You could throw Bulger out there. Maybe even Delhoume
-
I love them both but there is no way Grossman or Berrian are gonna go to the pro bowl
-
I actually heard they were thinking of an exclusive Tony Romo versus the entire AFC game.
-
Not jack, but I wouldn't mind bringing in a flask to save some money. I got pretty rocked on the tickets as it is.
-
Very true. He was more then serviceable last year. They tailored the offense to suit an inexperienced quarterback, and he seemed to have a big problem with his accuracy but in time he could be a decent NFL qb. I doubt he gets many reps though.

Im going to the game on Sunday and was wondering if anyone whos been to a game this year could tell me if they're still patting people down?

Vikings safety blasts Grossman for trash-talking
DrunkBomber replied to DrunkBomber's topic in Soldier Field
I agree. If this wasnt the case I think this would of been a story after the first game or something just handled on the field. This is Sharper trying to rattle Grossman. -
Kruetz is pretty much a lock every year. Urlacher is pretty obvious. Gould should make it but hes not well known. Harris probably will even though hes dropped off, yes I know hes double teamed. Briggs will get in. Peanut will if he keeps it up. Hester for special teams will more then likely go.

Vikings safety blasts Grossman for trash-talking
DrunkBomber replied to DrunkBomber's topic in Soldier Field
I could understand where hes coming from. They were talking shit to him all game then he threw a game winning td and was excited. -
http://www.chicagobears.com/news/NewsStory.asp?story_id=2737 LAKE FOREST, Ill. – With a rant against Rex Grossman that would have made a professional wrestling promoter proud, Darren Sharper turned Sunday’s game at Soldier Field into a grudge match. Speaking to Chicago media during a conference call Wednesday, the Vikings safety blasted the Bears quarterback for how he reacted after throwing a game-winning touchdown pass in the first meeting between the teams Sept. 24 in Minnesota. “He is a confident guy and we sensed that from how he was running his mouth when he played us,” Sharper said. “He was very confident, so we’ll see how confident he is on Sunday. “He was running his mouth pretty much the whole game and he especially ran his mouth when he threw that last touchdown pass. He came over and said some things to my fellow safety (Dwight Smith) and a couple of our defensive players. So you know he is a cocky guy. "He is going to say those things. But just make sure he is not the guy who kills their season for them. So we’ll see what happens on Sunday.” Grossman’s 24-yard TD pass to Rashied Davis with 1:53 remaining gave the Bears a 19-16 victory in a battle for first place in the NFC North. The score came after cornerback Antoine Winfield had intercepted a Grossman pass and returned it 7 yards for a TD on the first play of the fourth quarter, giving Minnesota a 13-9 lead. “I probably said some things that I regret, but the whole game their DBs were talking to me, just really getting under my skin a little bit and probably more than I should have allowed it to,” Grossman said. “But they were just yapping the whole game. I threw the interception for the touchdown and Dwight Smith came up and smacked me on my helmet and was in my face. “It was just kind of one of those deals (where I was) facing all that adversity and (was) just so emotional that when we finally got the touchdown pass I probably went overboard a little bit with some of my emotions and some of the things I said. But it was in that moment. I regret it, but I had all that pent up inside that I had to let it go.” Likeable and generally easy going, Grossman admitted that what he did was out of character for him. “I don’t ever do that,” said the 2003 first-round pick from Florida. “It was the first time I did it all year. If something like that happens where someone’s on me the whole game, talking trash the whole game and then you make a play like that to win the game, I couldn’t help but say something. “It wasn’t really ever (directed) at Darren Sharper. It was mostly at Dwight Smith. Darren Sharper never said a word. I think it was more in response to backing up Dwight Smith because he turned his back. He wouldn’t let me talk to him. But I regret it and it’s hopefully a situation that never comes up.” Sharper said that Grossman’s actions were unprecedented. “I’ve never had a quarterback say the things he said before and I’ve been playing 10 years,” Sharper said. “I’ve gone against some wild and some cocky, brash quarterbacks. I felt like he stepped over the line a little bit. "A quarterback should never talk trash. That’s what I think. That’s just me because I am a defensive back. I don’t want any quarterback talking trash to me. He made the play and he felt like he could run his mouth. Anytime a quarterback opens his mouth, to me he is overstepping the lines. “When he threw that last touchdown pass, he made some comments, pretty much in-your-face comments. Everyone on our defense remembers what he did and how he was acting. He may have got caught up in the moment being a young guy. He made a big play for his team to win in a big game, so he decided to be a little brash and talk trash a little bit. (But) there is always another time you face a team and this is another time for us to face him.” As you’d expect, Bears center Olin Kreutz defended his quarterback. “We were all fired up after we won that game,” Kreutz said. “It’s the same thing as a d-lineman doing a sack dance or somebody dancing after an interception. It's all the same thing. It’s just all the way you take it. “Rex doesn’t have to explain what he does on the field. If Darren Sharper is mad about something, we’ll all be there on Sunday. No use issuing threats through the media. We’ll be lining up on Sunday. If he’s mad about it, he can do something about it Sunday. “Rex can talk whenever he wants. Anybody on the field can talk when they want and that’s where you handle it, on the field. That’s the problem with the NFL. Everybody always issues threats through the media and no one ever really does anything about it. That stuff, I’m kind of tired of. I’ve been here nine years and everybody’s always talking tough in the media and there are never any fights. If you’re going to talk tough, I mean, go fight somebody then." Kreutz questioned Sharper’s motives in discussing the situation with the media. “Obviously they felt a need to say something about it,” Kreutz said. “Maybe they thought we’d get scared and not come on the field. But we’ll be out there Sunday, and if they’re mad about it, they can do something about it then. “There’s stuff that I don’t like that people say to me on the field, but I don’t go tell the media about it. I say stuff on the field that I’m sure people don’t like, but to cry to the media, I mean, it’s a little embarrassing for them I think. They’re probably trying to get in Rex’s head and that’s not going to happen.”

