  1. Texas actually, you may have him confused with his equally contributing brother Mike
  2. That doesnt sound like a good idea, we really dont need Mike Williams on our team, and Im pretty sure thats who we would of got
  3. Good numbers. I didnt even think to put this stuff in, but yeah, our numbers on special teams look extremeley impressive.
  4. Still nothing on the Enis model pose when he scored like his only touchdown of his career. He must of had that planned for years.
  5. It really is hard to consistently come up with first round stars though. there is so much stock put in these picks and the expectations are extremely high.
  6. Yeah, thats what I was trying to get at with the moving men out of the box. There will be big holes for these guys soon and if they try to move them back play action will always be there.
  7. September 19, 2006 BY BRAD BIGGS Staff Reporter Safety Danieal Manning said it is rookie awareness more than route awareness that helped him break up a big pass by Jon Kitna Sunday. Detroit was down 24-7, but it was the middle of the third quarter and the Lions had crossed midfield when they faced a third-and-three at the Bears' 45. Manning lined up in press coverage on speedy Mike Furrey and was in perfect position to bat the pass away and end the drive when the Lions were still somewhat in the game. ''In a situation like that I think they put emphasis on the rookie,'' Manning said. ''They see Nathan [Vasher], [Charles] Tillman, and Mike [brown] and they see 38, rookie. I anticipated they were coming to me. When the ball was thrown I was in good position.'' Manning also put a big lick on Furrey earlier in the game, walloping him at the end of a six-yard gain and bringing the kind of wood you didn't know if the second-round draft pick had. After an interception at Green Bay, and another strong showing, he could be bucking for a promotion after already taking Chris Harris' spot in the nickel unit. ''We think he's made huge strides,'' coach Lovie Smith said. ''You can see by the amount of time he is getting we would like for him to be involved. But I think there are plenty of reps for everyone.'' Smith said Manning's ability to play corner in dime situations, with six defensive backs, makes him most valuable right now as he still makes the adjustment from tiny Abilene Christian. ''I'm just trying to be prepared for everything they ask me to do,'' he said. STRONG SIDE SHOWING: Brendon Ayanbadejo did well in his start for Hunter Hillenmeyer at strong-side linebacker. He wasn't on the field a ton as the Bears were in nickel quite a bit with the Lions trying to play catch-up, but he showed good range and made a couple of nice hits. He didn't get much of a breather for his normal role on special teams, either. The only unit he was taken off of was punt return. ''I definitely left some plays out on the field,'' he said. ''There are some things I need to improve on. The game was amazingly fast. I think I have a lot of upside and I know I didn't play my best.'' Hillenmeyer was sidelined with a concussion, and if the Bears need to rely on Ayanbadejo again, it sounds like they will be comfortable doing so. He could be carving out a new role of sorts for himself. ''He handled it pretty doggone well,'' defensive coordinator Ron Rivera said. ''We're actually pretty excited about some of the things. He played very physical, which is important.'' HEALTH BEAT: Smith reported no new injuries coming out of the game, good news that means the entire roster is close to being healthy. Defensive lineman Israel Idonije (left ankle) was inactive again. He practiced all week and said he thought he would play. He could be active this week at Minnesota where his quickness can be accentuated on the Metrodome turf.
  8. Ill go with Arizona versus Tenessee, that would be a monster.
  9. Well if they were gonna win a game I think it would be this week.
  10. Offense- Needless to say we are all very excited about Grossmans performance this season and he has regenerated the offense. Also the Return of 2004 Moose and emergence of Bernard Berrians ability to match hands with speed on top of Dez Clarks combination of run blocking and pass catching. It was also good to see Bradley out there for some reps even though he didnt do much. Another big thing is the pass catching of the fullbacks. A qb with the inexperience of Rex having two check down receivers with the TE's, Gilmore looked good too, and FB's Runnels and McKie coupled with a very consistent veteran offensive line should continue to impress. The one thing lacking from my joy was the running game. I dont think there were many holes and I think both backs compliment each other well. I also thing the emergence of the passing game will open up the run very soon. We are in a unique situation on the ground with a true thunder and lightning which will be used more effectively as the season progresses. Defense- Ive heard some skepticism about the defense and Ive also heard the praises and Im a little in the middle heavily leaning towards the praises. They do seem to give up big plays but I think its because of them trying to make big plays and being very agressive defensively which has worked. I also love the pressure the d-line has been putting on qbs and think the trenches are the key to success on both sides of the ball, which is why going to Minnesota should not be overlooked. Urlacher has been him stellar self as well. I also love what the Mannings have brought and think Mike Brown is still underrated as a safety. The depth and speed we added to our secondary is what makes them better from last year. The only concern I have would be playing against a poised qb with a good offensive line because if the line doesnt get pressure they could get picked apart by a Peyton Manning or Tom Brady. That aside I am very impressed. I have been a long time Bears fan and will throw myself out there by saying I was extremely skeptical in '01 and '05 and dint really think they were elite. I will honestly say, this year is different. This is the best team I have seen them field in a very, very long time. I dont see a game on their schedule they shoudnt be able to win. Im not saying they go undefeated, but they should be in every game. The next two weeks are huge and 2 wins in the coming weeks should silence anyone who doesnt see what we see as fans of the beloved Bears. Heres to what could bring us Sox fans similair joy that we felt a little less then a year ago to the gridiron of Chicago and what could be a very special season!
  11. Thats worse then the SI, Madden cover and Yahoo sports writers picking you to win.
  12. Maybe you fogot what David terrell did for our offense, sometimes this is needed
  13. They asked Roy to comment about when he was signaling first downs when they were down by double digits and his response was " I dont look at the score" or something like that. Pure comedy.
  14. If he keeps up at this rate, which cant really be expected, defenses will start dropping more defenders into the secondary and our running game will explode. This could be a very balanced offense and could be nearly impossible to scheme against with a good play action selection. I have been an avid Rex supporter since draft day and am extremely happy for him.
  15. I have given my opinion on this enough, I just had to chime in to tell you steve that your sig put a big smile on my face and might be the funniest thing Ive seen in my whole life. Keep up the good work
  16. I do like watching Cedric in shorter yardage situations though and think he will become more of a consistant third down back.
  17. I care about the Sox, Im just glad I have the Bears to help me through the tough times.
  18. I agree Cedric should get more carries but but only in certain situations. I just dont think we should tinker that much with something that is working so well. If they cant find the end zone Im content with what Rex is doing anyway. The play action has been amazing.
  19. I dont think you make a change at running back when you put up over 30 points. Theyre both playing and its working
  20. Minnesota has done a good job keeping themselves in games. I think we definately should beat them but this should be our toughest divisional game of this season and then we are home against Seatle, who as of right now I think we definately should be able to beat.
  21. No way. He is getting his carries. Our running game hasnt been doing much but open up play action anyway. If it aint broke dont fix it.
  22. This should be bumped for a while for some comedy
