  1. That's 100% false. If he signs a 6 year $100m deal here, Stein can work his magic. If you include backloading and the guarantee money, it's very possible that he could make only about $10-12m this year.
  2. I would love Williams, but PFT reported earlier that Colston is close to signing an extension with the Saints. He supposedly really wants to stay there. If he signs, the Bears have to go all in with Jackson and forget about Williams, or else they'll settling for Manningham and Lloyd, two more WR's who aren't overly big. Even if he doesn't re-up in New Orlenas, it sounds like he might get too homesick being away from the comforts of the nice weather NFC South cities and the turf in the Superdome.
  3. Eric Winston would be a tremendous addition. He's been a durable player on a great OL. Peter King even tweeted earlier that whoever signs him will be getting a top 5 OT.
  4. @vxmcclure23: Bears had offered a two-year contract to Bell with about half mil guaranteed. Could still negotiate that deal or be set with $1.26 million. @vxmcclure23: $1.26 million tender for Bell. @vxmcclure23: Bears tender restricted free-agent RB Kahlil Bell.
  5. @vxmcclure23: As reported, Marion Barber apparently told folks he doesn't expect to be back. He also moved out of his Chicago-area apartment, source said.
  6. It's looking like Bears vs Bucs for Jackson's rights now.
  7. RT @JasonColeYahoo: Aside from the Jets, as report by ESPN's Rich Cimini, Chi and Philly appear interested in LaRon Landry. Wash wants him back.
  8. If Minnesota just packs it in for the last 2 weeks of the year, Peterson doesn't tear his ACL, and they lose to Washington, thus giving them the #2 pick and thus giving them a king's ransom for that pick which essentially sets them up for a great future with lots of high draft picks. So, thanks, morons.
  9. It's a bad idea. Bennett is a former 2nd round pick who has all of the tools but a brain that's the size of a gnat. He's never accomplished anything or done anything really well, and that's because his work ethic sucks. Figure in the fact that I believe he doesn't have a TD since his rookie year, and it's an even more terrible of an idea. This is becoming a TE league, but the Bears can't solve their TE issues by signing a bum like Martellus Bennett.
  10. I think you're underestimating the contracts these guys would want and the contracts the Bears would dish out to these guys. Why would Grubbs only take 4 years? He's 28 years old and just had the best season of his life. Why would Kamerion Wimbley only want 2 years? He's going to be released from a 5 year deal. Why would the Bears give Dan Connor 6 years? He's been in the NFL for 4 years and has played in 3, 16, 8, and 15 games. Why would the Bears give John Carlson 5 years? He's an average TE and didn't even play last year.
  11. Hutchinson is still a damn good player, and IIRC, interior OL usually have a nice shelf life in the NFL. If he can play 2-3 more years at a high level and Grubbs is too expensive, the Bears should at least make a call.
  12. I meant it as: "their goal is to bring in Kamerion Wimbley, a former 3-4 OLB." My fault. I should've switched around the wording.
  13. I'll go with my guy and vote Washington.
  14. That's what I said about a month ago, but I won't take credit as I quickly jumped off that bandwagon. I guess it escaped my thoughts with FA and the draft. This wouldn't be a bad idea. If my math is right, the 2013 season will be Forte's 6th NFL year. Typically, that's when RB's legs begin to go bye-bye. For this reason alone, I'd like to see the Bears take a RB in round 4 or 5 this year.
  15. I would look at that from a positive point of view. Urlacher's deal is up soon, Peppers has 5 years left but he won't play that out, Tillman's is likely up soon as well, and Briggs wants out so he may be gone soon. On that note, all of those big deals are up, and the Bears have tried to win with a good D and an average O. It hasn't worked. Yeah, maybe the Pats and Pack survived this whole time because of Rodgers and Brady, but IMO, Cutler can be really good also with a solid OL and some WR's. I want them to build a juggernaut offense, and it would start with Jackson. Maybe he wouldn't make it a juggernaut single handedly, but he'd help and maybe it opens the door to more offensive FA's in the future. Plus, opposing defenses might focus on Jackson thus helping a rookie WR and Bennett thrive. Cutler will be 30 soon. The time is now. I can make an argument that in 2010, the Bears were a healthy MCL away from winning the Super Bowl, and that was with a bad WR corps and a brutal OL. Add in a veteran good WR and OL and they might be in the SB discussion again. Oh, and trust me: Jackson will not be "bad" here.
  16. Is that why the Packers and Patriots are dead? Because average/decent/good players like Dan Koppen, AJ Hawk, Ryan Grant, and Desmond Bishop are being paid better than most of the guys on those two teams? Your argument is so ridiculous. No franchise will "die" because Vincent Jackson will make $11m next year, especially one that has triple that in cap space like the Bears do. Granted, it may end up not being totally worth it, but it depends on what people think is worth it from Jackson. If he catches 1100+ yards and 8 TD's a year for the next 3 years, and his last 2 years he has about 900 yards and 6 TD's a season, I would say that ends up being worth it.
  17. 1. The Bears are going to make a serious push at Vincent Jackson. While you might be saying "wow, what a great source you have," it's believed to be a potential upset inside the Bears organization if he doesn't end up as a Bear. They're going to make every effort to have him wearing a Bears jersey next year. 2. This isn't really anything new, but they probably won't be making a push for Mario Williams. Their goal is to add a former 3-4 OLB, like Kamerion Wimbley, as the DE opposite of Peppers, sign Jackson, and go after a veteran OL in FA. Wimbley made a little more than $9m last year, so look for his deal with the Bears (if he signs here) to be around $7.5m. 3. Don't be surprised if the Bears still take a WR with the 19th pick, although it's possible that they still may go DE at 19, even if they sign Wimbley, because they are all well aware of Idonije's down year in 2011. 4. Although reports came out today that said otherwise, people all over the league believe Peyton Manning will be going to the Redskins soon. However, with so many other teams in play for Manning, don't hold me to this one. Again, I've been wrong before, but I enjoy sharing this stuff with you guys, so believe what you'd like and we'll see what happens soon.
  18. John Carlson was never with Oakland. Not a bad idea in terms of distributing money, but Laurent Robinson is more of a #2 and a redzone target. Randle is really raw, and he won't be ready for 2-3 years. Bennett would be the #1 still, and that just won't cut it. Sorry.
  19. Good riddance. You were awful.
  20. Wayne is going where Manning goes, and Garcon might even do the same. On that note, there is no one to sign if they don't sign Jackson or Colston.
  21. I'm not so sure I'd call Jackson "mediocre." He's probably a top 20 WR. In no order.. Jennings, Fitz, Megatron, A.Johnson, S.Johnson, Welker, Marshall, AJ Green, Wallace, Holmes, Britt, Bowe, S.Smith, White, Nicks, D.Jackson, Dez Bryant. That's 17 off the top of my head that are equal to (D.Jackson, Britt, Holmes, Bryant, S.Johnson, Welker) or better (the rest) than Jackson is. You could say Jordy Nelson, Percy Harvin, Reggie Wayne, and Marques Colston are in the discussion as well. I might be leaving a few off as this was off of the top of my head.
