  1. Hawthorne is a good player but he'll be a bit costly. This offseason is going to be pretty interesting.
  2. No, I'm probably a better DT than he is. I'm saying DT is a huge need for this team and they should be desperate. There's desperate (which is what the Bears should be) for a DT and then there's completely idiotic (which is what any team would be to sign Haynesworth).
  3. And this is exactly why I don't want him around. He would've been a good addition "countless" offseasons ago, but right now, he wouldn't be, and neither would TO. If you really think either of these two guys who get 1200 yards and 10 touchdowns next year with the Bears, you're nuts. This is arguably the best WR FA class in a long, long time, and even if some of the good ones like DeSean Jackson and Dwayne Bowe get franchised, that still leaves guys like Mike Wallace (RFA), Stevie Johnson, and Vincent Jackson, etc. If the Bears settle on Moss or TO + Michael Floyd, this was a FAILURE of an offseason, because they didn't get a veteran WR in their prime, or a franchise LT with the 19th pick. This offseason should be about the offense in FA (unless they feel strongly about M.Williams or Avril) and the defense in the draft (unless a LT falls to them at 19 [Martin, Reiff, Adams] or if they sign Williams or Avril in FA), even though most of you will disagree with me on the defense part. As someone else said, I'd be willing to wager that Bennett has a better statistical season than TO or Moss in 2012. There's a reason every other NFL team didn't want either of those guys this year, and don't say it's because TO wasn't 100% and Moss "retired." If a team wanted him, he would've played in 2011. And please, those teams quit on Moss? If he was really that good in Tennessee or Minnesota, I think they would've found him a way to get him the ball, especially with offenses that were pass-challenged.
  4. They should be desperate for it. Who's a GOOD defensive tackle on this team besides Henry Melton? Adams sucks, Toeaina is average, and Paea is average (at this point).
  5. Dude, ease up. I believe he's referring to Kellen Davis when he says "Davis." If the Bears used $16 million on Fred Davis and Finley, I'd jump off of something 20 stories high.
  6. I'd rather not. The Bears need guys on the right side of 30, not guys who quit on their last team. He'd come here and be the #4 given that they organization drafts a WR and signs another. He wasn't happy being the 4th option in Tennessee and he won't be here. I'd rather not take the chance of him screwing this team. Every offseason, we have the Moss/TO discussion. Pass.
  7. Martellus Bennett is a stiff, but I love the idea of Jackson and Avril/Williams. I heard this "carrying last year's cap room over" on NFL Live today. Seems intriguing. FWIW, my source told me today that the organization loves Kellen Davis. They truly believe he can he a very good TE. So, look for him to get a 2 or 3 year extension and scratch off any Finley ideas.
  8. I agree that weed arrests are quite useless. There have been studies that show keeping weed illegal will cause more crime than if it was legal. However, it's still a law and he can't afford run-ins with the law being a fringe 53 man roster finalist.
  9. Tulloch will be a $5m ILB for someone next year, not a $6m OLB for the Bears. Not you, no.
  10. I still can't tell if you're being a smartass or not with comments like that, but the fact of the matter is the kid went from a guaranteed deal (being drafted in round 1) to maybe having to be a TE in the league.
  11. Thing is, he was always about 230. Now, he's 250 and running a 4.88. That is absolutely horrid and shows he might not be taking this whole NFL thing seriously.
  12. According to Joe Everett from rookiedraft.com, Alshon Jeffery is working out in Indianapolis. He weighed in at 250 pounds and he ran a 4.88 40. YUCK.
  13. Maybe for the Bears Royal would be considered a second tier WR, but in my eyes, he's a third tier WR. To say the Bears would be fine with he, a 1st round pick, and a guy like Garcon is nuts.
  14. Interesting. The Giants were 100-to-1 in week 13 this year.
  15. Today he was busted for weed.
  16. I agree on Finley, but I don't know about that much for one guy. I just don't want another project. If they're going to replace Webb, do it through FA. I wouldn't be opposed to a T or G in rounds 3 or 4, but I wouldn't count on them to start. With San Diego cutting McNeil soon, he wouldn't be a bad option, but with his release means San Diego will likely go OT in round 1. If they signed Finley and Bowe, that'd be great and all, but that would be about $19 million between the two and would only leave room for a franchise tag of Forte, and this might mean losing solid pieces like Graham or Bell. Oh, and Hester as a #3? Vomit. Horrible idea. Roy Williams is a better #3 option than Hester. Oops. I meant Royal.
