  1. Whatever that boring s*** was they ran with Orton in 2005, they need the same boring s*** from here on in 2011.
  2. Oakland- Loss: They're playing better football and their defense is super physical. KC- Win: Tyler Palko may be the worst QB I've ever seen. Denver- Win: Tebow this. If the Bears can get a decent sized lead, that game's over. Unfortunately, it won't be easy. Seattle- Loss: Say what you want, but Seattle has some quality wins and won in Chicago last year. Their run D, IIRC, has been pretty good this year. Green Bay- Loss: Need I say more? Minnesota- Win: The Vikings stink. 3-3 (if it's Hanie until the end)
  3. Jake Laptad, who was with the Bears in the preseason, has been rumored to be brought back.
  4. Cutler might be back for the season or he might not. If they're 9-6 going into that Vikings game, I hope he's able to go. If they're 10-5 going into that game and they have a WC spot wrapped up, play him some to get some rust off. I'd hate to see go to New York, Dallas, or New Orleans in round 1 without a pass thrown in 7 weeks.
  5. Despite the horrible Cutler news, the recent news that Mannelly has a torn ACL isn't much better. per everyone
  6. A few things: 1. It looks like it happened on the INT. If you watch the replay, his hand hits the ground really hard in a weird position. In hindsight, Knox could've really helped the Bears and I don't mean by making a catch. If he doesn't slip, this whole situation is nothing but a nightmare. 2. Yes, he played after and completed 2 passes. However, those 2 passes were screens. 3. Nobody knows what's what here. Roethlisberger's thumb hit helmet-first vs Cincinnati. Cutler's fell awkwardly and so there's probably severe ligament damage. 4. Bears4Ever: believe it. It's broken and you won't see him take another snap until the 1st round of the playoffs if Hanie can manage them into that spot. 5. Somehow, Hester has to play even better. Somehow, Tillman has to elevate his game even more. Somehow, Peppers has to go from a machine to an unstoppable force. Somehow, the OL has to be prepared to block 8 and 9 man fronts. 5. This really, really sucks. They went from 1-2, to 2-3, to 7-3, and now they'll be lucky if they finish 10-6. Unbelievable. Also, I don't want anyone to feel sorry for me, but this is 2 straight years I've seen the Bears play a road game, and both times, they've been without Cutler.
  7. The Chargers will get after Cutler? I doubt it. Their DL is pretty bad.
  8. Who should: Tillman, Urlacher, Peppers, Forte, Mannelly, and Briggs. Who will: Urlacher, Forte, Peppers, and Briggs. Ultimately, other teams' fans won't see the picks there for Tillman so they won't vote him in, and for some reason, Mannelly has never made a Pro Bowl. Thoughts?
  9. Drops are a huge issue. I think I read a tweet that the Bears, prior to the 2nd Lions game, had 19 drops among WR's. If they would've limited that to 10, Cutler's completion percentage would've been 62 rather than 57. Also, who knows, maybe that leads to more sustained drives, more scores, and another win.
  10. You're still having trouble, aren't you? The offense can't be given a grade on this game. Neither can Martz, since he's in charge of it. All I'm saying is I'd like to see more rollouts. Wouldn't a 34-6 lead be a nice time to continue to practice that? Yeah, I said people disagree and it's a message board. Did you miss that? Point is, we're all adults (probably) so calling people out because you think you're the best is unnecessary. And yes, I feel I have a right to call you a smartass. You also have a right to say "shit." However, nobody here appreciates it when you are ALWAYS disagreeing with EVERYONE. For example, you and Bears4Ever went at it about OL or WR in the 2012 draft. You kept going after him. We get it, you think the Bears need OL. It only says it in your sig. You don't need to keep reminding us and you're arrogance isn't going to get anyone to change their minds. Did I say the Bears OL had a good game? IIRC, I said "rough patches." Did you not comprehend that either? You just responded to it, though. Thanks.
  11. How is this being inconsistent? Martz never ran any rollouts. That isn't being vanilla, that's being f***ing stupid. That should be part of the everyday gameplan, seeing how well Cutler plays when he's rolled out. I'm not BLAMING the offense or BLAMING Martz. I said it's impossible to judge the offense off a game where they were handed a lead. Where did I say they sucked? Where did I say they were average? Did I say they were good or great? Here are the answers: nowhere, nowhere, and no. Also, Martz needs to run rollouts, up 30, down 30, or tied. If you have Rodgers, don't you roll him out and throw it down the field as much as you can? Yes. Learn how to read and comprehend sentences. Nobody here appreciates you constantly being a smartass and your know-it-all attitude. Just because the majority of Bears fans don't love Martz like you do and some Bears fans don't think OL is a huge need because of how well they're playing right now and how Lovie wouldn't find a spot for a rookie doesn't make us wrong and you right. You "consistently" underline, bold, and italicize your words in an attempt to be neat and tough. Nobody cares. Everyone is welcome to share their opinion. This is a forum. But respect everyone's opinions. You don't need to say "exact shit" when you're trying to prove a point. The Bears need a scout and a draft helper. Send in an application.
