  1. French term or phrase: tu che English translation:point taken ("you got me there") One way to put it. Actually "touché", a fencing expression, a call made when one gets hit by the opponent. It's a way to acknowledge a point, a witty remark or an accusation.
  2. I doesnt sound too serious. HH knows his position so this is a good chance to get Williams and Okwo significant time to give us an idea if they are going to be Briggs predecessor.
  3. I havent heard anything yet. If anyone gets any updates on this let us know
  4. I read it in two other forums and apparently it was on the score. I hope its not serious, but out o all the starters we have, he may be the one we can go without the longest.
  5. Despite that fact that most of the original posters dislike the Cubs in one way or another. Its a great way to get more traffic in the other sites.
  6. Interesting read. This guy seems to think we have a good season ahead of us.
  7. I honestly think I heard he owns a Jiffy Lube in Canada. Seriously if I was making this up it would be better.
  8. I wasnt really referring to that stuff. Its more about the contract power struggles and how they both got resolved. For Lovies contract, he was getting lowballed and wouldnt sign so the Bears gave in and gave him the money. For Briggs he said he wouldnt play franchised and now he is. As far as Briggs comments about not playing, they dont bother me too much as a fan because I do realize its a business and everyone has to cover their own ass's first and foremost and thats what he was trying to do. As a fan of the Bears, he makes the team better and since that is what I want I have no problem cheering for him if he playing is helping the team.
  9. Im glad hes back and I wish we could resign him but I dont think we could afford that next year. I dont see why anyone would boo him. The whole situation was very similar to Lovies contract and nobody seems mad at either of them because it got done, and the same thing happened with Briggs, we called his bluff and hes gonna play.
  10. I read in another forum that Briggs was booed when he was announced and that they anticipated it ould happen so they announced Urlacher seconds after. What do you guys think about this? I think its a moot point right now and hes gonna play. We might as well cheer him and hope we can resign him.
  11. I read this article earlier. I really dont think were gonna have to worry about Rex taking off too many times during the season. I just dont get why MB would pop him, between the two of them they both could have spontaneously combusted. Ive been confident in Rex from day 1 and I think with his new weapons and some experience under his belt he is gonna break out this season.
  12. How was training camp? Are all the rumblings about hester and Olsen true, because if they are our offense might be a strong point instead of an obstacle.
  13. The color schemes are pretty much the same but there are a lot more options
  14. No neckbeard jokes needed (yet) Slimmed-down Orton turning heads in camp BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – Doing more with less could ultimately earn Kyle Orton a promotion. In the best shape of his life after shedding 10 pounds, the Bears' third-string quarterback has performed extremely well in training camp. Orton has even been taking some reps with the second-team offense, but for now he’s more concerned with improving than ascending up the depth chart. Kyle Orton lost 10 pounds while participating in the offseason conditioning program. “My goal right now is just to make myself a better quarterback,” he said. “That’s on the coaches to decide. The only thing I can control is my game, and I like where it’s at right now. I’ve just got to keep on getting better.” If Orton continues to shine, he could challenge veteran Brian Griese for the No. 2 job behind Rex Grossman. But the 2005 fourth-round pick declined to speculate on his chances of moving up. “I think my play’s speaking for itself and I’m just going to leave it at that,” Orton said. “We’ve got three good quarterbacks here and Brian’s a great quarterback. I’ll