  1. So, if the Bears lose, Cutler sucks? Please. He has 1 playmaker at the moment. Forte's ypc is a nice 4.3 but he's not as explosive, fast or shifty as he used to be. Bush is mediocre and might not play Sunday. Jeffery hasn't been anything special because of injuries. Hester sucks. Bennett might not play. Kellen Davis has as much talent as my keyboard I'm currently typing on. Spaeth and Adams aren't reliable targets. All of that, and I haven't even mentioned his OL which is brutal. On that note, I would absolutely love to see Cutler have an unreal game. Remember his first 300 yard game this year against the Colts? Yeah, that was his only one. How about making it two on Sunday?
  2. Honest to god, Brandon, I like you a lot. You're a hell of a WR and you've done so much more than I expected. But, the last time the Bears ran their mouths against the Packers, they were beaten down by their defense. Cutler's "good luck" and now Marshall wants 1 on 1. If you watch him against GB back in week 2, he dropped a TD pass, and although they were playing 2-man, he wasn't even getting off Williams at the line. And for the record, he furthered this by saying "I don't care if they hear; if you need talk to get you fired up, you're in the wrong business" or something along those lines. Really? Because I'm pretty sure THEIR talk is what made you say these things. Alaskan doesn't think the OL is bad.
  3. Melton would play DE in a 3-4. Peppers would hate it, as the reason he chose Chicago when he was a UFA was because he wanted to play in a 4-3. Wootton doesn't seem like a fit anywhere in a 3-4. Briggs could easily play in any D it seems. McClellin is obviously better suited for a 3-4. With his current speed, I doubt Urlacher could play in a 3-4.
  4. So, he was able to kick a short FG on Sunday if they needed him, but 2 days later he goes on IR? Seems odd.
  5. Nassib and Buchanan will go in the 3rd and 4th.
  6. So many injuries to so many key players. This season is over
  7. Forte can't run every time. If Bush is hurt, Allen is their only other RB. Have you looked at their roster?
  8. I assume you're talking about Ashkum's mock, so I'll just say that you've probably never seen any of those guys play. Warford didn't allow a sack all year in the SEC.
  9. You have to remember that Jennings is 28, Melton 26, Wright 24, Louis 27. Those are guys they have to keep. They can't let proven youth go and replace them with unproven youth. I see what you mean as you're accounting for every possible scenario, but they have to keep all 4 of those guys. The only one I could see letting go is Wright if he continues to be a goof, as he still seems raw and had a horrific game against Seattle. If they let Tillman and Urlacher go soon, I wouldn't blame them unless they're playing extremely well, as Tillman is now. I guess all I'm saying is that I would make my mock draft after what will likely happen, instead of every single player leaving when their deal is up. Example of my offseason: Sign Jared Cook and Jake Long Let Urlacher walk Extend Louis and Melton 1. Alec Ogletree, ILB, Georgia -Urlacher's replacement. 2. Larry Warford, OG, Kentucky -Another SEC guy who was a 2nd team AA in the SEC 4. Mike Gillislee, RB, Florida -Michael Bush isn't very good (4.1 ypc in 2010, 3.8 in 2011, 3.6 in 2012). Gillislee is a dynamic RB who's been good against good D's (140 vs FSU, 146 vs LSU, etc). Forget bruising RB's already. 5. Tyrann Mathieu, CB, LSU -Once again, another SEC player who is a special player with the ball in his hands. He's too small to play CB but he'd be a good nickel with Moore being a UFA after 2012. Plus, they'll need a KR/PR. 6. Mario Benavides, C, Louisville -Never too early to look ahead at Garza's replacement 7. Carson York, OT, Oregon -OT depth
  10. I see what you did here, but you make it seem like Jennings, Hayden, Tillman, Wright, Toeaina, Melton, Collins, Louis, Spencer, Williams, Garza, and Webb will all be on other teams in 2014. BTW, you claim they should draft Geathers but then say they need DE's when he is a DT. Warford and Fisher would be a great top 2 picks, however, I'd rather see them sign Jake Long and use their 1st round pick to trade down and pick up an extra 3rd. With that, go OG-LB-TE and so on.
  11. Bush was limited all last week in practice with bruised ribs. He probably reaggravated them on his lone carry. He played only 2 snaps.
  12. If the Bears just win 1 more, Washington would have to go 1-2, Dallas 2-1 or worse, and Minnesota 2-1 or worse. That would make all of the teams 9-7 except for Washington (8-8). The Bears hold the tiebreaker against DAL and MIN.