  17. So instead of getting a solid #4 WR who was a good #2 with Cutler, a LT who has proved himself, and an OLB who has shown how good he is in a 4-3, you'd rather just get one TE who struggled with drops last year? On that note then, you want Webb or a rookie at LT, Roach or a rookie at OLB, and a 4-6 round rookie WR or Hester or Sanzenbacher as the #4 WR, correct?
  18. Woah, my fault. I definitely meant to say $35 million, not 25.
  19. Yeah, and Knox wanted $7 million/year. That really means nothing. If a team gives Johnson that much, then he can go to that team. $9-10 million annually is way too much for him. I'd cut Spaeth because I thought he was absolutely horrible this past year.
  20. March: Franchise Forte --Key offensive piece for the Bears; expect a longer term deal as TC approaches. Sign Demetrius Bell- 4 years, $18 million. --Bell only gave up 1 sack in 6 starts at LT last year, but he has had some knee issues. Still, he's 48x better than Webb. Sign Stevie Johnson- 5 years, $25 million. --Not that I love this, but I see the Bears going this route. He'll be cheaper than Bowe/Jackson/D.Jackson, and he and Bennett have the same agent. Sign Eddie Royal- 2 years, $4 million. --Knox's career is likely over, at least in Chicago, and Royal is a similar player. Of course, Royal is slower but he has better hands and he knows Cutler. Sign Manny Lawson- 3 years, $12 million. --Lawson had a good year with the Bengals, and his strength is stopping the run. Plus, he's only 28. Extend Graham, McCown, Bell, Idonije, Steltz, Okoye, and Davis. --Graham is a key ST piece, McCown proved to be an OK backup, Bell is solid, Idonije is purely depth, Steltz is a good ST player, Okoye was decent last year, and Davis has potential. Cut Adams, Spaeth, Barber, Wootton, and Omiyale. --Adams sucks, Spaeth is useless, Barber isn't playing with 52 cards, Wootton stinks, and Omiyale is the worst player in football. Doing this will also free up approximately $12 million this year, if my math is right. Draft: 1. Dre Kirkpatrick, CB, Alabama --There's a good chance he isn't around at 19. Hell, he might even go to the Jaguars, but Kiper has him as his 23rd prospect, and the Bears need CB help. 2. Juron Criner, WR, Arizona --Criner had a great season and a great SB week. He's a big guy, and a corps of Johnson, Bennett, Criner, Garcon, and Hester is pretty damn good. 3. Cam Johnson, DE, Virginia --Johnson isn't a great pass rusher, but he's good enough and he's also good against the run. He reminds me of Alex Brown. 3. Brandon Taylor, S, LSU --I was very impressed with Taylor throughout the year, and I'm surprised most view him as a 3-5 round prospect. Regardless, he can play ST, or even start at SS if Wright continues to play like an out of control moron. 4. Audie Cole, LB, North Carolina State --Cole is a pretty good player with starting potential in the NFL. He can play MLB or OLB, and this will be a depth move. 5. Ben Jones, C, Georgia --Spencer won't be around past this year, and Garza's playing out of position and he's getting up there in age. Jones can play in the NFL some day. 6. BJ Coleman, QB, Tennessee Chattanooga --It doesn't seem like the Bears believe in Enderle. Coleman can take his spot as a developmental QB behind Cutler and McCown. 7. Chris Rainey, KR/PR/WR/RB, Florida --At this point, they have nothing to lose. Rainey can absolutely fly and can make some plays, even if it's just on KR, where Hester has been struggling. Last one until FA is over.
  21. Routt is an average CB who got penalized 17 times last year. Let's not act like he's the second coming. Yes, he's a better corner than Jennings. Also, there would be no point in cutting Bowman AND Jennings for Routt, considering then you fill 2 CB holes. This is also impossible because Jennings and Bowman are UFA's in a month.
  22. Not a bad mock, but if they sign Bowe or Jackson, there's no need to use a 2nd and 4th on WR's. I'd go more 3rd and 4th or 4th and 5th, unless someone falls.
  23. What about the ones I listed where some have the Bears selecting Konz, Sanu, and Jeffery? Also, I saw one on NFL.com that has the Bears taking Floyd, as well.
