We need a LT and a RT too so who do you pick?
Ed Hochuli 3:16 replied to Wesson44's topic in Bearstalk
Yeah, it depends. If they sign a LT in FA, I take Ogletree. You can get an OG in round 2 or 4 that can start week 1. -
That is a huge waste of picks, too. So, sign 2 OL as FA's, then draft 4 or 5? To do what with?
-
Even if the teams picking ahead of the Bears win their final 2?

You don't think Ogletree is as athletic as Urlacher? Most people say he might be the most athletic player in this draft. Yes, I agree on Warmack. If they sign one of Beatty/Long/Clady/Bushrod/Vollmer/Albert and no OG, Warmack is a safe pick. -

Fisher in round 1, Aboushi or Fluker in round 2 (Lewan, Joeckel, and Matthews will all probably not be available). -If they sign one of the top 6 FA OT's, then I take Alec Ogletree (MLB) and take either Fluker or Aboushi in round 2. -If they sign a G, I take Fisher or Ogletree and then Aboushi or Fluker in round 2. -If they sign neither a OT or G, I trade down and with my first 2 picks, I take the best T then G available (Larry Warford, Alvin Bailey). FWIW, Kyle Long is an interesting one in round 4 if he's available, but I'm afraid his bloodlines might even sneak him into round 2. -
Actually, if the the Giants go 1-1 (or worse) and he Vikings do the same, the Bears have to go 2-0 and they're in.
-
So instead of signing a OT or OG and using 2 of the first 3 picks on OL, you want them to take their chance on a 5th-7th rounder?
-
Except he had 3 OPI's and a dropped TD the week before in Minnesota. As I'm sure you all know, I'm not as high on Jeffery. His feet are incredibly slow, so that effects his speed as well as his route running which all results in flags. His hands were his strength but he's had a few dropped passes as well. Also, he's already had a hand and knee surgery.

20-3 Bears
-
Exactly. Out of the last six 5-7 round picks of the Bears, one is a starter (but is a bad one) and the other is a ST player. ST players are nice, but you can get those as UDFA's or other 5-7 rounders. A punter is round 5, 6 or 7 is not a bad move, IMO.
-
Like what? In round 5-7, you probably won't get a good player. When have the Bears EVER gotten a Brady or even a TJ Houshmandzadeh? This past year, they drafted Isiah Frey and Greg McCoy in 6 and 7. In 2011 they took Enderle and JT Thomas. In 2010, they selected Webb and Dan LeFevour. Those all worked out well. If you can get the 1st or 2nd best P prospect, I say do it.
-
It's funny how they only run draws and screens when they have 2nd or 3rd and long. In Tennessee, they ran a draw on 3rd and 16 or so and got 17. In the same game, Forte had a screen and got 60 out of it. Last week, Allen got 14 (IIRC) yards on a screen on a 3rd and long. DO THEM ON 1ST OR 2ND DOWN AND SHORT ALSO.
-
I'd make sure it was a 5th or 6th round pick, because a 4th round pick is too valuable. Another guy I'd look at is Ryan Allen, who won back to back Ray Guy's, and finished 2012 with a 48 ypp average including a long of 85 (!).
-
Correct.

When I first read this, I thought it was an incredibly stupid idea. I still think it is, but it gave me an idea. If you think about it, it might work, but I'd wait until they get up big on Arizona, which they should because they are f***ing horrible. Then, I'd let Cutler play with just Bennett, Hester and Jeffery. I'd rather wait until they're winning rather than to do it right at the start of the game. Tell Marshall to take a seat and get ready for Detoilet.
-
It's because Tice sends the play to Bates who then has to give it to Cutler. I don't get why Tice doesn't give it right to Cutler. That could save multiple timeouts and 5-7 seconds on every play clock.
-
Webb, Brown, Garza, Spencer, Carimi I think there is a 0% chance they lose this week. Arizona is horrible and might be even worse than Jacksonville. Ryan Lindley has more tackles than TD's.
-
With the news that stud LSU P Brad Wing is going pro, would he or any other college or FA punter interest you? Podlesh was 21st in average last year and is 30th this year. While he was 6th in net last year, he's 19th this year. He's due a bit over a million every year until 2016.
-
This is two teams in two years who didn't want Tebow. If he was any good, he wouldn't have gotten run out of town in Denver and he wouldn't only have 8 passes this year for a team who needs better QB play more than maybe any other team. He is absolute garbage as is Sanchez.
-
I think the Bears go into 2013 with him as a lame duck. If he has an OK year, tag him. If he has a bad year, let him go. If he lights the league on fire, give him an extension. There is money to be spent on OL, WR, and LB before QB. If you upgrade the OL, who's the guy you're protecting? I'm still under the belief that if he has a capable OL- and I mean "capable," not Pro Bowl but definitely not USFL talent level- with another weapon, he can be a great QB. A 2nd or 4th round OG + a FA LT should not be too much to ask. Since he's been with the Bears, they've had a HORRIBLE line every year and 2 playmakers, one of which was traded to Carolina (Olsen) and one that's still on the team (Marshall). They have a pathetic group of TE's, an overpaid yet solid pair of RB's, and their other WR's are either not WR's (Hester), rookies who can't get separation (Jeffery), WR's who can never stay on the field (Bennett), or ST's (Weems). Say what you want about Rodgers, Brees, Brady, both Manning's not having the "attitude" Cutler has and even Rodgers having an equally bad OL, but Cobb, Jennings, J.Jones, Finley, Nelson, Colston, Moore, Graham, Welker, Lloyd, Hernandez, Gronkowski, Decker, D.Thomas, Cruz, Nicks, and M.Bennett would all be the Bears' #2 option in the passing game.
-
If the Bears go 10-6 and lose in round 1, fire the staff. If they go 8-8 or 9-7 and don't make the playoffs, fire the staff. Retain the staff (with a few exceptions) if they go 10-6 and win a playoff game or four.

We still have have hope...not dead just yet
Ed Hochuli 3:16 replied to Wesson44's topic in Bearstalk
They are probably getting Jennings, Melton, Hayes, and Bennett back this week. McClellin might play next week. If they get in, Urlacher is back. They can get momentum by winning their last 2. With these guys getting healthy, anything is possible. -
Being at practically every home game, I know for a fact that Cutler always goes over to his WR's and OL after a series. Of course, nobody sees this because FOX, CBS, ESPN, etc only shows him yelling or being by himself, but Cutler is either looking at pictures or talking to another teammate on offense. He also throws on the sideline if the opposing O has a long drive. BTW, when has he ever blamed anyone but himself? He said postgame Sunday the throw to Hester was his fault. After every game that the offense sucks, he says "it starts with me."

Bringing Tebow is asking for trouble. He's not a good quarterback. He's hardly any good at anything football related. On Monday, Sanchez completed two nice passes, and immediately was asked to sit a few plays for Tebow. After that, Sanchez was horrible. Blame whatever you want, but bringing Tebow in is #1 a circus and #2 asking for a lack of of rhythm offensively. If you think their rhythm is bad now, Tebow would kill it.
