  1. The need for WR and OL is so much greater that we cant really afford to address QB or RB in the draft unless its on day 2.
  2. I got that impression watching the game on tv. On the play where Tommie Harris stripped the ball on the goal line and the refs were discussing what they were gonna do about it and all the sudden the crowd starting cheering so I thought they gave the ball back to San Diego. Bears fans travel pretty well I hear.
  3. Thats why I said hopefully he picks it up. I realize going into San Diego your first game as a starter is a tall order but I would feel better about it if he has done more with the opportunities he has gotten over the past few years than what he has. The Bears need a running game to have success and so far I have no reason to think we will have one until I see what Benson can do. Hopefully he was just slowed down by the Chargers D and has a big game against the Chiefs at home.
  4. How was San Diegos stadium. My brother who live in LA wanted to go to the game but he said tickets were pretty insanely priced.
  5. This has nothing to do with Thomas Jones anymore, hes gone. People can continue to say that Benson runs hard and he delivers a blow when he is running the ball but hes never been able to string it together throughout more than a run or two at a time. He doesnt play with any passion. I know its only my opinion but I just think he doesnt care about his team, winning, the fans or anything but himself. He wanted the job so bad and it was handed to him without earning it and after one week he hasnt done anything to justify it yet. Hopefully he picks it up next week.
  6. Im not saying pencil in Brown as the starter and rely on him to be there, but if we can get him to sign an incentive based contract and plan on using him as a backup or in a platoon hes valuable to have. I know its a mistake to count on him but I think we should go after another starter and try to keep him around as a backup.
  7. I wonder if we'll ever be able to see what Dusty can do. Harris better stay healthy now.
  8. Despite his injuries I hope we keep Brown around with incentive based contracts after this year.
  9. This was exactly the point I was trying to make in the game thread. Its not a qbs fault if he gets planted while in a short drop. The first part of the blame is on the offensive line, the second part is on any blockers left in to pick up defenders, ie running backs.
  10. Wow, that is interesting. Its not the main reason we watched but it absolutely had a big impact on the game.
  11. Even though I am a Grossman fan I wasnt naive enough to not worry about how he would perform this season. Like Ive said in many other post I was happy with Grossmans play yesterday. He didnt make any ill advised throws and was moving the chains when given the opportunity. Its also hard to have success passing when you have defenders in the backfield on damn near every play. Benson on the other hand played like garbage. In all actuality he has never proven he was ready to be a feature back and got the job by whining and because of his huge contract. He plays with no emotion, his team mates dont respect him and he doesnt have much of an upside. When we drafted him we were hoping he would be a guy who would be a workhorse and who would get stronger as the game went on and he would help us keep our defense off the field and move the chains. Hes pretty much been the opposite. He had to be taken out on third down passing situations. He doesnt pose any threat as a receiver out of the backfield, he cant read blitzes, he gets arm tackled which boggles my mind, he doesnt get any more yards after contact and his yards per carry arent threatening enough to open up our passing game. Benson is a career change of pace back and nothing more. The only way he can be effective is if he came in later in the games when the defense was getting tired and put his head down and pound the defense. Since we traded our starting running back because he wanted to be the feature back were stuck with him for a year and defenses are gonna be able to dictate the pace of our games. Someone like Cory Dillon or Domanic Davis should have been looked at to come in and give us some depth at the position.
  12. I take more positives from this game than negatives. This is the hardest game we will play all year and that includes the Super Bowl, if they make it again. On the road in San Diego is brutal.
  13. A "C" on your jersey may make you a captain, and to be honest, who cares who decides who wears it but losing a guy like Brown devastates our defense. I know he has been getting injured every year but still, he is an amazing talent and an amazing leader.
  14. You simply cant replace brown especially his leadership but we have the personnel to try. Archuleta is very similar to Brown in rush defense and I suppose we could let Manning go back to FS but its a big blow to lose a guy like MB.
  15. The Brown situation is terrible. The guy is one of the best players in the league on either side of the ball he just cant stay healthy.
  16. I wouldnt want it any other way
  17. With how often Bradley and Berrian are injured Davis is a good guy to have around for depth.
  18. I think it was all timing. He couldnt really interview for many head coaching jobs during the playoffs and most of the coordinator positions were either filled or on the tail end of the interviewing process. I actually think the way the Bears handled that situation wasnt entirely fair to him but Im sure there were some other circumstances.
  19. I have a feeling Rivera is gonna be licking his chops sending Merriman after Rex.
  20. With the exception of the slam dunk pick of Olsen in the first round I severely doubt we are gonna have much success from the guys we got this year.
  21. The rankings all seem pretty similar to what I think, flip flopping San Diego and New England though, but I just dont see how the Saints are considered to be better than us by some. They havent improved over the offseason and IMO we have pretty significantly improved.
  22. Unless it makes you coach better I dont see how its a big deal if he obtained it legally.
  23. Wesley was cut today by the Pats, thanks for the draft pick.
