  1. At this point, whatever. Best case, Marinelli and friends can turn our defense around. The guys we had there were terrible, these guys absolutely cant be worse. If they cant and we have another bad year defensively and miss the playoffs and have under performing players than more than likely Lovie is history and he can take his gaggle of idiots with him. Lovies job is on the line so if these guys cant turn it around he will be gone.
  2. Im beginning to think Duke might not be available when we pick in the draft. I definitely am on board with improving the OL though. Im still pissed we didnt even attempt to sign Faneca. Also, as far as Im concerned we have no hands down starters at OT. Im not going to give Williams the benefit of the doubt at such a crucial position. I think we need a lot of new bodies at OL in free agency and draft.
  3. I would like Garcia but he has been brutal when not in a west coast offense i.e. Cleveland and Detroit. Other than that, maybe Ramsey or Luke McCown.
  4. His teams doing good, Ill give him that, but his numbers this weekend were terrible. Ed Reed should play qb, or whatever position he wants for that matter.
  5. Boldin is quite younger than TJ
  6. ??????????????? The Bears jerseys are some of the best in the NFL. You dont mess with that kind of stuff in Chicago. Now the Vikings/Bengals/Seahawks is a different story
  7. Thats tough for me, I love them both. From what Ive seen Peppers is a FA. I know Suggs is younger but Peppers is a true DE whereas Suggs is a 3-4 olb. Id be happy with either though.
  8. Look at Suggs. I wonder if putting him in a Bears jersey next year magically takes away his ability to get sacks.
  9. Ok let me rephrase it, they have the same ability to not stretch the field.
  10. IF Arizona were to trade Boldin this offseason, which is unlikely considering his contract status, it wouldnt be to the Bears. The Cardinals would want draft picks, not players like Vasher and Urlacher. Philly and Washington would offer more than we would plain and simple. JA is gay over draft picks and isnt the type of GM to give up 2 or more first day picks for anyone. Now think about Dan Snyder, he might be willing to give up a whole draft for Boldin, and the Eagles have already been trying and Im sure will continue to pursue a true number one WR as well.
  11. Chad Pennington is head and shoulders above Kyle Orton simply because he doesnt make mistakes. They have the same arm strength, but thats the only similarities in their game.
  12. Crumpler had 24 catches for roughly 250 and 1 td. They didnt use him at all.
  13. Everyone is clear there isnt a chance in hell this is going to happen right?
  14. You really think the Bears are the type of organization that would be willing to go after Shanahan? When I think of the Bears going after coaches I think of them going after more coordinators with no HC experience than huge names like Shanny or Cowher.
  15. Based on all the needs the team has and the fact that cutting Vasher doesnt do anything to help us with the cap they cant afford to sign that guy. Dont get me wrong, I would love it if they did, but he is going to get HUGE money and we already have very large contracts for Peanut and Vasher regardless if we cut Vasher or not it still hits the cap and adding this guy wouldnt just be too much money for the CB position, it would be WAY TOO much money at one position. That money would be better spent on Suggs or Peppers or some type of pass rusher. Its a bigger need and a good year FA wise to get one and we can afford to cut ties with any of our DEs financially to make room and not be affected to much. They also still need help at QB, OL, WR, FS, DL. Its just not a good year to go after a luxury over a need.
  16. Its a combination of a lot of things. We can certainly look to the beginning of the year. The penalty on Peanut against Tampa cost us a win against a good team. Olsens fumbles and Ortons erratic play against Carolina. Of course we cant forget the Atlanta game. Theres no excuse for what happened there but Im still pissed about the way the clock was abused to allow them to get that field goal off. I think personnel wise our defensive line was the biggest factor in not making the playoffs. Between having one of the most pathetic pass rushes Ive ever seen and the tackles not being able to keep the OL off our LBs our d line simply didnt get it done. They made our LBs and secondary look so much worse because of their poor play. The coaches stubbornness with sticking with the cover 2 without the pressure from the d line also cost us big numerous times. You cant run that defense with no pressure from the D line yet they wouldnt adjust. Kyle Ortons injury really affected the offense as well. They finally seemed to be clicking before he got hurt and when he came back he wasnt the same. Im not sure what we have in Orton but he was playing some garbage football towards the end of the year and making costly mistakes. I also realize it hurts we dont have a legit WR and we had a ton of drops but he was still making poor decisions and staring down receivers. Im glad JA acknowledges that we need stability at QB. I think the rushing game was better than anyone thought it would be despite inconsistent OL play. I also think Olsen proved the more he gets the ball, the more confident he becomes and the bigger impact he makes. He is going to have to be to us what Gonzalez is to KC in terms of our passing game if our offense will ever have balance until we can find some decent reliable WRs. Plain and simple Babich was terrible. He did about the worst coaching job defensively I can remember in recent history for the Bears. Even with decent offensive play during the year we couldnt string more wins together because of our defense. Considering thats where we have our money invested and thats the identity of the team, its simply unacceptable.
  17. None of the guys we would need to restructure would actually do it. As far as cutting goes, you cant just cut guys with big contracts because of the cap penalties. When you cut guys with big guaranteed money (which is anyone we would want to cut) you have to account for the dead cap space. Theres guys on our roster that some might want us to cut who would cost us more to cut than to keep them . You cant just cut a bunch of players with big contracts, it will destroy the cap. Its also difficult to trade for guys with big contracts because the same cap hits apply to the team trading the player. That being said, thats how we know the Bears arent going to be in the market for that corner from Oakland, its simply not gonna happen. I wouldnt be TOO surprised to see us at least talk to TJs agent but there is no way they are going to talk to Dallas about TO and its unlikely they would get involved with Boldin. If a WR of that caliber becomes available via trade for picks, you would have to assume that the Eagles or Redskins are going to outbid everyone. The biggest improvements the team will likely make in FA will be offensive line and a pass rusher (hopefully). It also sounds like we are going to go after a veteran QB, hopefully Garcia.
  18. I mentioned Ray Lewis. I was trying to use him as an example of a different type of MLB that everyone would know. Lewis is a more physical, downhill LB and can handle offensive lineman better and Urlacher is more sideline to sideline and coverage. I was just trying to point out how crucial the defensive line is in terms of Urlachers play.
  19. Exactly. Im sick of people complaining about Urlacher that dont realize how key the DTs are to his success. Which is magnified by his style of play. He isnt Ray Lewis, he is a side line to side line finesse linebacker (for the most part) and isnt at top form when guards and centers are getting to him untouched.
  20. They cant go after a guy like Asomugha considering how much money they have invested in the position already. You cant pay three corners that kind of money and even if we cut Vasher we would have the cap hit. I could see us drafting a corner or going after a middle of the road type guy in FA, just not the best one out there.
  21. Thanks but I wasnt involved in your argument, I was making a statement.
