Aint gonna happen....the Bears have three RT already...now if they had not signed Scott then maybe we would have gotten him
Where did I say it would happen? Please use the term "RT" loosely. Carimi sucks, Webb is a failed LT experiment and Scott is a career mediocre RT. If I was Emery, I'd cut either of the first 2 losers and make Clabo the RT.

Um, he was a lazy fat-ass. Easy. But that still doesn't mean he doesn't have far, far superior raw talent than a third string scrub. That's why you take chances on players who could have huge upside. They have two choices: Show up and do everything you want them to do, or get cut. It's not like Blanchard wouldn't be sitting by the phone waiting for a Chicago Bears phone call like a nerdy virgin the night before Prom.
So he was a 320 pound lazy fatass and now he's a 280 pound hard working, ultra talented player? Noted.
-
If the Bears signed Clabo and drafted Cooper/Warmack in round 1 or Warford in round 2, they'd right away have a great OL.
-
If the Bears didn't already have 3 QBs on the roster, I guess I'd be the only one on board with the idea. What's to lose? Sign him to a no-guaranteed money contract and tell him he better be perfect. If he's fat, he's cut. Lazy, cut. Falls asleep during a team meeting, cut. Eats with his elbows on the table, cut. Even as a fat-ass, his talent level almost certainly outweighs Matt Blanchard's.
Then why wasn't he on a roster in 2010, 2011 or 2012?

If Ogletree, Cooper, Warmack, and Austin are gone, I would then assume that the options would be down to Brown, Fluker, Trufant, and trade down. I'd take any.

I regret clicking on this <_>

Oh you always so negative.......
A sentence that has the words like "Bears," "sign," and "J.Russell" gives me nothing to be positive about.
But just so you know, we all know he's hungry. He's fat as s*** and plays like s***. No thank you. McCown>Russell in everything except a hotdog/any food item eating contest.

and why?

Neat. Thanks for the tip.

They are trained professionals. They are paid to know how to watch film and make judgements on prospects. No offense, but I'm pretty sure nobody here is qualified to be an NFL scout or a GM. You have to know what to look for, outside of the obvious. There's certain intricacies that go into knowing how to evaluate players that an untrained eye would not know how to read.
No problem with someone trying to formulate their own opinions, based on tape they have watched, but to act like it's so easy to be able to do a job as well as trained professionals at the highest level is pretty laughable and more than a little presumptuous.
And to clarify, I'm mostly speaking on the true NFL scouts, not the talking heads you see on TV. Especially former players.
On top of this, these scouts and front office members get to talk to college coaches, teammates, and the players themselves. Just from this, you can get a lot out of a guy.
As for WF, he now has sources in the league. It's not like he's a guy in Philadelphia making assumptions. He talks to people inside the league and watches A LOT of tape.

If we draft any LB's to play the middle, it at least has to be one of the following: Ogletree, Brown, Teo, Minter, or Reddick.
As opposed to..?
-
I was honestly shocked by these NFL ratings. I watched a TON of college football this past year, and there is no way in hell I'd rate Brown ahead of Ogletree. No way. It's head-shakingly unbelievable to me, to be quite honest. Brown plays slow and his instincts appear to be poor at times. Ogletree plays very fast and appears to have pretty good instincts.
100% agree. I love both but for me, I'd rather have Ogletree.

He's something like 17-6 in games he finishes over the last 2 years and he has one of the best records since he got here. I know that has a lot to do with the D but my statement remains true.
Reread your tweet. It makes it sound like you were talking about Jeffery, not Cutler.
-
There were still a lot of restrictions to the offense the last few years that the coaching staff alone can't fix. The line and the lack of a middle of the field option put a huge damper on the offense. The dynamic of Marshall over the top, Bennett working the middle, and Matt Forte underneath (basic principles of a WCO) is a recipe for success if you ask me. If Jeffery takes a step forward and stays healthy I'd be willing to bet that he at the very least has his best season as a Bear (which I know isn't much but we've won with him in the past with his sub par performances).
Best year as a Bear? You make it seem like this will be his 4th year. If he's not better than what was he was last year, people will actually start believing my comparison of Braylon Edwards.
-
Drafttek has the Bears going Ogletree then...wait for it...Te'o. How f***ing dumb would that be?
-
You guys seem to be forgetting CB. Who steps in if Tillman goes down? Hayden does, but then who fills in at nickel? I'm all for drafting a G, C, WR and LB but CB is a need as well. David Amerson is round 2 would be tremendous value.

lol...Martz system sucked we all knew what was coming, Tice could not call or get the plays in and I think he didn't use bates at all
Let me start out by saying that Cutler had some of his best stretches under Martz (after the bye in 2010 and 2011), so that's nonsense, but anyhow..."Martz system sucked?" That's hindsight. At the time, it was "Martz is an offensive guru." Then they hired Tice and traded for Marshall, and it was "well, Tice lets him audible, Martz won't be around to get him killed on 7 step drops, he likes Tice, and he loves Marshall! This will be great!"
-
Cutler is not going anywhere, because or what he has done with many sorry OLines. Now that they are going to produce something worth watching and have an offensive minded coach his numbers are going to rise and we will have less three and outs and score more points.
We said that when he had Martz, then got Marshall with Tice and Bates. I'll hold off on saying "he's not going anywhere" at the moment.

Naw, you keep him around for depth. Right now it doesn't look like the Bears are going to need to cut anyone to free up space so cutting Earl would be a mistake.
Maybe it's just me, but you don't keep a guy around who signed a 4 year, $18m deal "for depth." You keep him around because he's good and will contribute. In your scenario, Bennett isn't going to contribute unless there's an injury.
-
This 100%. Great way to build the roster. Don't lock yourself into anymore long term deals than you have to.
Peace
And next year, they'll have about $40m in cap space.
-
I'd say he was there to see Holmes, Robey, and Woods. Although to me, Holmes is probably a ZBS C and Robey is quite small but is quick. Woods would be a solid pick in round 2.
Hell, maybe he was interested in Barkley.
-
I assume you're just being an ass??? You are on to why I would be excited though. Having The Beast and Eifert on one side and Bennett and Jeffery on the other is bound to create a mismatch somewhere. It's hard to say it wouldn't be intriguing and that it wouldn't cause headaches for opposing defenses....Extremely unlikely though like I keep saying
Might as well cut Earl Bennett then.
-
At this point, the Bears need to draft some guys for depth at a number of positions, but they don't obviously need an immediate front line starter at any position.
They're in a great place to trade down, grab an extra 2nd or 3rd round pick, and start putting guys into the rotation.
I would say they could use a starting RG, but yeah, I wouldn't say "need."

Once again, "I never said it would happen." Thanks for admitting it.
Anyways, you wouldn't want want it to happen?
