CHICAGO -- Pittsburgh Steelers first-round draft pick Rashard Mendenhall was robbed at gunpoint along the Chicago lakefront early Monday, his mother and agent said. The former running back was not hurt in the robbery, during which two people stole Mendenhall's wallet and cellular telephone, his mother, Sybil Mendenhall, told the Chicago Tribune. Draft review How well did the 32 teams do in the 2008 NFL Draft? NFL.com has an in-depth division-by-division look back at the proceedings. "He didn't get hit or anything, he didn't get hurt or anything," Sybil Mendenhall said. "He's fine." Police spokesman John Mirabelli said a man and a woman were robbed at the lakefront around 2 a.m. Monday by two offenders, but declined to identify the victims. No one was in custody for the crime, he said. "It was obviously a scary moment," Mendenhall's agent, Mike McCartney, told the Chicago Sun-Times. "But he is fine. He is doing great. He said he doesn't have anything that is worth his life." The Steelers selected Mendenhall with the 23rd pick in this year's NFL draft. The 20-year-old Mendenhall skipped his senior year at Illinois to enter the draft. He was the 2007 Big Ten offensive player of the year.

I agree. AP is definitely gonna be in the mix. He isnt the guy you want to shoulder the whole load like he had to last year but he is definitely more than capable to get decent playing time.

Those were just a few examples. If you like Im sure I can type "police officer corruption" into google and give you a few thousand examples very easily.

Leinart was at his own house and as far as I know I havent heard anything saying those girls were definitely minors. This is such a different situation. As far as the Cop discussion goes lets just drop it. Its not the point of the thread and doesnt have any relevance in the conversation. If need be we can make a thread about it in the water cooler but I dont think that is a good idea either.

I didnt say theyre all like that. However, there are enough corrupt ones to give the group a bad name. I personally have seen off duty cops driving drunk, rear end someone, kick the shit out of him and then have other cops come and arrest him for resisting arrest. Theres the story about the cop who beat up that tiny bartender in Chicago and then had other cops go in their and threaten her. There was that video that surfaced less than a year ago where a kid actually put a camera in his car because he was getting harassed by cops and then he actually got the cop on camera threatening him. Giving people the kind of power police officers have is very dangerous and when there are so many examples of the power being abused it is very easy to lose sympathy for the group as a whole and thats the point I am at. I know theyre not all like that but until something is done to try and clean it up thats how I choose to perceive it.

Rex's accuracy wasnt really one of his bigger problems it was making too many risky throws. If anything, he has shown he can be pretty accurate if he is making smart throws. He also throws one of the most accurate deep balls youll see in the NFL today.

Complete non factor? Thats not fair to say. I really thing his fumble factored in the Super Bowl.

Thats true but cops like that idiot who beat up that girl in the bar give a lot of them a bad name. Honestly, despite them risking their lives at work, with all the corruption Ive seen personally and all the stories that come out every day about cops abusing their power i really could give a shit. As a whole they are the most corrupt people in the world.

With the cold temperatures in Chicago, having footballs that we could pump up at any time could really make our practices run more efficiently. If we could land a bag of those our whole team would benefit and it would have all stemmed from Benson.
-
I agree. I hate Benson too but I was also in the other thread saying we shouldnt release him because as of now he is our best RB. Im just saying it was a poor decision on his part considering, despite it being rumors on a message board, there are whispers about it possibly being time to go our separate ways with Benson. After drafting a guy who appears to be in the mold of Benson running wise but can also block and catch, now isnt exactly the best time for this kind of stuff.

Also, this isnt an incident like Marvin Harrisons where people were surprised to hear he got in trouble. When you have a guy who is coming off an injury, that hasnt produced at all his whole career, that has thrown his teammates under the bus an than add in him getting arrested an pepper sprayed its a little more likely for him to be cut than say Marvin Harrison. He was on thin ice as it is and anything he does to shoot himself in the foot could be enough to warrant cutting him, thats why its a bigger deal than another player getting a DUI.

Ya, I really think he was the one driving the boat. Is that somehow hard to believe? Was this a conspiracy against Cedric Benson to set him up?
-
The Bears dont think they need a quarterback which is why they didnt draft one. It wasnt cause they missed out on somebody because they could have gotten anyone but Ryan if they wanted to.

He will be fine. With his glowing personality and overall likability he will have a job in a booth in no time.
-
Ive liked him since last Saturday since I found out who he was.

They give these horses ecstasy?
-
Im assuming this very well could be the end of Benson in Chicago now. He was on thin ice as it was.

Those footballs that come with the little pumps are pretty cool. If we can get a few of those Im in 100%

If theyre official size and weight and not youth size I would seriously have to consider it.

I suppose if Hub says it was no good that has to be the truth...

what kind of footballs we talking here? Authentic football?
