  1. And this is of course knowing for a fact that it wouldn't be the 48th overall pick that the Patriots received from Oakland, right? This isn't about winning a Super Bowl. I doubt any NFC team hesitates making a deal with an AFC team because of the potential of meeting up in the Super Bowl. Brady and Forte would be a great combo, for now, but what about in 4 years, when Brady will be making $18 million annually and Forte anywhere between $8-10 million? Of course the Bears are "going for it" this year, but is a fresh rookie who has the potential to be dynamic teamed with Michael Bush really a huge drop off from Matt Forte, who has TONS of mileage on him? I'm not sure. Like you posted the other day, what Super Bowl winner over the past handful of years has had a GREAT back on their team? And again, you're assuming the Bears can "hang onto Forte for another year." What if he continues to say no to the Bears FAIR offer and he holds out? Then what? This is all sort of useless to talk about though, because Adam Schefter tweeted about an hour ago that this will not happen.
  2. David Wilson from Virginia Tech, Doug Martin from Boise State, and Lamar Miller from Miami are the three guys that come to mind right away.
  3. Demetrius Bell doesn't sound like he's better than J'Marcus Webb?
  4. If the Patriots want to give the Bears a 2nd, 4th, and the Bears get another high pick next year (2nd or 3rd), how could the Bears NOT do that?
  5. I assume you mean Martin when you say Mating, so your statement is not a foregone conclusion by any stretch of the imagination. Martin had a bad pro day and has short arms. On top of it, he's not that big. Adams wasn't all that at Ohio State and has concentration lapses.
  6. The PUP list means he can't play the first 6 weeks of the year. IR means out for the year. I think it's premature of everyone to say that "NO KNOX 2012."
  7. What did Denver see that even a CFL team didn't? Yikes.
  8. If they're going to get anyone, I'd rather see them sign Demetrius Bell over anyone else. Bell has proven that he is a solid LT if he's healthy. With Jonathan Martin being more of a RT or OG in the NFL and his stock falling, Mike Adams being a RT, and Reiff and Kalil being gone for sure by 19, the toughest position to come by in the draft will be LT. They can find an OLB, DT, DE, another WR, and a S in the draft.
  9. Plummer. As for your post, I agree with it all, except Tannehill. The Bears SHOULD NOT consider him. If they do, it should be to draft him and trade him, but in the NFL, typically the selections are traded. In the NBA, guys are drafted and later traded.
  10. That's why I said: "So before the draft, you want the Bears to re-sign Okoye, extend Forte, and either sign Bell, McNeil, Hawthorne, Lawson, OR a CB?" With the recent acquisition of Michael Bush, the Bears don't have room to keep Okoye AND sign a corner, offensive tackle, OR a linebacker.
  11. You're positive? I think it's safe to say Webb will never pan out.
  12. No. As for Irvin, this seems like a stupid pick. He's too small to be a DE or even a situational DE in the NFL in a 4-3 D. If you combine that with the fact that he has a bad off the field recrd, I really hope this is a smokescreen.
  13. So before the draft, you want the Bears to re-sign Okoye, extend Forte, and either sign Bell, McNeil, Hawthorne, Lawson, or a CB?
  14. Maybe they signed him to a 1 year deal to do some custodial duties. Or maybe he'll stir up the gatorade prior to Seahawks games. Who knows?
  15. 1. Jonathan Martin, OT, Stanford ---Finally, a franchise LT for Cutler. 2. Chandler Jones, DE, Syracuse ---Jones looks like, with a few pounds added, a future 8-9 sack NFL player. 3. Josh Norman, CB, Coastal Carolina ---Norman's stock really rose recently, and the Bears need a young CB. 4. TY Hilton, WR, Florida International ---Hilton had a huge pro day, running in the 4.3's. If they're interested in Kendall Wright, a smaller WR, they should look at Hilton as well. 5. Senio Kelemete, OG, Washington ---Emery said OL will be stressed in the draft, and Kelemete is a good player. 6. Aaron Henry, S, Wisconsin ---Depth safety in case, or when, Wright f***s up again. 7. Kyle Wilber, ILB, Wake Forest ---LB depth.
  16. Peppers even lined up at DT some. There was talk that if the Bears signed Mario Williams, there would be times where Williams or Peppers would play DE, and the other would play right next to him at DT.
  17. 1) Martin, 2) Coples, 3) Floyd. I picked Martin #1 because he is a very smart player and put on weight recently. I think he is a better RT fit in the NFL than a LT fit, but with coaching from Tice, I think he can be a solid LT in the NFL, which makes him 498x better than Webb. Coples would be interesting, because he has so much potential and the Bears have a need at DE, but there are a lot of people who think he doesn't take football seriously enough. I think if he's there at 19, he'll be too big of a prospect for Lovie to pass up. I like Floyd, don't get me wrong, but this is a very deep WR class, and there are plenty of WR's who the Bears can take in the 3rd or 4th round who can make an impact and who can be good #2/3 WR's in the NFL (Criner, Jenkins, McNutt, Hilton, Streeter).
  18. I just wish Forte would shut up. How would anyone say he's been a "pro" throughout the whole process? A pro would've been him saying "I only want to play for the Bears. I hope my agent can get something done with them. I want to receive a fair deal and I want my deal to give the organization room to sign more players. I understand RB's have a short shelf life in this league." That would've been professional. Instead, he didn't accept a very reasonable deal offered, he's retweeting people on twitter weekly that say s*** like "PAY FORTE," and he's even going on radio and talk shows asking for a new deal. Those same people wanting an extension for Forte will be the ones who will be pissed at Emery 3 years into Forte's 6 year extension saying "Emery is a f***ing idiot. Why did he give a running back coming off an injury a 6 year extension who already had 4 years in the league? WTF. Now our cap situation is screwed." Get a grip on things, people. This Bush signing has more to do with Barber's future in Chicago than Forte's, anyway. If a team wants to give the Bears a 1st round pick for Forte, go for it, Emery. And BTW, f*** Greg Olsen. Stop tweeting about the Bears' issues. You're in Carolina now, a place where no one even knows professional football exists. How does that f***ing taste, loser? You were an overrated sack of garbage here and the Bears should feel lucky a team gave them a 3rd round pick for your lazy ass. If you want to comment on how a team handles their RB situation, talk to your own president, owner, and GM. Those guys were the same ones who recently signed Mike Tolbert a year after overpaying for DeAngelo Williams and a few years after drafting Jonathan Stewart, telling everyone who cares in Charlotte that either Stewart or Williams will be cut or traded soon. Athletic tight end my ass.
  19. RT @dpbrugler: WR Kendall Wright had dinner with the Bears coaches last night and will visit Chicago early April. Won't get past 19. #NFLDraft (Brugler is a CBS draft guy)
  20. I believe some type of camps start April 16, actually.
  21. There's a quote out there that Emery says they'll seriously address the OL via the draft. So, if the draft comes and goes and the OL is the same lineup, then I'd be worried about Emery thinking the same way as Angelo did.
  22. If he's there at 19 and the Bears don't select him, yeah, I'd be shocked.
  23. How does that help the pass rush though? I know Lovie, in your opinion, always goes D over O, but seriously, Wootton and Idonije stink, so...? Getting a solid player opposite Peppers now and a guy who might be really good in 2-3 years is really important.
  24. I was going to do a mock yesterday and my first 2 picks were going to be Mercilus and Massie, so nice job there. As for your WR's, I see you have "Smith" being the #4. Who is Smith?
