If there's anyway we could sign Jordan Gross, I would cream all over myself. On February, that's the last day CAR could franchise him, and then on February 27, free agency starts. Apparently, we save about $5 million if he does retire but we still owe like $2 million for his original signing bonus. But isn't Oher a LT? Or do you say we should keep him at LT and move Williams to RT?
-
Agreed. Then we could go Robiskie or Barden in the 3rd.

I was watching NFL Total Access earlier and they said the Tribune reported it. Still looking around for a link anywhere. Thoughts?

Sign Byron Leftwich- 3 years, $13 million. ---Angelo has already been public that he wants a veteran QB in here, Leftwich likes Lovie, and I don't know of another FA QB who could come here. Sign Mike Goff- 3 years, $19 million. ---Angelo goes out and gets the best OG on the market. Sure, he's 33, but he's still good and is from Illinois, which could play into his decision. Buh-bye to: Tait, Hillenmeyer, McKie, Vasher, Garza, and Miller. Re-sign St Clair (1 year, 2 million), Roach (2 years, 1.8 million), and Idonije (3 years, 10 million). 1. Darrius Heyward-Bey, WR, Maryland ---Lovie loves speed and it's been made public the FO likes this guy. 2. Jairus Byrd, CB, Oregon ---A Cover-2 CB who could make the move to FS. 3. Jason Watkins, RT, Florida ---We need to get a young RT in here to learn from St. Clair and be our RT of the future. Watkins has long arms and is athletic in space. 3. Brandon Williams, DE, Texas Tech ---I have no idea why he isn't getting 2nd round attention. He's athletic at 6'5 250 and he led the Big-12 in sacks last year. 4. Andre Brown, RB, NC State ---Big, bruising RB to compliment Forte. 5. Marcus Freeman, OLB, Ohio State ---LB depth incase Roach decides to play like a dumba** in coverage again this year. 6. Tony Fiammetta, FB, Syracuse ---Power FB who is a good blocker against the pass and run. 7. Darcel McBath, FS, Texas Tech ---Safety depth. UDFA: Louis West, OL, Henderson State Jon Cooper, C, Oklahoma Cole Popovich, OG, Fresno State Sammie Lee Hill, DT, Stillman Anthony Scirrotto, S, Penn State Orton Leftwich Hanie Forte Brown Wolfe Fiammetta Hester DHB Bennett Davis Rideau? Olsen Clark Williams St Clair West? St Clair Watkins West? Beekman Goff Popovich? West? Kreutz Cooper Beekman Ogunleye Brown Wiliams Idonije Harris Harrison Idonije Adams Hill? Dvoracek? Urlacher Briggs Freeman Roach Tillman Byrd Bowman Graham McBride? Manning Payne Steltz McBath? Scirrotto? McGowan? Worrell? Thoughts? (next one will be after the combine)

With 14, I'm not so sure they'll be able to sign Atogwe. Last year, Ryan was the 3rd overall pick and he got $12 per. If their pick even gets $10 or $11 per, I doubt they'll be able to sign Atogwe. He's going to want $5-$6 per.
-
Lovie loves speed, and this guy, I'll make a wager, will be our first pick. He's a bit raw at the position, but his jumping ability is ridiculous, he can be used on some trick plays, and his speed might end up being better then Maclin's. Here are some of DHB's highlights this past year: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IyjaBWuo4zA

