  1. If Reiff, Martin, or Adams are there at 19 (guys that are already MUCH better than Webb) and the Bears don't pick them, I'm going to very upset, to put it lightly.
  2. Not a bad option, IMO. However, I'd rather sign Bowe or Jackson, or trade for Marshall before I signed Johnson. Supposedly, he wants anywhere from $7-8m, which is a lot for a guy like him. I don't think he's playing with a full deck, and he is very inconsistent. (yes, I know Marshall is psycho and has inconsistent hands as well, but he has proved to be dominant with Cutler)
  3. If I was the Bears, my (realistic) big board would be: 1) Reily Reiff, OT, Iowa 2) Jonathan Martin, OT, Stanford 3) Mike Adams, OT, Ohio State 4) Michael Floyd, WR, Notre Dame 5) Dre Kirkpatrick, CB, Alabama 6) Kendall Wright, WR, Baylor 7) Peter Konz, C, Wisconsin 8) Whitney Mercilus, DE, Illinois
  4. FWIW, I believe Jeremy Bates will get that QB coach job. Cutler likes him a lot and this offseason will be all about Cutler. As for the OL coach- someone already touched on it in here. That is a less important job to fill because Tice will be in charge of coaching up the OL.
  5. I would guess the Bears current group of scouts is. I don't think Ruskell has any say in any of this right now.
  6. McNutt would be great. He weighed in at 6'2, 216 and apparently has had a great Senior Bowl. ADMINS- maybe we should change this to a draft nugget thread?
  7. walterfootball.com 6'2, 210, Ohio State, in 2010 with a real QB he had 53 catches for 848 yards
  8. If he was the head of scouting, he likely gave those players drafted very high praise. I don't know why that's confusing.
  9. I think he meant Denver's Thomas, not NY's.
  10. You do know Angelo is no longer with the team, right?
  11. #1- I never said Ruskell gets a pass. Pass for what? I said if they sign Emery and Ruskell stays, let's not act like it's a god awful move that will cripple the franchise for the rest of eternity. #2- Emery was a scout who likely gave these players high praise which resulted in the Falcons and Chiefs drafting him. Are you sure he doesn't get any credit?
  12. If they made an effort to draft Richardson, Wright, and then another skill player with their top 3 picks, McCoy wouldn't be so bad. However, good call on Flynn, but now I see Miami making a push for him.
  13. At 19, you have to take the best player available, offensive or defensive. Example: if Dre Kirkpatrick falls to the Bears because of his marijuana arrest, they have to take him, because he's a cover corner and a hard hitter, and Tillman is old and Jennings is a FA. If Riley Reiff falls to them and they think he can be an NFL LT, take him, because Webb blows. If Devon Still falls to them, take him, because he is a freak on the DL and can play DT or DE. I'd like to think they'll do enough in FA where drafting a WR won't be necessary (signing Jackson OR Bowe, and then Manningham OR Meachem). This way, they can go OG, CB, DT, LB, and DE (in no particular order) with their first 5 picks. If not, I agree with B4E34. They could also go all in on Nicks, and then sign Manningham and draft Floyd. They have a lot of cap and I hope they can sign a few good, young players so the draft isn't a "must hit on their first 4 picks" type of draft.
  14. First it was "bring in a potentially great, young GM." Then it was "bring in a guy who has great history of finding young players." Now they do that, and it's "well, that's great and all, but he'll keep Ruskell." Who gives a damn? He'll be making personnel decisions, not Ruskell. With a history of guys like Ryan, Hall, Moeaki, Bowe, McCluster, White, Berry, etc, I'm not sure how anyone can HATE this move if he is the guy.
  15. Kalil is a better pro prospect than Blackmon, and more worth trading up for. A guy who can protect your QB CONSISTENTLY for 10 years is a better prospect than a guy who can catch passes from his QB. How's that for a settlement?
  16. That might be, but IIRC, they'll still be paying Angelo through 2013. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this would mean in 2013, they'd be paying a new GM, Angelo, Ruskell, Lovie, and a new coach. I don't see that happening.
  17. Yesterday on Sportscenter, Clayton said the Colts are likely to tag Mathis and let Wayne walk, FWIW. Avril would be outstanding, for all of the reasons you listed. Plus, I've heard Detroit is going to be short on cap space, so if they want Avril, this might mean cutting Vanden Bosch. But, that was in a 3-4 D.
  18. I don't have any inside info on this, but I'd be willing to bet (not much, though) that the Bears will sign Ruskell on a 1 year deal. This way, if they don't make the playoffs, the GM hired NEXT year will be able to hire his own HC because Lovie will also be gone.
  19. Watch the Browns take Griffin III and then Wright, his teammate with the 23rd pick. If I were Cleveland, I'd take Richardson at 4, best offensive player available at 23, and then in round 2. It's easy to say Colt McCoy sucks, but he has NOTHING to work with. BTW, I would love Floyd.
  20. Yes, because technically, the Bears can't deny him from doing so. Oh boy. What's plan B?
  21. Can't believe this isn't getting more posts in it. This is a HUGE deal. Great to have him back. He's worth every penny.
