  1. I totally forgot about Nicks getting tagged, good point. However, I would pass on Colston. He's strictly a slot WR right now and he's only played a full season in 2 of his 6 seasons. Also, his numbers are better than what they'd be here since he's in NO. (yes, I know I have the Bears signing Meachem, but he'd also be about $5m/year cheaper than Colston so that'd be more worth the risk IMO)
  2. I understand your POV, but why is this so hard to understand from my point of view? If Barber holds onto the ball, the Bears horrible act of going into a prevent D only costs them 7 points for 60 minutes. If you go on the road and give up 7 points in 60 minutes, you should win. If you're a 7 year NFL veteran, you should know if you stay in bounds, you win a football game in this case. Maybe nobody told him to. In that case, Hanie is an even bigger moron than I thought. Nobody should have to help the man, though. End of discussion.
  3. I forgot Hurd on my WR list, but it looks like his time as a Bear is over.
  4. IF BARBER STAYS IN BOUNDS THEY GIVE UP 7 POINTS, NOT 10. If you give up (what should've been) 7 points on the road, you should win.
  5. 1000 pounds? Supposedly, he was receiving and distributing 1000 pounds PER WEEK.
  6. This wasn't Matt Ryan, this was Tim Tebow. The Broncos were going to start at the 20, not the 40 or whatever Atlanta started at. Yes. If Barber stayed in bounds, was there a strong possibility that being in a prevent D and giving up 7 points in 60 minutes wouldn't have mattered? Screwed the pooch? By what, giving up 7 points? Once again, it's OK to disagree on something. You guys aren't going to change my mind. They gave up, what should've been 7 points all game. At some point, the blame goes on the players. A 7 year veteran RB has to know to stay in bounds.
  7. -Said he doesn't want anything specific for Christmas. -Said if he gets something dumb for Christmas, he'll smile and say he loves it. -Said Cavallari knows better than to not get him anything for Christmas. (but here are more important ones) -Said Tebow has a lot to work on but works on them all day. -Said there's a slim chance he can play vs GB if the Bears win vs Seattle. -Said Hanie is doing better but Martz needs to continue to help him. -Said Barber did a lot of good in that game and nobody should solely blame him. -Said the D has been outstanding. Little recap for everyone.
  8. Trade Briggs to the Giants for Osi Umenyiora. Trade Knox for a 5th. Extend Idonije, Urlacher, Graham, and Okoye. Cut Omiyale, Wootton, and Spaeth. Sign Robert Meachem, John Carlson (with a new OC, the Bears need an actual TE), and Kyle Orton. Franchise Forte. 1) Reily Reiff, LT, Iowa ---All of you know me as the guy who never wants OT's this high. However, there's a good chance the Bears will be in position to draft a future LT in round 1 rather than a guy later in round 1 who might be a RT. Reiff could actually play LT in the NFL. 2) Marvin McNutt, WR, Iowa ---I didn't do this on purpose with 2 Iowa guys, but I love McNutt. He's a very good player. I posted a link to some of his highlights, and he can really play. He reminds me of Roy Williams...except with talent...and a clue. Yes, it might seem the Bears should stop with Meachem, but in my offseason, the Bears will be letting Williams walk and moving Hester primarily to ST and a few trick plays. Also, don't forget I have Knox being dealt. 3) Sean Spence, OLB, Miami ---With Briggs gone (in my scenario), the Bears will need a replacement for him. In 3rd round, Spence is great value. 3) Kendall Reyes, DT, Connecticut ---In a year where nobody gives a s*** about Big East football, Reyes has been a bright spot for the Huskies. He's very physical and can even play some DE. 4) Lucas Nix, OG, Pittsburgh ---Nix suffered an injury earlier in the year and that may have set him back. Regardless, getting a player with the talent Nix has in round 4 would be nice. 5) TY Hilton, WR, Florida International ---Hilton reminds me of Victor Cruz. Small guy but makes big plays. Also, in my scenario, Knox is gone, so this is his replacement on ST and as a speedy WR here and there. 5) Jerrell Gavins, CB, Boise State ---As you can see, I don't have the Bears bringing back Corey Graham. It's not that I hate him or anything, but he can play CB somewhere else so the Bears won't be able to match an offer. Gavins could eventually fill in for him as a good ST player. 6) Chris Galippo, LB, Southern California ---He could play ST, but he'll never start as a LB. As a USC fan, I've seen him play and he's way too slow for that. 7) Harrison Smith, S, Notre Dame ---What's a Bears draft without a safety? QB: Cutler, Orton, Enderle RB: Forte, Barber, Bell FB: Clutts TE: Carlson and Davis WR: Bennett, Meachem, McNutt, Hilton, Sanzenbacher, Hester OL: Reiff, Williams, Garza, Louis, Carimi (subs: Nix, Webb, Spencer) DE: Umenyiora, Peppers, Idonije DT: Toeaina, Paea, Melton, Reyes, Okoye LB: Urlacher, Spence, Roach, DeCicco, Galippo CB: Moore, Tillman, Gavins, Jennings S: Conte, Steltz, Wright, Smith, Venable (I'm sure I'm forgetting some guys, but you get the idea)
  9. Martz wasn't a bad OC this year. Yes, he had his dumbass games like vs GB and NO, but Cutler really came on at the end of this year and week 4 and on this year. With Todd Graham going to ASU, I really hope this means Martz is back next year.
