  1. Tim Dobbins is clearly a huge f***ing moron. Speaking of morons, did anyone see Rick Reilly's tweet about Cutler? Cutler didn't give him the time and place before the Seahawks/Bears playoff game in 2010 and now Reilly can't help himself but to rip Cutler with every chance he gets. The tweet read something like "Bears' doctors knew Cutler was concussed when he was actually friendly to others on the sideline."
  2. How about Gould's missed FG? Mr. "Good as Gould" has 3 misses in his last 4 games now. How about Bush's fumble? The dumbass had a first down by 7 yards and instead of falling, he tried to keep going for a whole ONE yard and lost the ball. How about Hester's drop? Now I know it hit him in a bad spot (his hands), but I swear to God, if he's on the Bears next year for anything over $3M, I'll puke. He sucks. How about Marshall's drop in the endzone? Again, it hit him RIGHT in the hands for an easy TD. Let's not act like Cutler's 2 INT's were the 2 biggest mistakes of the game. Bush had a fumble, Gould missed a FG, Marshall and Hester had drops, etc. It doesn't matter. You take your chances with Jay Cutler over Jason Campbell for 30 minutes of football, whether Cutler played poorly or not. He usually plays much better in the 2nd half of games. But yes, Davis is f***ing terrible. I'm happy he was booed when he got up from his injury.
  3. I said before the year that there were 1 or 2 WR's that I would 100% take over Marshall. Now, I don't even know if he's not the best WR in football. His hands have been better than advertised this year. He's being good off the field. He's clearly a difference maker. I believe he's #2 in the NFL in yards and TD's and 3rd or 4th in receptions. Calvin Johnson has been hurt this year + he only has 1 TD. Fitzgerald is being hampered by 2 bad QB's. Nelson has been just OK and Jennings had been hurt. The only WR's who have been outstanding this year are Julio Jones, Randall Cobb, Brandon Marshall, Percy Harvin, and Reggie Wayne.
  4. I don't know where everyone is getting these forecasts from. Using weather.com and the 60605 zip code (where Soldier Field is located), the weather says windy and 63 with a 10% chance of rain. For Monday, it says 39 and a 20% chance of rain. So yes, maybe the temperatures will be in the 40's and it will be windy, but I don't get where 90% chance of rain is coming from (Zaidman had 80% chance of rain yesterday). However, 45 degrees and wind gusts definitely helps the Bears. 20-17 Bears
  5. This is pretty much the thing I love about Cutler. He truly could not care less about what anyone has to say. A lot of athletes say it but you can tell Cutler cares about one thing- winning football games.
  6. Does Jeffery still have the longest catch of the year after Cutler's TD to Marshall yesterday? Anyhow, yes they are missing Jeffery. He was doing really well and much better than I thought. Bennett is a solid slot guy playing the X and Y right now. When he's not and is in the slot, Hester is at the X or Y, and we all know he's not either guy and maybe not even a slot WR. When Jeffery comes back against the 49ers, the Bears offense will start to look more smooth and in rhythm.
  7. I just have an actual question about Jonathan Martin. Isn't he a RT? This board would be pissed right now if he was drafted, because he's not a LT and then they wasted a 1st round pick on a RT last year in Carimi and technically gave up on Carimi after 3 career games.
  8. Right now, they're playing unbelievable football. If it wasn't for the offensive s***show in Green Bay week 2, they'd be 8-0. Even on that night, Tillman forced a fumble and Jennings had an INT. In that game, the defense only gave up 16 points.
  9. Johnny Knox did what Knox did best on the INT that resulted in the broken thumb- he fell. The OL had nothing to do with the INT. Whether he was falling, running his routes poorly, or dropping passes, Johnny Knox was a bad WR. Once again, all I said Emery had a lot of holes to fill and did his best to fill most of them. There weren't a lot of OL out there in FA who were a definite upgrade. Riley Reiff at 19 would've been horrendous; he's doing OK in Detroit but they're using him sparingly out of a jumbo package. If he's not an upgrade up there over Backus and Cherilus, he wouldn't have been here.
