  1. I'm still lost though with how this saves significant cap room over a franchise tag.
  2. I would disagree, in a sense. They need 1100 yards and 8 TD's, but they don't need him to "dominate." Bennett is going to get plenty of targets with his chemistry with Cutler and Forte will get his touches. They just need Jackson to be a big threat who keeps opposing defenses honest, but at the same, catch mostly everything thrown his way, which will include touchdowns, big plays, and inaccurate passes on occasion.
  3. The Bears don't need Jackson to be a 80+ catch guy. They need him to catch 65-70 passes and be a good 3rd down and red zone target. They have Bennett too, and for him being "average" up to most NFL wideouts, he's proved to be a good one here with Cutler. Also, they'll probably draft another WR in the first 3 rounds. Oh, and don't give me the "he has a bad attitude stuff." I'm happy he does. Hester, Bennett and Sanzenbacher are all kind of no-emotion no-talk guys. Talk a little s*** here and there. This is f***ing Chicago. As for the DUI's, so what? Michael Floyd has what, 2 or 3 of those? We all still want him too. All in all, if you think Jackson has to be the savior and be Larry Fitzgerald East, stop. He'll come here and be a good player with about 67 catches and 9 TD's annually.
  4. I want either Jackson and Grubbs, Colston and Williams, Colston and Grubbs, or Williams and Grubbs, so I think we agree that a UFA OL is necessary for this team, whether he's a Pro Bowler (Grubbs) or he's a solid back-up (Collins).
  5. Show me a defensive lineman besides Justin Smith who goes balls-out, 110% every play. Please.
  6. Wow, that link Balta provided can spell doom for the Saints. We all knew they were probably going to lose their 2nd round pick this year, and a 1st and 3rd next year + fines for Benson, Loomis, and Payton (plus a 1-3 game suspension for Payton), but this might mean Payton will be suspended all year, and Gregg Williams might be banned for life. Not only this, but their key defensive players who were involved might even get 1-3 games, like Vilma. Also, don't be surprised if Brees gets 1 or 2 games. He's like an assistant head coach there and if Payton knew about this, Brees probably did too. On top of all of this, Brees is supposedly "livid" about the franchise tag. The Saints become the Saints before 2006 that we all grew to know and beat 40-0 weekly.
  7. Apparently not. You and I must be the only two left.
  8. It wasn't? He's been a beast since he signed his deal.
  9. Didn't we hear the same "lazy and unprofessional" garbage about Peppers too?
  10. Burnt orange? I would say the Bears orange is just "orange." When I hear burnt orange, I think University of Texas orange.
  11. Where does this come from though?
  12. I'm not good at math, at all, and I'm not very good with the cap space thing too, so I have a question. People say the Bears need to extend Forte to a bigger deal so $7.7m isn't on the cap this year and they keep saying it's because of the guaranteed money. How does that work? To help me, just use this: 5 years, $40 million, $20 million guaranteed. Does this mean it's only like 5 years, $20 million against the cap, or what? Thanks in advance.
  13. John Clayton also tweeted earlier that everyone should watch for Chicago to make a serious push for Jackson. He then went on SC and said the same thing that when he talks to people around the league, they all mention the Bears when they talk about Jackson. He also said the Jaguars and Vikings might also make an offer. I would go Jackson over Colston, because Jackson is bigger, stronger, and he hasn't played in a dome his whole career. If you look at the stats, Colston averages more ypc on grass than on turf, but Jackson does too, and he averages more ypc overall than Colston does anyway. As for McClure, I trust him more than any beat writer, and I would if I were you guys as well. I know he has a really good track record, and I know he is really good friends with a few players on the team, most notably Brian Urlacher.
  14. Go Colston and Williams, and go OT and OG in the first 2 rounds?
  15. RT @SI_PeterKing: RT @AdamSchefter: Bills and WR Stevie Johnson are on the verge of a five-year contract that is likely to be completed in the next 24 hours. Down to Bowe, Jackson, and Colston now.
  16. No, stop with the Levi Brown stuff. The guy is garbage and is one of the worst OT's in football. I don't want him as a back-up RT either. Trust Carimi and bring in a solid OT in FA, such as Anthony Collins from the Bengals, and a 4th or 5th rounder to compete as a back-up. As far as Garcon goes, he is not "head and shoulders" above the Bears WR's. He's just like Knox- bad hands and fast. He also reportedly turned down a 4-5 year extension worth about $4-5m per from Indianapolis, which proves that he thinks he's much much better than he really is. Of course, he might just want out of Indy and would take that from someone else and maybe he is truly better than Knox, Hester, and Sanzenbacher, but the Bears need definite upgrades on the OL and with their WR's, not guys who might be decent #3 or #4 WR's for the next 3 years. Johnson/Jackson/Colston and Grubbs would be a nice FA period, and then go BPA at 19. Just my 2 cents.
  17. If I'm not mistaken, I think the Chiefs have until 11:59 tomorrow. As for Jackson, I've heard they won't tag him in San Diego. If they do, his cap hit would be around $13.3 million.
  18. 4 years, $31m, $17/18 guaranteed. per Jay Glazer Not surprising. That's what Forte should accept.
  19. "Neither has panned out but it's not too late in their careers." Um, no s***. Conte has played in like 12 games.
  20. But just imagine if Emery signed Williams and Jackson, or Colston and Williams.
  21. Dwight Jones' stock has really fallen, and yes, they need to draft a LB in there. Curry is probably a 3-4 DE or OLB, and definitely not worth a flyer for Chicago in the second round. Taking Rainey anywhere would be useless. He's really small and supposedly really fast, but his 40 time at the combine wasn't all that great for a world track star. Hosley and Martin would be nice picks though.
  22. What I don't understand is that these bounties were supposedly for $1,500-$2,000. Why do those players need that? That's like $10 to all of us. Some of those players made $300,000+/game. I really don't like Earl Bennett saying "I hope we play them again." What are you going to do? Catch a pass and swerve right at a defender? Wow, that'll do a lot.
  23. He won't get big money from the Bears, or from any team for that matter. He's not a good LT at all. He's a natural RT who the Cardinals tried to play at LT, and that's one of the main reasons the Cardinals had a despicable OL last year. And really, I don't want to hear anymore "well, he'd be an upgrade over Webb." Yeah, so would my grandma. This team needs QUALITY linemen, not guys who are "a little better than the worst OT in football." Webb is horrendous, and Brown sucks. Here are some Cardinals' fans comments on him on PFT:
