Why not? It's not like there's a history of QBs being busts in the first round (well, obviously there have been some, but it's not as noticeable as say...OT). But yeah, I forgot we have Grossman- Brett Favre in the making- so forget Stafford, Bradford, or Sanchez. We didn't draft a safety this year- why would we draft one in 2009? However, I wouldn't mind Chung in the 3rd, as he's an absolute stud. I think DE is a need more then people here think- Anderson isn't very good and Ogunleye is getting up there in age. LB? We have Williams waiting in the wings. I'd rather we picked up Goff or Tauscher in FA'y, went QB in the 1st, OG in the 2nd, DE in the 3rd, WR in the 4th, and so on.

Bucs TE Stevens: "People on the Bears got exposed"
Ed Hochuli 3:16 replied to madlithuanian's topic in Bearstalk
Why does everyone on this site rip on Kevin Payne? He led the team with 13 tackles week 2 @ Carolina, and last week vs TB he made a nice adjustment on the ball for an INT. The guy is a f***ing rookie and people think he got "exposed". Wow, I must be the only Payne fan on this board. -
At the time, Bradley fit best for our team. Sure, you can look down the list of that draft and say how we could have taken some current Pro-Bowl player, but maybe on the Bears that same guy wouldn't even be a good player. It could just be the system. The Bears right now have tons of 2nd round and on players who are starters- both Brown's, Forte, Hester, Dvoracek, Briggs, Tillman, Vasher, Orton, and Kreutz, and even Berrian was our #1 in the year we went to the Super Bowl and he was a 3rd round pick. And, don't forget Anderson, who could have easily won DROY in 2006. but yeah, what a f***ing moron JA is. Tell me another GM who has had that much success drafting in the later rounds. Which is why I said "so far". He was, but while I think they expected him to be a better CB, I think another reason was to be a KR/PR for the Bears. And, who said we're discussing offensive players taken by JA? Nobody ever said "just offense".
-
Hester has worked out pretty well, and so has Forte so far. But yeah, what a dumba** GM.
-
Williams chased down Dexter Jackson and slammed his a** to the ground Sunday. He is a shorter yet faster Briggs. Say bye-bye to Hillenmeyer, pleaseeeeee.
-
I want Mark Tauscher- FA after the year and will only be 30. He has about 6 good years left in him.
-
Why? Nobody said he had an awesome game. But he wasn't even the 3rd reason we lost the game. Turner's playcalling, the defense, and a stupid penalty were the reasons, with an honorable mention to Rashied Davis.
-
Are you serious?
-
Yet when I bring up the possibility of drafting one, I get s***.
-
But if Rex played, we'd win 56-35.
-
I don't believe I ever called him a d*ck. I said he was a moron. We're trying to win a game- you don't run in pile and try to kick a guy's a**. Like, seriously, does Adewale Ogunleye need help beating the hell out of a guy twice as small as him?
-
Terrible news. He was a potential 3rd-4th round pick next year, and I wouldn't of minded had the Bears taken him. Wow. Best of luck to the man.
-
But seriously. 1. Mark Sanchez, QB, USC- haven't seen a weakness in him yet. 2. Herman Johnson, OG, LSU- I watched the Auburn game and he looked pretty good out there. 3. Larry English, DE, NIU- rip me all you want, but Ogunleye is aging, Brown did nothing yesterday, and Anderson sucks. 3. Mohamed Massaquoi, WR, Georgia- sturdy, pretty tall yet lanky wide-out.
-
Laurenitis is a soft LB- that might be his #1 weakness. We have a stud LB, Jamar Williams, waiting. He caught Dexter Jackson yesterday from behind- a smaller yet quick Briggs. I think we have to go QB in the 1st if we have a top 8-10 pick. Bradford, Stafford, and Sanchez all may go pro, and I doubt all 3 go right away before us. I've watched Sanchez every game this year and I don't exactly see a weakness in him.
-
Call me nuts, but I think we can beat Philly. All we have to do is run draws, quick slants, and screens (Wolfe, too). Draws- If they blitz alot, a draw will send the DEs flying up only for Forte to run against 2 DTs. That's almost an automatic gain of 10+ yards. Quick slants- we couldn't get to Griese because of his quick throws. We can prevent Philly from getting to Orton with a Griese-type game- SLANTS.
-
Add a TD and 50 yards to Orton's stats if Clark catches that potential TD pass after the Briggs INT, and if Davis catches that pass down the middle of the field in OT.
-
Yeah, well, you're the one who talks about how good Olsen is, and yet, he hasn't shown me anything yet. Davis has been in the league for 3 games now with no playing time- how do you know how good (or not good, in your case) he is?
-
Key to beating Philly- use draw plays. The DEs are going to be all over Orton but if we can use draw plays efficiently with Jones and Forte, we'll be okay. The DEs will fly up and a draw will get them guys out of the player. Then it's Forte/Jones + the line against the defense minus 2 DEs. I'll take my chances.
-
Yeah, and what has he done that's impressed you in 2 years? Well no, you're not an idiot if you don't like him. But you're an idiot if you think Grossman is the answer. So yeah, you are an idiot.
-
Are you serious? We never have used TEs, except Ditka, for what they succeed greatly at. We may as well trade him, and he is a horrendous blocker, too. Some team, like New England, could use a TE that is a special player when you use him correctly.
-
Exactly. And yes, good eyes- he went after Clayton, not Trublood. What a joke.
-
Look, I'm not just doing this because of our 2nd straight loss, but even before the year I've been thinking about it. 1. I haven't ever been too fond of Olsen. I've always thought he was soft, and we never use him hardly except for little out patterns and all that crap. We have Davis who impressed me in the preseason and I think we could use him more efficiently and effectively. Plus, his 2 fumbles week 2 didn't help put my argument to rest. I'm sure we could get a 1st round pick for this guy. 2. Mark Anderson had an unreal rookie year with like 14 sacks. Ever since, he has like 4. I'm tired of watching this guy attempt to play the run and get to the QB. He has so much potential and I bet we could get a 1st OR 2nd round pick for this guy. If we end of winning 4-6 games, I think trading these guys might help us rebuild. We could have 2 1st round picks, 2 2nds, and 3 3rds if we get compensation for Berrian. Trade the lower 1st rounder to get another 2nd and 3rd, and with the higher 1st, get a QB. I'm just so sick of having to debate who the better sh*tty QB is. We could then go OG/OT/WR in the 2nd, and S/C/OG in the 3rd.

Giving up 400 yards to Brian Griese- I don't see why not.
-
I did, was a QB, and was a pretty good one. However, in HS, wins and losses pretty much doesn't matter. HS is to get you ready for college and college to get you ready for the pros. Ogunleye is 6'5 and 310 pounds- I doubt he needs Charles Tillman's help. It's a different way of seeing things in a blow-out, but you're in OT, you're exhausted, and the offense is sitting pretty for great field position.
