Who's better? Mike Brown or Bob Sanders?
DrunkBomber replied to Bears4Ever_34's topic in Soldier Field
I agree, its not even close. Bob Sanders was just the hot player at the moment the Colts d picked it up. Mike Brown could of been an MVP candidate in 01, and he got snubbed for the pro bowl -
Very good read. I feel pretty much ecaxtly the same as this article. I look forward for success for some years to come with our core.

Who's better? Mike Brown or Bob Sanders?
DrunkBomber replied to Bears4Ever_34's topic in Soldier Field
Overall, Brown is significantly better. Theyre both good at run stopping but Mike Brown is a great leader out there, hes good against the pass too. Hes a ball hawk and is one of the best playmakers in the NFL. Look how many games he has won for us over the years. Throwing injuries in the mix makes it different. Dont forget Sanders isnt exactly a stranger to the injury report. -
No biggie, i dont watch the Pro Bowl really anyway, I hope this doesnt hurt him from getting in in the future though.
-
That doesnt mean he likes them, that just means he thought they were gonna win, which is more then most analyst gave us.

IMO not much needs to be changed. We were so close this year and I dont wanna blow the team up just yet. I hate Turner but the window for winning Super Bowls is small and we are in that window right now and I dont want to have to try to learn a new offensive system. I also think were gonna lose Rivera as well. I think we need to keep Briggs, get Harris and Brown healthy, try to get better at WR and TE and younger on the offensive line. We also really need a safety. The foundation of this team is strong and only minor tinkoring is needed.

Im getting to the point where I dont really care about Iron Mikes comments. Overall, he seems to have a dislike for the Bears and I dont really care about his opinions.
-
Losing Jones makes our offense worse, and the main thing we need to do to improve next year is to tighten up the offense. Getting rid of our starting back to back 1000 yard rusher does not help us at all.
-
I dont think it makes a difference but maybe it has something to do with Dungy and Smith being friends. Its still unnaceptable.
-
Were a better team with both of them and we have Jones cheap for one more year. If there was ever a situation where 2 players should decide it in training camp this is it. Its not like the number 2 guy isnt gonna get any carries. Its a huge benefit having two capable bakcs. Especially if one got injured.
-
True. The Bears are in an interesting situation IMO. Theyre obviously a defense first team and have a lot of money tied up there. The offense is a player or two away from being the highest scoring in the NFL. Our defense has shown the ability to be able to win games but I wouldnt be opposed to balancing out some of the spending on offense and brining in a big name, even it is Randy Moss or someone like that. Not TO though.
-
Honestly, i dont know if youre being sarcastic or not but something like this is what Im thinking. Maybe not Moss however. Based on what we do with Briggs we need to invest some money on offense. We have all our money tied in on defense and Benson and moose. We need some more skill players on offense. Moss might be a good fit because h shuts up when hes winning.
-
There are few coaches I dont mind seeing win if the Bears lose. Dungy is one of them. Guys like Bellicheck and BIllick are guys I would be more pissed off to see win. Congrats to Dungy and the Colts. Especially after the tragedy with his son.

Rex isnt the problem our team needs to address. We all know hes gonna be the starter next year so lets just deal with it and focus on things that are gonna change.
-
Im also gonna add...does everybody realize how much some of our receivers overacheived? Moose is not that good and he drops a lot of passes. Berrian had a breakout season but hes mainly a burner and not a 100 catch superstar. Who knows about Bradely, he could be good but we havent seen enough of him. Davis had a decent year and is very complimentary. Clark had some good numbers but hes slow and getting older. Both our running backs are nothing special and nothing that changes opponents gameplans, yet at least. What this team needs is a stud on offense, either a tight end like Gates, Gonzales or Shockey calibur, a legitimate number one receiver, not Moose or Berrian. A sure handed go to guy that is always reliable. Like how Manning has Harrison. Less then 2 years ago we were calling for recievers, tight ends, backs and qbs because our offense was terrible and our defense was ready. We drafted Benson, hes been ok but hasnt broken out to be a dominate player yet. We sign Moose after he has a career season and his numbers noticably drop. That pass thrown to him that got picked in the super bowl was a bad throw but he should of tried to knock the ball down, thats what star/great receivers do. Jones has overperformed and played well for cheap but hes not gonna take over a game completely and carry a team on his back. Weve been through a bunch of QBs and Rex is the only one that could do anything with these guys. There isnt much talent on the offensive side of the ball in Chicago, theres a lot of good players but nothing great. Thats what I think will make the difference for success.

I have a really good feeling that were gonna go into next season ranked really high and be considered a powerhouse all yar. If we can keep most of our roster in tact and bring in 2 or more capable players we should be ble to steamrole throught the NFC again.

The Official Off-Season and Draft Idea thread.
DrunkBomber replied to BearSox's topic in Soldier Field
I would say get rid of Turner but all that does is forces us to learn another offensive system. The main thing we need to at learst TRY to do is get Briggs back somehow. We also need to lock up Harris and one of our corners. I still would like at least one big weapon on offense brought in maybe at tight end. I know Clarks numbers were good but Im talking about a game changer type tight end. I think we keep Rex, keep Mike Brown and Keep Jones. I think we should try to keep Ogun but having them able to rotate really helps too. -
I like what we were doing at the end of the year. id like to see us keep Jones as the starter and have him and Benson sharing carries and slowly get Cedric more and more and let him develop his blocking a little more. Jones is cheap and wont get us anything in a trade, why not let them both contribute.
-
This is insane. We are still a Super Bowl cpntender immediately going into next season. Some of you want to bring in a new qb to learn the new system? Develop timing with the receivers? Face it, Rex is the quarterback of this team and next year hes only gonna get better.
-
Ive thought about it. During the world series it was so much different too because not only did they have to win one big game byt they had to win a total of 11. With the exception of the game I went to agaisnt the ANgels, everytime I went to a bar to see the gae they won.
-
I just called bw3 and they actually open at 11. This is gonna be a long day.
-
Maybe we can hope Joe Thomas will be a bust where ecer he goes ad then sign him and hell flourish in our system.
-
I dont have work or anything and dont feel like going to the gym, reading about the game online is getting repetitive and theres no movies I wanna watch on right now. What the hell am I gonna do till tomorrow? Any ideas, what are you guys gonna do to make it through the longest day of the year.