Our offense has gotten too predictable. We need to play smash mouth, ball control football and use the pass to keep teams honest and if we need it at the end of games.
-
I was just saying if we needed to. Like if a guy got injured or they got worn down from too many carries. I just think we should pound the ball at teams and control the clock. Then we could bring back the element of surprise with our deepball like we had in the beginning of the year.
-
I think it would be nice to see an offense similar to what we did with Orton with the occasional deep ball and and having a little more confidence in an ability to score. If we controlled the clock more and kept our defense fresh by using both our backs, we could even use Peterson if we had to, I think we would be winning games with scores like 17-3 almost every week which is good enough. This pass first offense isnt gonna cut it.
-
Im glad you tried to dig up your old post to try to say I told you so but nothing has really changed. Grossmans mechanics crumble under pressure, the same way its been all year. Griese is a little more accurate Orton and would never be able to mount a comeback. The biggest problem is the pass blocking and play calling. Why are they passing on first and second downs on nearly every drive? Grossman isnt calling these plays.
-
Also, we play all our division games again at home except Detroit. Then we have Tampa, Cadillac hasnt done anything and Gradkowski would get eaten alive by our defense.
-
This isnt logical at all. You dont play musical quarterbacks going into your final playoff push. If anything we need Grossman to continue to work on his mechanics, which have gotten slightly better since Arizona, and we play more of a ball control type offense. If we play a similar offense to last years with the addition of being capable to go down field if needed and put our defense in good spots we could be really dominant again. I dont know if thats an option but I think it would work.
-
I put 4-1. We know we can easily handle our division rivals, I think Minni will be easier to deal with at home. I think we should crush Tampa and St Louis will be our toughest remaining game.
-
The problem is blatently obvious that its Rexs mechanics change when hes under pressure and his passes float. They should be having him practice his accuracy under pressure against live defenses all day in practice. We can only hope at this point Lovie and company are aware of how to fix it. I realize I defend Grossman a lot but its mainly because I think he is our best option and think if he can harness his talents with some consistency he can be great. Grossman throwing off his back foot is whats killing him. If the coaches cant work him through that we may need to figure something out in the offseason but for now he is our best option.
-
Griese signed here knowing he was gonna be a backup. If he was that good he would of been somewhere like Detroit/Oakland or somewhere that was shopping for a starter. The players all want Grossman out there too. He had people in his face all day.
-
Grossman. Theres a reason Griese and Orton arent on the field and why Griese is on his fourth team. Brady played bad too. Should the Patriots bench him?
-
Our defense is severely overrated now? SO for the record...you think Benson should get the ball every play, Grossman sucks, Jones sucks, our defense sucks and were gonna get owned by Romo and the Cowboys in the playoffs. Why do you even watch this team if you hate everything they do so much. I know its easy to go into Foxboro and beat the Patriots and that we should clinch the division next week and HFA soon but man does this team suck.
-
Im not that discouraged by this game. This team is one of the cream of the crop in the AFC and we got hosed by calls in the first half, played poor offensively and were in the game the whole time.
-
Thats a fumble for sure.
-
You realize were probably gonna get the ball back with about a minute back right. Im assuming theyll be running it
-
If you give Brady that much time hes gonna complete passes. Ok. Im gonna go out on a limb and call this the biggest third down of the season.
