  1. Ya, I just read it wrong, if Quinn were to fall there someone would trade up for him Im sure.
  2. I dont know about those 3 guys. We have three quarterbacks and we know theyre happy with them. We just added depth to our safety and our D line is getting crowded as it is. They would need a OLB with an early pick if we lost Briggs. I wouldnt want to pick sixth. I would like the pick if we used it to trade down and get more picks though.
  3. 5 DT's seems like a lot even though Tank will be gone for the beginning of the season.
  4. No. I was joking, i assumed thered be a good chance of that matchup being the Monday Night Game, its Sunday afternoon though.
  5. If we lose Briggs this is what our draft has to look like: OLB, TE, OL for the first couple of picks. Who would we be trading up for with the six pick if we wouldnt trade it? I like the idea of trading down for a mid first and a second, if we could get that, which Im still skeptical about. Then we could take someone like Poz in the first and we would have two good second roundpicks and could look at OL and Miller at TE, who might slip down farther.
  6. Today on Mike and Mike they were talking about Briggs and they said his new threat was he would sit out the first ten games and come back the last 6 so he gets paid for those games and we cant slap him with the same franchise tag as this year. This does give him some leverage because more than likely they wouldnt play him in the remaining six games ig he had sit out the first ten and we would still have to pay him. My guess is they trade him soon. John Clayton didnt think the bears would trade him still though.
  7. Id go for that if Ne would do it. The question is would they. They dont have many glaring needs and I dont know how they are on cap space but I couldnt imagine theyd wanna pay top ten money.
  8. In San Diego. They just said on CSN that thats the season opener. Welcome to Monday Night Jaws.
  9. I dont know about this trade for only moving up. I would want to accumulate a few picks. We would need an OLB is we trade Briggs, and that is a definite.
  10. If they did this they would have to trade down. We'd absolutely have to get Poz but we might be able to get him with the 31st. too bad there wouldnt be a way to get Poz and Olsen. Talk about a monster draft.
  11. If AA is handed the starting SS job, which it seems he will be, I would rather have Brown at FS than Dman. Brown is one of the best defensive players on the team. Im sure theyll work out some kind of rotation to have everyone getting reps. Who do you want to be the SS if you want DMan at FS?
  12. On Cold Pizza about a week ago they had an NFL analyst on that said he talked to JA, which I have no idea how credible it is and he said they were gonna move Brown back to FS is hes 100%. Ive actually read or heard about it a few times. Thats why theyre gonna move DMan to corner.
  13. If Tommie Harris is in there we should be more than fine. Especially if AA and MB are on the filed at the same time.
  14. We also have Harris who could play either safety position if needed. We need to bring in some youth at safety but not in this draft. Were fine for tis year and more than likely next.
  15. Carr would never sign here when we wouldnt pay him that much and there are teams like Oakland, Minnesota, Cleveland and Miami that need starting qbs.
  16. Or might it be a good idea to take a look at Domanick Davis to back up Benson? he should be relatively cheap and it would eliminate one more need in the draft.
  17. I agree. I also think though that AP is gonna get most of the passing down situation reps because hes an outstanding blocker and above average at reading blitzes.
  18. LAKE FOREST, Ill. – Adam Archuleta made the rounds Thursday at Halas Hall, meeting some of his new teammates and catching up with coach Lovie Smith and defensive coordinator Bob Babich. After one nightmarish season in Washington, the veteran safety is thrilled with being traded from the Redskins to the Bears in exchange for a sixth-round draft pick. The deal was finalized Thursday when he passed his physical. Lovie Smith coached Adam Archuleta for three seasons with the St. Louis Rams from 2001-03. “I’m very excited,” Archuleta said during a conference call with the media. “I just feel great about it. I think it’s a perfect fit. It’s where I belong. I’m looking forward to getting back to playing good football and playing like I should.” Archuleta was benched by the Redskins midway through last season after signing the richest free-agent contract by a safety in NFL history. With the Bears, the six-year veteran hopes to revert to the form that he displayed in St. Louis when Smith and Babich were Rams assistants. With Smith serving as Rams defensive coordinator during Archuleta’s first three NFL seasons, the Arizona State product started 12 games and helped St. Louis reach the Super Bowl as a rookie in 2001 before registering career highs with 116 tackles in 2002 and five sacks in 2003. “The way I learned to play football in the NFL started with this system and the philosophy and how they do things here,” Archuleta said. “It’s really what I believe in. "Even being here and talking to Bob and Lovie about the defense, all of my old memories came back, and it just feels good. I know the defense and it really suits what I bring to the table as an impact player. It really capitalizes on my strengths and allows me to go out and play football the way I’m supposed to play.” Archuleta is especially excited about reuniting with Smith. “He was one of my first mentors in the NFL and I experienced a lot of success,” Archuleta said. “I like the way he handles his players. He commands a lot of respect and he gives you the sense that he really believes in you and he really cares about your success, and it’s not superficial. “He has tremendous leadership qualities and people want to follow him.” A converted college linebacker, Archuleta is a hard-hitting safety who excels in run support close to the line of scrimmage. He is expected to start at strong safety with veteran Mike Brown possibly moving back to the free safety position. “This defense is built on 11 guys doing what they’re supposed to