be the first one to admit how much he’s helped me the last year and a half.” After compiling a 10-5 record as a rookie starter in 2005, Orton spent last season as the third quarterback after Grossman returned from an injury and Griese was signed as a free agent. “It’s great just to get back into a competitive situation,” Orton said. “Last year when I came into camp I knew I was going to be a three. I probably didn’t take that the best way, but this year I just took it upon myself to just try to make it a competition and see where it falls.” Offensive coordinator Ron Turner cautioned against assuming Orton had supplanted Griese simply because the former Purdue star has been taking some reps with the second team. “There’s nothing to read into that at all, other than the fact that Kyle’s playing well, had a great offseason and is having a good camp,” Turner said. “It’s things you do; you get all three guys reps. Brian’s our No. 2. He’s getting the majority of the reps with the second team.” Complaint department: For the second time in training camp, defensive end Alex Brown voiced his displeasure Wednesday about losing his starting job to second-year pro Mark Anderson. “No, I’m not happy, but what do I do?” Brown said. “I go play, that’s what I do. So I’ll go play and assume these situations will work themselves out. In the end, I mean, it will work out. Wherever the dust settles, that’s what we’ll go with.” Coach Lovie Smith told reporters that he hasn’t seen Brown’s disappointment manifest itself in any way. “He would like to be lining up on the first team and that’s not the case right now, but he’s a part of what we’re doing,” Smith said. “I would have a problem if Alex was causing trouble. I don’t know exactly what he’s saying to you, but he’s not doing any of that to us. “It’s not like he’s missing things or is being a disgruntled employee or things like that. I don’t really know what you’re talking about. Alex is doing everything we’re asking him to do. I see the same smile every time I come to him.” Sights seen: Grossman provided a highlight at Wednesday’s hot and humid practice by connecting with receiver Bernard Berrian on two deep TD passes. The first was identical to a play in Tuesday night’s workout down the left sideline. Cornerback Nathan Vasher was the victim on both occasions. … Receiver Mike Hass outleaped defensive backs Danieal Manning and Greg Fassitt for a jump ball. … Receivers Drisan James and David Ball also made leaping catches. … Grossman split three defenders in rifling a completion over the middle to receiver Rashied Davis. … Brown snuffed out a reverse to Davis, stopping him for a big loss. Nothing serious: Wide receivers Devin Hester and Muhsin Muhammad and defensive tackle Tommie Harris were all held out of Wednesday’s practice for precautionary reasons. “They’re working through some minor things right now,” Smith said. “It’s nothing serious. Tommie for sure will practice [Thursday]. Devin should too. We may keep Moose out another day.”
  15. Injuries have limited wide receiver's impact If Bradley can stay healthy and still has his speed we are gonna have one of the fastest offenses of all time.
  16. Everything Ive read or seen out of training camp makes it sound like Olsen is as advertised. They were saying theyre gonna use him like Indy uses Dallas Clark and line him up all over the field and sometimes as receiver. I also head a quote, which Ill try to find a source or a link, but Urlacher said "Hes the best tight end Ive EVER seen."
  17. a la wikipedia: Other controversies stemmed from McNown's relationship with a number of Playboy Playmates. The first was Miss January 1998 and 1999 Playmate of the Year Heather Kozar, who was dating Cleveland Browns quarterback Tim Couch when McNown began pursuing her; McNown bought her a Porsche and the two dated for a while before Kozar returned to Couch. [2] Not long afterward, McNown was "banned" from The Playboy Mansion after taking Brande Roderick, Miss April 2000 and Playmate of the Year for 2001, on a getaway to Mexico. Roderick was dating Playboy founder Hugh Hefner at the time.