  13. Now I want to start this by saying the team still could technically win a championship this year, but losing 4 of the last 5 is no way of gaining momentum to achieve such an accomplishment. 2012 offseason: TRADE: Marshall RE-SIGN: Jennings, Idonije EXTENSIONS: Briggs, Forte SIGN: Costanzo, Weems, Bush, Campbell, Rachal, Hayes, Wilhite, Hayden DRAFT: McClellin, Jeffery, Hardin, Rodriguez, Frey, McCoy I realize it's extremely tough to criticize a draft 8 months after it takes place, but their draft has the potential to go down as horrible. Rodriguez is too small to play TE and so he plays out of position at FB. At the moment, Conte and Wright are solid and Hardin has nowhere to play if he ever gets healthy. Jeffery has shown me a glimmer of potential of being a #2 WR, but he isn't very fast and he's been hurt. McClellin has to bulk up immensely. Frey and McCoy are gone. GRADE: F So far, the Weems and Costanzo pick-ups have been solid. Special teams isn't exactly sexy so they don't get a lot of credit, but I believe these two lead the team in ST tackles. Bush has been mediocre and Campbell wasn't good in his start, despite getting no OL help. Rachal is a quitter and stunk anyhow. Hayes played average today. Wilhite is long gone and Hayden sucks. GRADE: D+ Obviously, signing Briggs was nice. He's happy now and he's playing well. Forte has been a bit of a bust, and I really hope he's running like he's carrying a truck because his ankle is still bothering him, but it might be a case of "I got paid so f*** it." Regardless, these two needed to stay. GRADE: B- Keeping Jennings was huge. Idonije is a nice role player but still isn't very good. GRADE: A Trading for Marshall was huge. No complaints here with the exception of a few drops. GRADE: A+ In summary: Emery's first offseason was good because he kept two guys, signed two to extensions, and traded for one. But this team needed youth and an impactful draft. So far, they haven't gotten that. Their two best FA signings at the time were two guys who have proven to be average in Bush and Campbell. Instead, his 2 best signings are ST players. If he has another offseason in 2013 like he did in 2012, the Bears are in trouble.
  14. Yeah, well, unless the Bears plan on using their 1st round pick on a 3-4 OLB in hopes of finding JJ Watt and Clay Matthews, don't count on it working. Alex Okafor from Texas and Sam Montgomery are options there. But like I said, it has to actually work, and Emery's first draft has been horrendous 14 weeks in.
  15. Holmgren would want personnel power and that backfired big time in Cleveland. I'm the one who brought up Arians. He seems like a Bears guy. Quiet, will be a yes-man. I will say that maybe there's something about him because I believe he won 2 rings as the OC in Pittsburgh but no one has ever given him a chance.
  16. He didn't well. He played OK. Drops and slips don't help but he was short on a few throws and some sail on him. Read my posts in the Davis&Hester thread. We're in agreement.
  17. What? That throw to Jeffery would've been on the money. He had 1 on 1 and the safety was slow to get over there. If Jeffery stays on his feet, it's a gain of 15. Jeffery and Hester also dropped TD's. Cutler did his job, but he can't run down the field and hand it to the receivers. They traded up and drafted Jeffery because he was a big receiver with good hands. So far, he's shown to be injury prone with shakey hands. Cutler didn't play good, but he certainly didn't lose the game. The lack of execution from the "skill position" players was.
  18. The Bears have 4 dropped TD's in the past 3 weeks.
  19. Not if you win the last 2 games, although winning 2 straight on the road is tough.
  20. -The WR's/TE's can't catch. Marshall had 2 drops today as did Kellen Davis. Hester and Jeffery EACH dropped a TD. -Cutler didn't play well although drops never help. -Even though the OL is playing alright, they had a hold and then a false start on the one drive after Forte had a long run + a personal foul. -Forte had 85 yards on 13 carries. Only 13 carries? Why even sign him to an extension then?
  21. If not, I wouldn't mind giving Titus Young a try. I know he was a complete assclown in Detroit, but maybe like the rest of the country, he's sick of Jim Schwartz being the biggest d-bag in football. He's got great speed. If he's a tool here, cut him.
  22. On that play, Bennett falls and hits his head and then the defender comes and shoves his head back into the ground. If I had a guess, I'd say the concussion happened after the drop.
  23. I will say that if there is ever a game for Jennings to miss, it's tomorrow. Minnesota's passing game is horrendous.