  10. How can you say the D has been the reason the Bears have been good since 2010? Are you even watching the games? This year, the D has carried the O, obviously. Look back in the 2nd half of 2010. Look from weeks 4-8 last year when the offense was scoring 30 ppg. And to even say Forte > Cutler in terms of team importance is crazy. Cutler is a good QB with decent IQ and great talent. Does it show always? No. Did Brett Favre's? No. Does Tom Brady's? No. Yeah, he'll have bad mechanics. There are about 6 QB's with good mechanics in the NFL. What's your point? Throw into triple coverage? He's done that once this year. How do I say back-up QB is more of a need than OL? Because with an even worse OL last year, had they had a QB to replace Cutler with the capabilities of Campbell, they make the playoffs. That's how.
  11. Emery fixed the back-up QB issues, DL depth problems, WR holes, secondary issues, and ST because of the loss of Corey Graham. Had he not done the first one, they'd still have Hanie. Happy? No. Had he not gotten Marshall and Jeffery, they'd have Hester and Bennett. Satisfied? Hardly. Had he not kept Idonije and drafted McClellin, the D-line's depth would be f***ed. That'd be great. NOT. Had he let Graham go and gotten nobody to replace him (Costanzo and Weems), the ST would be even worse than it already is. Had he not kept Jennings + signed Hayden, how good would this elite D be? Probably not so elite. Emery had a lot of holes to fill and did his best. I'm sure he'll once again do all he can in 2013 to add better players to this team and it'll likely start on the OL. Besides, how was he supposed to know Carimi was going to be THIS f***ing bad? We could have the Cutler debate all day. He's won 25 of his last 34 starts, 11 of his last 12, and 13 of his last 17. He's won 8 straight at home. He leads all QB's in 4th quarter QB rating. If he hadn't gotten hurt in 2010 they might've won a championship. If he hadn't got hurt last year, there was no way they weren't going to the playoffs. Consider all of those things and then remind yourself how much talent he had his first 3 years here + the OL talent he's had for every year he's been here. If that's not worth 2 first round picks (both selections busted for Denver, I might add) and $7.7m this year, then your opinion of "worth" is too far out there for me. I'll leave it at that.
  12. Devin Hester is the most useless + overpaid player on the Bears roster right now. Is Spaeth more useless? Perhaps. Spencer? Yeah. But when you combine his insane salary + how he's done this year, he is the biggest waste of money on the team. But back to the Bears and SOS. The Colts beat the Packers. The Bears beat the Colts. The Packers beat the Jags by 9. The Bears beat them by 38. The Bears beat Dallas. Dallas beat the Giants once and lost to them by FIVE another time. I don't want to hear the Bears haven't beaten anyone. If they beat Houston 31-28, it's "the D has been bad lately." If they win 16-15, it's "the O is still bad." They can't win with most of the fans and the media. If they come out Sunday and beat the Titans (28th against the run, 29th against the pass) by 4 TD's, everyone will say "big deal; they finally moved the ball but it was against Tennessee." Am I right? Everyone WANTS them to beat every bad team 41-3. When they do, "they haven't beaten any good team." When they beat a solid team like Indy, it's "so what, it's the Colts." But when they lose to the Packers, it's "who cares who they've beaten if they've lost to the Packers." I don't understand it quite frankly. More examples: -They beat SF in 3 weeks 10-9. Media: "Cutler is average." -They beat SF in 3 weeks 21-20. Media: "How good is this D if they give up 20 points to the 49ers?" -They beat GB in December 27-20 because of a Hester PR TD + INT for a TD but Cutler has 3 INT's. Media: "Cutler still sucks against GB." -They beat GB in December 38-34 because Cutler picks up the D with a 5 TD game. Media: "If the D does that in the playoffs against Eli Manning, they have no shot!" The way I look at it: the Bears have to go 5-4 the rest of the way. Beat Minnesota once, Seattle, Tennessee, Arizona, and Detroit. I couldn't give a shit if the Bears have beaten the Iowa Hawkeyes this year. You don't apologize for wins in this league. Any team that isn't 6-1 this year I bet would LOVE to be 6-1 right now. By my count, there are 17 teams in the NFL at or under .500 at the moment. SEVENTEEN. It's hard to "have beaten anyone" when everyone sucks.