do,” Archuleta said. “One person isn’t more important than the other person and it truly stresses the importance of team defense. When one guy is not in the right place, then you’re not going to play well. When everybody is playing hard and playing physical and playing fast, it’s a beautiful thing. "This defense is built around a team concept. My role is to plug in there, do my job, bring a physical presence, make impact plays, have fun and win a championship.” Archuleta had the same intentions last season, but he struggled in part because the Redskins played him well off the line of scrimmage. Although he admits that he hit rock bottom, Archuleta insists that he doesn’t regret signing with Washington. “I learned a lot about myself,” he said. “There are a lot of life lessons that I learned about last year and I think that I’m a better person and better as a football player because of it. My time there was a negative, but as I look back I think it was a positive thing for me.” After stumbling with the Redskins, Archuleta feels that he has something to prove in Chicago. “My reputation in all phases took a beating,” he said. “There’s a great deal of humility that was learned last year. There are a lot of detractors, but at certain points in my life I’ve had detractors and I’ve always come out ahead. “I definitely have a lot to prove to everybody, but one thing that I have always done is that I’m going to bet on me. I know that none of the outside stuff really matters. I know what I can do and I have a pretty good feeling what I’m going to accomplish.” With only three interceptions in six NFL seasons, Archuleta conceded that he must improve his ball skills. But he takes issue with critics who complain about his coverage ability. “It depends on which way you look at it,” he said “The biggest impact that I have on a football field is my underneath stuff, and if you want to compare apples to apples, I don’t think there are many safeties who can do what I do underneath. “I haven’t gotten a lot of interceptions in my career. There are a lot of factors for that, and obviously that’s one thing that seems to be lacking and I need to find a way to get my hands on more (passes). (But) if you look at my career up until last year—if you really truly break down tape—I really don’t get beat a lot and rarely was I out of position until last season in Washington (when) things kind of spiraled. “People like to hang their hat on that and say I can’t cover. I don’t believe it and I think if you ask Lovie, he doesn’t believe it either. It’s just that what I do well and where I make my impact is different than guys who make their impact by playing 20 yards off the ball.” One positive that resulted from not playing on defense during the second half of last season is that Archuleta avoided the bumps and bruises that are customary at the safety position. “I basically got two months rest,” he said. “That was one of the blessings that came out of last season. My body didn’t take a beating, whereas my pride and my ego did. So I feel really energized to go out and play well. I’m hungry and I feel good about this upcoming season.”
  19. Count Bears quarterback Rex Grossman among those who'll miss departed running back Thomas Jones. In his first interview since the Super Bowl, Grossman told Comcast SportsNet on Tuesday that he owes a debt of gratitude to Jones, who was dealt to the New York Jets earlier this month. ''As a young quarterback, the hardest thing to pick up are protections and protection responsibilities, and he's just done an amazing job to help my development and clean up some of the mistakes and blocking some of the guys he's not supposed to block,'' Grossman said. ''Not only that, but just being a tough, physical runner and having an emotional attitude in the huddle, he was a great leader.'' As for Cedric Benson, who will inherit Jones' starting job, Grossman said, ''He's an amazing talent who could very well be a perennial Pro Bowler and rush for 2,000 yards and do a lot of the things that are expected out of Chicago Bears running backs.'' Grossman struggled with the rainy conditions in the Bears' 29-17 Super Bowl loss to the Indianapolis Colts, throwing two fourth-quarter interceptions, losing a fumble and being sacked for an 11-yard loss after dropping the ball on a key third-down play. ''There were about four, five plays I would have done differently,'' he said. ''Obviously, in that wet weather, getting that snap was a little difficult. ... There was an interception [on a pass] to Bernard Berrian that I wish I'd have gotten out about 15 yards further. The ball kind of slipped out of my hands a little bit. ... I wish I would have handled the weather better.'' Asked about his goals for next season, Grossman said, ''I want to have at least half of the amount of interceptions [20] that I had [in 2006]. So my goal is to have single-digit interceptions and 30 touchdowns and go from there.''
  20. Bobbles Wade is on Minnesota now.
  21. Im not gonna pass complete judgment on the offseason till the draft. We have potential to have reloaded in one offseason with one move and the draft. If Briggs plays, which I suspect he will, were returning our whole defense with the addition of AA and a healthy Mike Brown and Tommie Harris and even Dusty Dvorack. D. manning and Marc Anderson also have some experience under their belts. Im glad SI is bashing us. We can go into the season with a chip on our shoulder as opposed to being everyones favorites to walk through the NFC.
  22. With everything going on with us with Tanks impending suspension and losing Boone and not having Scott signed YET does anyone think this guy is ready to make an impact and even stay in the mix when Tank comes back? I didnt know much about him before we drafted him but I think he might be a nice addition to the line. I was wondering if anyone with any insight on him thinks he can contribute next year.
  23. They reported today on Cold Pizza that they talked to JA and he said they absolutely dont plan on parting ways with Brown. They said they are gonna restructure his contract with an injury clause. They also said they are more than likely gonna move Brown to free safety.
