    Jared Cook

There's a fine line between "take a chance on a malcontent" and "I wish the Bears would've given this dynamite TE a bunch of money." Cook is an underachiever. He's not dynamite. He's a solid TE and nowhere near worth almost $6m that he'll get this year with the tag.

Jared Cook is not a dynamite TE. If Jared Cook is "dynamite," what is Gronkowski? Cook is a career underachiever. He showed tons of promise but never quite developed into a great TE. Had he hit the open market, he would've been lucky to get $5m/year. He's also a headcase. I found things Titans' fans say about him on PFT, The Tennessean's website, and footballsfuture's Titans' board: awesome talent, inconsistent, malcontent, bandaid until we find better options, has shown no promise. Walterfootball has him as a 2.5 star FA (out of 5) and says: "Jared Cook has tons of potential, but has never developed. He hauled in 49 receptions for 759 yards in 2011, but regressed this past season. That could be blamed on poor quarterbacking though, so some team should take a chance on him."

They are going to use THAT much money on Jared Cook?
  4. Ogletree is a 21 year old with fresh legs and a fresh body. Like Urlacher coming out, he is a converted safety. He is fast, strong, and instinctive. There is no way he is not better than Urlacher if Urlacher plays the way he did in 2012.
  5. Every year, Mike Mayock releases his top 5 lists of the top 5 prospects at each position. This year, he has interesting ones, like Barrett Jones as the #3 C, behind Schwenke and Frederick. http://m.nfl.com/news/0ap1000000139744/
  6. What if they sign LeVitre and take Johnson in round 1, Ertz and Eifert are gone in round 2, and they extend Urlacher and Roach?
  7. Couldn't have happened to a bigger douche. The Packers cutting AJ Hawk is no big deal. He wasn't any good anyhow. Keeping Brad Jones will be a high priority for them. Jeff Saturday also is going to retire. As for Collie, no. His brain is scrambled eggs.
  8. The Bears 5 biggest needs, IMO, are T, G, LB, TE, and DT (keeping Melton). They need to sign a G or T + keep Melton. In the draft, their first 3 rounds need to be G or T (whichever they don't get in FA), TE, and LB, in whatever order. No one is saying a speed WR needs to be taken in round 2, but it's hard to argue against picking Tavon Austin if he's there. He reminds me a lot of Randall Cobb. However, if it's him or Barrett Jones/Larry Warford/Kyle Long (if they don't get a G in FA), I'd take one of those three instead.
  9. 0% chance Kelce is there in round 6 and Faulk, to me, is not a 2nd rounder.
  10. Not bad. Louis should not get 5 years, coming off a torn ACL or not. I'd love if Melton took 4 years. Vazquez might get 5 years from some team. No way should they give Urlacher 2 years. Jones would be an excellent pick. Conte and Wright are fine so I'd say no to Rambo. Skov kind of sucks. I like Foltz.
  11. I never said Beatty is amazing and Foltz and Armstead will be great. What I did say is that Kromer has history with mid-round OL and turning them into good or great players. Let's face it- they will not be moving Garza to OG or benching him, so C is fine. No one, except me, wants to give up on Carimi at T, so he + Scott + Armstead and then Webb and Beatty are enough T's. Louis may or may not be ready to start the year, but if he is, he can start as can Foltz. There is no way Foltz can be as bad as any of the Bears' G's were in 2012. James Brown is also a young player the Bears can develop. I never said OL is not a need. It is. That's why I have them paying a LT and drafting a T and G. I just don't see them giving up on Webb, Brown or Carimi, and that means you can only have so many guys on your roster. Do we want them dressing 3 WR's so they can put 14 OL in uniform each Sunday? If you want Fluker, you let Scott walk. If you draft a G high, fine, but I don't see that happening as I believe Carimi gets another crack at G when he fails again at T. Fluker isn't a LT and no way Warmack falls to 20. Johnson, Fisher and Joeckel also will all be gone. Is Emery supposed to take just any T or G there just because? Come on. Then at 37.. what if Jones, Long and Warford are gone? Do they reach for a 5th round T there?
  12. There is no way you can say Cobb > Hester only because he was used in better spots. Stop. Randall Cobb is a great, versatile NFL WR who any team would love to have. He'd instantly be the Bears' #2. Also, Jones > Bennett and it's not close. Jones caught almost everything thrown at him and stepped up big time when Nelson and Jennings were hurt. Trying to say that the Bears WR's equal or almost equal the Packers' guys is pretty stupid.
  13. How do you know that this will be the case with a whole new coaching and Phil Emery?
  14. On the field, I was not a Knox fan. Off the field, he was a tremendous person. Forget football. I hope he can live a regular life. I thought it was classy of the Bears to pay him 1.26 million last year as well, despite knowing he had 0 chance of playing. All the best, Johnny.
  15. If you know so much, why are you talking to such a dumb f*** like me on a message board with about 15 active members? For the record, that's **YOU'RE, genius, but I'm sure you knew that.
  16. Apparently he is now listed as a "failed physical" on the wire. Yeah, sign me up.
  17. Beatty is a definite upgrade over Webb. You happen to like Carimi and I believe Scott was good last year. Armstead is a project that Kromer can help develop. Tackles, check. Louis is back at OG and Foltz looks like starting potential. Brown wasn't good last year but was a UDFA. Guards, check. Garza is declining with one year left, but they probably won't take a C in round 6 or 7 that will help them. Jones won't be there in round 3. Centers, check. I know you want OL, and so do I. But there is no point in taking them if there is no place to put them.
  18. The Bears need youth on defense. They can't keep signing older FA's to be stop-gaps for future draft picks when in fact they never get those future draft picks. Draft LB's, don't sign guys that the Bills can't use.
  19. If I'm using my 2nd round pick on Goodwin, as they'd have to since he won't be there in the 4th, I have to see production in college, potential in the NFL, and passion. I don't see the former and the latter. He was running instead of practicing football and he didn't put up stats in college. No thanks. If I'm going WR in round 2, give me Patton, Woods, Austin or Bailey.
  20. Houshmanzadeh and Ochocinco in their primes were pretty good OSU receivers, no?
  21. Any starting OL that has Carimi instead of Scott as the RT is mind-boggling, IMO. Scott was solid last year. Carimi was f***ing pathetic.
  22. I did forget to keep Louis, but let's say I didn't. Louis wasn't great last year and is coming off an ACL tear. It's not like he's a necessity to this team. The OL sucked with and without him. I did forget a TE. If Roach and Urlacher walk, you need LB's. If Hester is cut, you need two WR's, unless you want Weems and Joe Anderson as the #4 and #5 WR's. Signing Beatty and drafting Armstead and Foltz, I figured you'd love it.