  13. So, Cutler beats the Cowboys who almost beat the Giants today, the Colts who beat GB and is 4-3, and Jacksonville who lost in GB today by a whole 9 points, but we "have to wait until he beats a quality opponent" just because he can't beat Green Bay? That doesn't make much sense. I understand he eventually has to beat the Pack, but to say "who cares what he does; let's wait until December 16" is a tad ridiculous. He also leads all NFL QB's in 4th quarter QB rating.
  14. Wait until the media gets ahold of that clip. "First Webb, now Rachal. Cutler is a bully to his OL."
  15. Remember the Rams game this year when the Bears D dominated but the O was vanilla? I expect the same tomorrow. Cutler's ribs will be bugging him. 20-10 Bears
  16. I can't believe the things I'm reading here about the defense and Cutler. 1. Defense: You hate it? It's not really bend-don't-break anymore. It used to be a defense that would give up a lot of yards but would eventually take the ball away. This year, they're 6th in the NFL in terms of yards given up. They're taking the ball away. They're hitting the QB. Their CB's are playing amazing. It's a dominant defense right now. 2. Cutler: He's 24-9 in his last 33 starts with the Bears. He's never really had any elite o-line men or WR's (until Marshall this year). His 2nd best WR is hurt at the moment (Jeffery) and his favorite target (Bennett) was out against the Cowboys and Jaguars. As someone else mentioned, he's also had to deal with a lot of offensive coaching turnover and thus scheme turnover. In terms of his attitude, it's getting better. He's doing a weekly radio show. He laughs more in press conferences. He's always done charity work. If anyone here thinks ANY other quarterback could've done what Cutler has since 2010 with what he's had to cope with, you're wrong, and I mean ANY quarterback.
  17. MJD has a foot sprain. Cutler had an MCL sprain. So, why would MJD call him soft if he's out with a lesser injury. Hmm..?
  18. Rams beat the 4-0 (at the time) Cardinals. Indianapolis beat Green Bay. Detroit just won in Philadelphia. The Bears beat all 3. You can't control who the Bears have played. They're 5-1. They could've easily lost to Indy, like Green Bay did, or lost to the Rams, like Arizona did. Giants Falcons Bears 49ers Packers (NFC Ranks)
  19. Cutler has the worst 1st quarter passer rating (16.7) but the best 4th quarter passer rating (118.4). Cutler is 9-1 in his last 10. Cutler 21-26, 287 yards, 2 TD's, 1 INT Marshall 11 catches, 154 yards, 2 TD's Bears 23-20
  20. I'm not so sure that GB is better than the Bears are. Yes, I know they beat the Bears, but they won by a whole 13 points in Green Bay despite drastically winning the turnover battle. They were very, very impressive on Sunday in Houston, but that's just one game. As for the best front-4 in football, I don't know how the Bears aren't. Don't they lead the NFL in sacks? Yeah, the Giants have "done it longer" or whatever and have 2 rings to prove it, but last I checked, it's who has the best front-4 RIGHT NOW. Peppers has been slowed to a foot injury, and yet, they continue to pressure the QB. Wootton is playing well, Melton might be the best DT in football, McClellin is still on pace for about 6.5/7 sacks, and Idonije has been decent.
  21. Signing Eldridge isn't really that big of a mystery to me. Rodriguez will finally be back on Monday, and maybe he's not 100%. In case he can't finish the game or get as many reps as they want, Eldridge can play FB too. This will allow Spaeth to help Webb or Carimi with the Lions' DE's.
  22. If Urlacher and Hester walk, that frees up a lot of money. Plus, Cutler isn't a FA until after next season. While it's not ideal to let him go into the season as a lame duck, he'd probably rather have Clady or Long protecting his life and wait a month or so to get an extension than to get an extension right away and continue to get clobbered thanks to Webb.
  23. Thanks for posting that, jason. It is an interesting article. If the Bears D continues to play this week, I would never count the Bears out of a game before the game was played, that's for sure. Since 2010, they are very good offensively after the bye, so even if their D falls off a bit, their offense is about to explode.
  24. Vikings lost today, so the Bears are in sole possession of 1st place.
