after taking about six weeks off for vacations and to attend a couple of weddings with wife Alison, has been spending a lot of time at Halas Hall with new quarterbacks coach Pep Hamilton. The former 49ers assistant had access in San Francisco to tapes of Montana and Aikman doing particular drills that helped them develop in ways that could benefit Grossman too. "To see that and some of their game film and how they took that to the field has been interesting and I'm excited about doing it," Grossman said, citing footwork, rhythm and balance along with moving in the pocket as attributes he can develop further. Grossman was honored as the recipient of the Bears' Ed Block Courage Award on Tuesday at a luncheon at Maryville Academy in Des Plaines that raised money for Maryville's educational programs. The award is voted on by teammates, who witnessed Grossman's courage in coming back from a succession of injuries as well as bearing up under intense in-season scrutiny. "I've never seen a guy go to a Super Bowl his first full year as a starter and go through as much flak as he did," linebacker Hunter Hillenmeyer said. "So I'm happy to see him get the recognition. For him, unfortunately, this is almost a `cumulative' award." Despite the battering Grossman took physically and emotionally last season, he says he learned a lot. "The benefit is winning two playoff games at home and there's no substitute for experience," Grossman said. "When you're in an overtime playoff game at home, it's crunch time and you need to make a play, having done that before will give me more confidence down the road. "When we reach [the Super Bowl] again, next time we're going to win it." Copyright © 2007, Chicago Tribune
  15. Yahoo Chicago Bears Team needs: OT, CB, WR, TE, RB Overall pick/round: 31 (1), 37 (2), 94 (3), 130 (4), 168 (5), 221 (7), 241 (7) OT: Fred Miller is 34 years old and fellow tackle John Tait is 32, so an early play for someone like Joe Staley or Tony Ugoh is possible. If they wait until the third round, names like James Marten, Julius Wilson or Adam Koets could surface as players that fit into the mold of what they are looking for up front. CB: This would be a pro-active choice as the Bears could lose both Nathan Vasher and Charles Tillman to free agency a year from now. And even though Devin Hester is determined to prove his worth as a corner, his responsibilities could be restricted to return specialist … and/or wide receiver (see below). There has also been some talk of moving safety Danieal Manning outside, but that would require him to make better decisions while the ball is in the air. The depth of the cornerback position could allow them to make a move on someone either early in the second round or as late as the fourth round and still find a competent defender. WR: For all the criticism of Rex Grossman, fans and media coverage fail to mention that the Bears have had a very average set of receivers over the past few years, even with the injection of speedy Mark Bradley and versatile Bernard Berrian. The front office has shied away from using top picks on this position, but if one fell to them at No. 31 they would likely evaluate their options. They have added a veteran safety and defensive tackle in recent weeks, so pushing receiver up the draft board is a definite possibility. However, there has also been some talk internally about moving Hester to the offensive side of the ball, but whether it would be a permanent move has not yet been decided. TE: The 37th overall pick could be right around the range for Arizona State’s Zach Miller, but that might be too high for the Bears considering their other needs. However, if they wait too long – as was the case last year – they could find themselves eyeing a list of lower-tier tight ends that would be hard pressed to earn a final roster spot. RB: Cedric Benson has had some durability issues, plus he has put the ball on the ground and has failed to finish his runs with the same type of intensity he showed while in college. Aside from Benson, they would like to use Adrian Peterson mostly on special teams and Gerald Riggs, Jr. is their only reserve back on their current roster. As a result, investing a mid-round choice on a change-of-pace back like Darius Walker is a consideration. Though, if they address this need earlier, Florida State’s Lorenzo Booker is a perfect fit.
  16. If the deal was set as the Redskins offered it Id be glad that the talks are over. That deal doesnt help us very much.
  17. Im glad to hear this. I was hoping we would get a shot to see what this kid could do.
  18. But if we lose Briggs were gonna have to address OLB in the draft and those would be the best 2 candidates for it.
  19. If that Bills deal is true its much better than the Redskins one. We could get Olsen at 12 and see if Poz or Beason are still around at 31.
  20. I just want to get this over with so we can move on and know where we stand in the draft.
  21. That would certainly give us a lot moe options in the draft.
  22. Do the Redskins operate under the same salary cap as the rest of the NFL?
  23. Thats a great deal for Briggs but unfortunately for him thats not what the Bears are concerned about. I dont care if we trade him and he gets nothing. If Washington doesnt sweeten the deal i doubt it gets done.
  24. Well we know Harris isnt going anywhere. Im assuming Dusty will stick around. We havent signed Scott yet. I doubt we would sign Adams if we werent gonna keep him and I think Tank is the second best tackle we have so it could play out in many different ways.
  25. A lot also depends on if Oakland addresses qb before the draft. They may still try to trade for Rodgers or maybe take a look at Carr or Green.