  18. BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – Former NBA star Dominique Wilkins was nicknamed “The Human Highlight Film,” but no NFL player deserves that moniker more than Devin Hester. The electrifying return specialist has been the star of training camp, displaying dazzling moves and explosiveness while working with a Bears offense that suddenly boasts an array of exciting big-play threats. Devin Hester is making a smooth transition from defense to offense in training camp. “He’s something special,” said offensive coordinator Ron Turner. “The progress he’s made has been tremendous. Mentally he’s handling everything really well and physically he’s got good instincts out there. He’s definitely going to be able to help us.” Hester has caught just about every pass thrown in his direction and created a buzz among fans who wear his No. 23 jersey and chant his name after every practice, hoping for an autograph or at least an up-close glimpse of their hero. The 2006 second-round pick looked like he was auditioning for the Globetrotters on one play in a recent practice. After slipping on the grass, Hester reached up and caught a pass on a quick slant while sliding on his back. In another workout, the dynamic playmaker caught a quick pass just over the line of scrimmage and proceeded to leave two Pro Bowl defenders in his wake, bursting past cornerback Nathan Vasher before racing by safety Mike Brown. “There was no way I was making that tackle,” Brown said. “He’s a dangerous guy. You get him in the open field with any kind of space, it’s going to be fun to watch. He’s a spectacular player.” Turner is surprised how quickly Hester has made the transition from defense to offense and has been most impressed with both how he has picked up the scheme and his route-running ability. “I knew he had great hands. You can see that,” Turner said. “But I wasn’t sure where he’d be route running-wise and he came out and looked good. In fact, he said he feels even more comfortable than he thought he was going to.” Much of that is due to the fact that Hester played wide receiver and running back in addition to lining up at cornerback and returning punts and kicks at the University of Miami. “It’s nothing new,” Hester said. "I kind of know what to expect. Now at the next level I’m going to get my opportunity just to get my hands on the ball a little more and hopefully go out and do the best I can.” The only other NFL player that Turner believes possesses as much natural ability as Hester is Carolina Panthers receiver Steve Smith, whom Turner once coached in a college all-star game. “I didn’t know much about Steve Smith and I saw him catch a pass in that game,” Turner said. “He caught a 10-yard hook and the next thing I knew it was an 80-yard touchdown. I said, ‘Whoa.’ I hadn’t seen anything like that before. But [Hester] has the same kind of explosiveness.” Hester has watched videotape of Smith, Jerry Rice, Terrell Owens, Randy Moss, Keyshawn Johnson and Santana Moss “just trying to get a feel of what made them so great.” The Bears star has also studied tape of his teammates. “He couldn’t make the move and be where he is if he didn’t put the time in,” Turner said. “It’s real important to him. He’s got a lot of pride and he’s working hard at learning it. Obviously he needs some work. I wouldn’t call [him] polished yet. But I’d say he does a lot of things naturally, and that will come.” In making the conversion, the Bears are not overloading Hester with terminology or responsibilities. “We’re trying to be careful what we do with him, just like we are anytime we get someone new at the position,” Turner said. “There’s a fine line. You don’t want to give them too much or ask them to do too much and now they’re not doing anything well. “We’re trying to zero in on what he can do and give him a small package just like we did with Bernard [berrian] when he first got here and everybody. You’re trying to bring him along slowly, but we’re pleased with the transition so far and the progress that he’s made.”
  19. CHICAGO (Aug. 3, 2007) -- Mike Ditka won't be in Canton, Ohio, for Saturday's Pro Football Hall of Fame induction ceremony and won't attend another until the NFL and the players' union improve their treatment of disabled players. "The system is flawed and when they fix the system I'll go back," the former Chicago Bears coach and player told The Associated Press. Ditka said his beef isn't with the pension system, but with the scarcity of disability payments. League officials have said 317 players collect disability totaling about $20 million a year. Ditka said he's proud to be a Hall of Famer and congratulates the new inductees, but prior commitments are keeping him away from the Hall of Fame event. "I'm in the restaurant business. I'm busy," he said. "They don't need me anyway." In June, a group of former players testified in Congress about their bouts with multiple surgeries, dementia and homelessness, all while trying to fight through the red tape of the National Football League and the NFL Players Association's disability system. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and players' union head Gene Upshaw met with nearly a dozen former players last month to discuss a new joint effort to look into disability pay and health care for retirees.
  20. I dont know about New England. Ben Watson and Kyle Brady isnt anything spectacular. This is hard to rank because its obviously not looking at depth but we have a very solid veteran in Clark who blocks well and is a good red zone target. Then theres Olsen who is slated to be a monster receiver and has the speed, size and strength to stretch defenses. To me that will have more of an impact than Ben Watson
  21. Brown had some of his best years as FS when Parrish was playing SS. The main concern is obviously injury and the fact that the FS needs to be quicker than a SS and its hard to say if all of Browns injuries have caused him to lose a step.
  22. Does anybody else think this can domino effect Leak onto the roster and Griese somewhere else?
  23. I dont really like this move. Harris is basically a run stopper, big hitter, similar to Archuleta and Brown. Now those guys arent exactly the healthiest guys around and we lost most of our backup safeties. Also, is D. Manning still playing safety or are they moving him to corner?