I would shoot myself in the face if those were our first 2 picks. LOL Veikune in the 2nd? He'll be lucky to go in the 5th.
-
Well yeah maybe, but Angelo seems dedicated to Manning for now. I can see him bringing in Huff for a possible back-up role, though.
-
I should have made that an option- trading it away. We definitley get that team's first, their 2nd, and maybe even a solid veteran player to go along with it.
-
I didn't get Madden this year for this reason- that the crappy guys still caught everything and intercepted passes from Brady to Moss. Maybe next year I'll actually get it...
-
Angelo is in some time of man-crush era right now with Danieal Manning, and so I think if we do bring in a FS, it'll be Huff. He has tons of potential, but he wouldn't play here. He'd be a body behind Manning if he either gets hurt or just isn't getting the job done.
-
Dez Bryant in the 1st, Robinson in the 2nd? BTW- say no to Tebow, Clausen, and Bradford. Bradford isn't in any type of offense that will resemble an NFL offense, Tebow is Tebow- I don't want to beat on a dead horse, and Clausen hasn't done sh*t at ND that makes me want him here.
-
Sounds like Turner has plenty of confidence in Bennett.
-
Why do you say? He wasn't really all that inconsistent during his career despite his huge arm. Sure, his OL sucked, but so did Grossman's and we all hate on him.
-
Who would you take if we had the #1 overall pick? I'd take Crabtree. It's just the Fitzgerald factor- after watching him over the playoffs, I think he's the closest thing to Fitz that's come out in a while- good size, good hands, not overwhelming speed, quiet guy, etc.
-
That'd be good. Although if that happens, some team like Seattle might give Holt way more then he's worth.
-
But we need a compliment to Hester. Just like Devin, Maclin relies on his speed to make catches down the field. Yes, he does go over the middle of the field, but even Hester does that 3 times a game. I'd much rather have Nicks or Britt if we could trade down into the late 1st or early 2nd- both are guys who made their college careers successful by catching the ball on slants and quick throws for 8 yards in the middle of the field. If Nicks or Britt could show that they are consistent, that would take the safety potentially away from cheating a bit on Hester's side which could get him more 1-on-1's.
-
Moore is going to tear up his workouts with his speed. He'll go to a team in the 3rd- count on it. I'd definitley take DHB, Nicks, or Britt over Maclin. Maybe not with the 18th pick, but if I had to choose one for the future, Maclin would not be my pick. Bomar does nothing for me as a QB. Sure, Loadholt is massive, but he isn't very good against speed rushers. The only thing he is able to do is if he's lucky enough to latch onto the DE, the play is done. I guess we'll disagree on Canfield. Of all the mocks I've looked at, he's a 2nd rounder. He's the 2nd or 3rd best OG, behind Robinson and maybe Urbik. BTW- don't count on us drafting a FS. Angelo wants to give Manning a shot there this year, which is why Brown won't be back.
-
Okay, not a bad draft at all but I think you're lost on where players will go. 1. Moore will likely go in the 3rd to a team that needs a small, quick RB like New England. Plus, we don't need him as Angelo already said he thinks Wolfe's role will improve next season. 2. I'd rather take DHB, Britt, or Nicks instead of Maclin, but whatever. 3. Bomar is a 5th or 6th rounder. 4. Loadholt had an awful Senior Bowl week and is now projected as a 3rd. I wouldn't mind getting him there. 5. Canfield had a great Senior Bowl week and now will go in the 2nd. I wouldn't mind getting him there. All in all, I think we should go WR, then OG, then RT, then DE.
-
I love Holt. He loves Hester so he can do some tutoring there, and he has great hands, still. I'd give up a 4th this year and a 5th next year (or this year) for him for sure, though. Maybe then if we think Bennett can be a #3 or #4, we can sign Holt, and wait to draft a WR until round 3 while we get an OG and DE with our first 3 picks, in no order. Or, we can still go WR with our 18th pick and start forming a solid WR corps.
-
You wouldn't call Forte a playmaker? 1500+ total yards of offense with one of the worst OL's in football. Olsen catches everything (he had 1 bad game in Carolina) and Hester's 2 first seasons were better then Steve Smith's. You can't sit here and say Hester isn't a playmaker. And BTW- I wasn't being sarcastic, I was being serious. So we agree...
-
I could have sworn it was March 1, but clnr seems to think otherwise.
-
Exactly. For the first time in what seems like 20 years, we had a better offense then defense. With 3 playmakers on the offensive side of the ball, he made it a top 15 offense. Not bad at all.