  10. Trust him to kill the clock? It's not like you're trusting him with your daughter. He's a 7 year veteran. It shouldn't take trust; the dumbass has to know to stay in bounds. If he stays in bounds, the Broncos get the ball back with 16 seconds left and no timeouts. At that point, there is essentially NO WAY the Broncos can win. Like I've said, the prevent D was a horrible idea, but if Barber stays in bounds, the Bears win 10-7.
  11. If Coples is there, the Bears HAVE to take him.
  12. The statement that "Carimi was drafted to be a LT" is 100% inaccurate. Again, I agree with Balta. The only OL that should/could be benched is Webb. Even Webb though hasn't been awful this year. Look at Sunday. It was Louis at RT getting burnt, not Webb.
  13. What offensive players was he supposed to extend? He extended Bennett, Hester, Cutler, and Garza, and will either extend or tag Forte. Were they supposed to extend someone else that I missed? Let me guess...Kreutz? The guy sucks.
  14. What you guys fail to realize is that they draft DE and DT a lot because their current ones SUCK. Idonije is decent, Peppers is good, Paea hasn't done much, Melton is decent, Toeaina is medicore, and Adams sucks. I can't really fault a front office for attempting to improve a DL that isn't very good. I agree with Balta. It's hard to draft OL with the current regime. Who do you want them to leave out? Do YOU honestly think LOVIE will give up on Louis as a player? Or Webb as an OT? Or Spencer or Garza? If they bring in a solid veteran OL this offseason plus using 2 picks on OL, I'd be fine with that, but using a 1st and one 3rd on a OT and OG would be useless because they'll never play. Would Lovie put in rookie X for Garza at C? Would he put in rookie Y for Webb? Doubtful. Am I seeing I agree with this? No, but it's the way he does it, so it is what it is.
  15. The QB made nice throws? That one handed catch vs MSU was 2 feet behind him and 3 feet too high on a slant route.
  16. It was great. The people were cool for the most part, the weather was good, and CU's campus was awesome. Thanks for the tips.
  17. Agree on Knox and Hester, Mad. Connor- Agree on Louis, but I don't mind Jennings. He was simply playing the prevent D. Lost in all of this was the poor DL play. Where was Peppers the last 3 Broncos drives? You can't expect CB's to cover WR's for 10 seconds EVERY play.
  18. No reason to cut him. He'll be a UFA after the year. He's playing for a contract...in the CFL.
  19. Shocking I know, but I disagree here. Yes, the prevent D was a stupid idea, but don't forget the Bears got the ball with 2:05 left up 10-7. If Barber stays in bounds, the Broncos get the ball back with 16 seconds left instead of 56. They would've had to go about 40 yards for field goal range in 16 seconds without a timeout. The main guy who wasn't a cool guy was Forte. He told everyone no pictures while every other player had no problem. Peppers wasn't very friendly either.
  20. Being there live, here were my thoughts: -Tebow sucks. He did nothing today. Yes, he threw for 191 yards from the 4th quarter on, but that was because of the defense the Bears were set up in. -Barber was good all game, and then he does s*** you learn not to do in 3rd grade when he went out of bounds. Then, he fumbled in OT when if he would've went down, they'd be attempting a 52 yard FG for the win. -I thought Briggs was great. -Hanie sucks. He's been in the league for 4 years. Make it throw. Quit tucking it away after 2 seconds and either throwing or passing. Step up and make a big boy throw. -Hester does some dumb things. He needs to stay on ST. Even there today though, he called for 2 fair catches when I thought he should've tried to make a play. -Louis has been awful these past 2 weeks. -Why switch to a mostly prevent D? They had ZERO points vs regular defense for 56 minutes. -The Denver fans were nice for the most part. It was about 70-30 percent Broncos fans, but there were TONS of Bears fans. -I stayed at the Bears hotel and all of the players were cool, minus a few guys.
  21. Depressed? I'm the idiot who wasted $450 on that trip to Denver for the game. I agree with Bears4Ever: Tebow did nothing today. If Barber stays in bounds, that's a Bears win.
  22. Where did this talk about the D start? The article is about Hanie...
