  1. Trust me, Mike Tice doesn't like J'Marcus Webb one bit. He's just saying what he has to. As for that mock, that would be worth it, if a WR is signed in FA. Martin has the potential to be a very good LT with another 10 pounds added, and apparently he came to the combine with 7 more pounds added, which puts him around 311. Obviously, he's already very intelligent being a Stanford student, and he's already a really good run blocker. Signing Vincent Jackson, keeping Forte, and drafting Martin would make for a GREAT offseason.
  2. If Jonathan Martin falls to the Bears, he just has to be the pick. Granted, this is counting on the fact that a big time WR will be signed in FA.
  3. He almost lost me with his first lineup that had Webb at LT still. However, I don't like the idea of playing Louis ahead of Chris Williams. Williams was the Bears best OL this year up until his injury, and he's a much better all-around OG than Louis is. I like Louis to stay on the roster as a RT back-up as well as a back-up OG, but if they have Nicks, Williams, and Louis, Louis should be the odd man out.
  4. Honestly, I couldn't give a s*** what Jerry Rice says. His English is on par with Emmitt Smith's, and so he might just be illiterate. He also claimed Wes Welker is a "terrific work product," whatever that means. Oh, and he called Marques Colston "Mar-keez Colston." I understand he's the greatest WR of all time, but the fact that he thinks DeSean Jackson and Reggie Wayne are better FA options than Dwayne Bowe just proves how big of an idiot he truly is. As for Wallace, I'll say pass. He'd be a great acquisition, but the Bears need big WR's, not another shorter/quick type. Plus, if they sign 2 WR's, then they can use that pick for a CB, DE, C, or OT, all of which are positions that the Bears need to get younger and better at.
  5. He was just on Sirius radio and said he wants more than Jahri Evans' $56 million. He also said he hasn't talked to the Saints about a new deal. Sorry, but $60 million for a guard is too much.
  6. FWIW Biggs wrote an article today saying a league executive thinks the Bears cap space could be "as high as $28 million," which would be the most in the division by far. So, no more $30-46m cap space rumors should arise. Still, $28m is a good anount.
  7. Here is the link to the full conversation. Just hit play next to "Jay Cutler."
  8. Highlights: -Wished Waddle a happy birthday. -When asked about Vincent Jackson, he said any WR in FA over 6'2 would be nice. -Said the baby is due "late summer." -Really talked up Brandon Marshall again. -Claimed "the word on the street" is that Emery will add playmakers. -Loves the Bates hire and loves Tice as well (praised Lovie for their hires/promotions). -Called the Times and Trib "tabloids" which was funny. -Said he's only golfed one time this offseason. -Claimed he's been working out in Nashville and that he'll be throwing soon.
  9. Jackson and Bowe, if they hit the market, will get somewhere between $9.5-12 (yes, 12). Guys like Stevie Johnson and Colston would cost anywhere from $7-10. (FWIW, PFT released an article today saying that Johnson and the Bills are very far apart) I could definitely see a desperate team, like Jacksonville or Cleveland, offering up $12 for either guy, but especially Colston. If Cleveland drafts Griffin, they will NEED to surround him with talent. If they take him at 4, they can land Floyd/Sanu/Wright at 23, and then another playmaker in round 2, like a TE or RB, + a FA WR, and their offense would instantly be very good. Griffin-Hillis (if they re-sign him)/Wright/Colston/Fleener is very scary. (sorry, I follow Cleveland closely. My brother in law is a huge Browns fan.) Another example is NE. If they sign a guy like Stevie Johnson, they're offense goes from really good to great. Point is, the Bears have to be prepared to spend that type of money, because teams out there feel, and should feel, like they're one more playmaker from winning a championship or contending, which in a city like Cleveland, would be huge for that PO'd fan base, or Jacksonville, where that would generate much needed ticket revenue. Would I pay $11+ for Colston or Johnson, no. But I would be ready to on Bowe or Jackson, no doubt. If you sign a guy like the latter two, you can go BPA at 19, and who knows, that might be Mike Adams, who I think can be the LT for the next 10 years.
  10. Branch is probably a 3-4 OLB, not a 4-3 DE. I'm not super high on Fleener, either, especially in round 2. I love Jordan White. "He's not fast enough" my ass. What did Larry Fitzgerald run at the combine? White has hands of glue. Sanzenbacher sucks and White would instantly take his spot. Agree on Bears FA's, except Meriweather. He plays like a moron and sucks anyway. I would love Orton but I could see a team who misses out on Luck, Griffin and Manning, like Seattle, to sign him as their starter. Also, Urlacher is in his last year of his deal, so look for an extension there, too. I wouldn't mind Finnegan, but he's older and I think he goes to St Louis with Jeff Fisher.
  11. I was reading Soxtalk's NFL thread and apparently Peter King is reporting that Mario Manningham is going to ask for $7m+ annually. So yeah, cross him off of the Bears list. Right?
  12. Carr would be an unbelievable acquisition and would fill a huge need at CB. This doesn't seem like a Lovie-type move, though. Lovie believes in great DE's and solid CB's. He believes those DL make the CB's better because of rushed/tipped throws. He's 25 or 26 and he's an absolute stud.
  13. IIRC, the last time they said they had money to spend, they spent $120m on Peppers, Manumaleuna, and Taylor. They had money to spend last year if you go by cap space, but nobody in the organization came out and said it will be spent.
  14. Have you ever seen Robert Meachem play? He would not be the #1. If anything, he'd be the #4 with those guys you have, because Cutler would throw to Bennett, Floyd, and Moss/TO more. Meachem is a solid WR but if he was only "solid" in the Saints' offense, it makes me wonder if he'd even be average in this offense. Now, Bennett, Jackson/Johnson, and Kendall Wright? That would be f***ing outstanding.
  15. And why is it that you don't think the Bears can pay any of these guys?
  16. I didn't mean a starting T, although Jared Gaither, Marcus McNeil (when he's cut), and Demetrius Bell are all starting quality T's. I meant a solid backup to the T's now, like what Omiyale was, assuming they cut him. The first guy who comes to mind is Anthony Collins. He played OK for Cincy when he was asked to play and is only 26.
  17. Nobody knows at this point. It'll be anywhere between 23-35m. After guys are cut and the cap space from last year is brought over, it'll increase. And oh, I know the woman who works in the Pro Shop. Don't give me too much credit. Except I posted a PFT link about a week after confirming it. Yes, it was with Angelo but the guys with the money are still employed, so nothing was going to change.
  18. I said this awhile ago. Old news. They should have about $30m in cap room to get in GB's league.
  19. Not a fan of Colston. IIRC, he's injury prone as well, and he may just be a product of the Saints' system. But, if they signed a guy like him and drafted Wright, I'd be pretty content, I suppose. I'd rather it be Jackson though.
  20. Really? So getting a solid T, a good WR, keeping the TE and RB, and signing a middle tier WR in FA is impossible, while drafting a CB, DE, DT, S, and LB is equally as difficult?
  21. It's looking more and more like Jackson will hit the market and Bowe will be tagged.
  22. What DT's do you look at and get excited about? Melton and who?
  23. Lucky- Agree whole heartedly. In my last mock, I had them taking Dre Kirkpatrick. CB needs to get better and younger just as the whole D does, which is why I want the whole draft to be D while the signings in FA should be O (unless it's Mario Williams or Cliff Avril).

Anyone need a quick smile and chuckle? http://www.talkbears.com/forums/index.php?...4293&st=100 I still get goosebumps. Going back to page 160-170, I can't believe some of those putrid mock drafts we all made too. Anyway, it's time FINALLY to surround him with some talent. Do it, Emery.