  12. (short and sweet this time) 1. In terms of the offense, there isn't much to say. It's hard to judge because they were pretty much handed a 34-6 lead. 2. The OL, though, had some rough patches. There were too many times in the 3rd quarter where Cutler had to run and improvise. 3. Hey Martz, where were the rollouts this week? 4. The defense was phenomenal. There isn't much more to say. Peppers, Jennings, and Tillman were great. 5. The Lions truly are a dirty team. If you combine all of the fines from this game for Detroit, it'll probably come out to $110k (Suh, Fairley, maybe Stafford). 6. San Diego will be a tough game, but if the secondary plays like this again, no game will be tough.
  13. Yeah, Bradshaw had a GREAT defense his WHOLE career, and I believe Namath had more INT than TD.
  14. They replay the 4 best games of the week every week on NFL Network. However, this game won't be a top 4 game. You'll probably get Seahawks/Ravens, Cardinals/Eagles, Saints/Falcons, and another one.
  15. Is this really the type of game where we should be talking about run/pass ratio? In the 2nd quarter, it was 20-6. However, it's not the overall ratio of run/pass that bothers me for Martz. It's dips*** play calls. Obviously, they HAVE to pass sometimes even when they have a lead. But here's an example: early in the game, they had 3rd and 1. Here was my initial problem- where the hell is Barber? He shouldn't be on this team if he's not being used on 3rd and 1. #2- Martz calls some gadget toss play for a loss of 5. It's 3rd and f***ing 1. Run it up the middle. Also, he ran a play where Forte was expected to throw it. This was right after Cutler completed 2 nice, crisp passes. I understand that if Forte tucks it and runs, he gains 8-10 yards, but why take the ball out of Cutler's hand there? It's s*** like that.
  16. Wow Connor, I was going to post this exact thread, so yes, I would say he is.
  17. Where would Lovie stick a 1st or 2nd round OG? Replace Spencer, who's been a pleasant surprise? Replace Williams, who despite having surgery has been very good the last 3-4 weeks? The only position the Bears need to seriously look at on the OL is LT, and at 25-30 (like Stinger said), there won't be any great LT's there. Reily Reiff would be a nice pick but he'll be gone somewhere between 11-19.
  18. Isn't Joe Namath in? He sucked and so did Terry Bradshaw. Unfortunately, guys go into the HOF sometimes because they win Super Bowls.
  19. Exactly. This is a reason I wouldn't mind the Bears going DT, DE, or OT in round 1, because McNutt will be there in the 2nd and he might be the best pro out of the bunch, besides Blackmon. I did this from JA and Lovie's point of view combined with their biggest needs IMO. If it was my idea of a perfect draft, I would've also said WR in round 1.
  20. Yeah, it'd be easy to say "it's OK, let him heal, Louis is playing well" but Carimi has a history of this and I hope it doesn't become a re-occuring theme.
  21. 1. Melvin Ingram, DE, South Carolina ---This is a typical Lovie pick. He's a guy who could play some DT as well as DE; he's flying up draft boards. With Idonije being a FA at year's end, Peppers aging, and Wooton being useless, this pick makes sense. It also makes sense for another reason: right now, the Bears are 23rd overall in defense. 2. Marvin McNutt, WR, Iowa ---McNutt is tearing up the Big-10. He's the best receiver in the conference and is 6'4" and 215 pounds. He's a definite playmaker and could fill in Roy Williams' spot when he leaves after the season (hopefully). 3. Nate Potter, OT, Boise State ---If he's here this late, this is a steal. He's one of the few guys in this draft who could play LT at the next level. If Webb continues to play like a turnstile, Potter could be his replacement. Until then, he could play some OG and provide some OL depth. 3 (from CAR). Nico Johnson, OLB, Alabama ---If there's ever a time where Briggs gets traded, it'll be in February or March. He's never been happy with the Bears front office it seems, and now he's finally demanded a trade. While I didn't add in a draft pick for the return of the trade, I think he gets traded. Johnson is very good tackler playing on a great defense where he's usually overlooked by guys like Courtney Upshaw, Mark Barron, and Josh Chapman. 4. DaJohn Harris, DT, USC ---As a USC fan, I know how underrated Harris is. He goes plays without being noticed, but all of a sudden, he'll pop up in the backfield for a big hit. He's a huge guy as well and would be great for the Bears, a team with a glaring hole at DT. 5. Senio Kelemete, G, Washington ---This is a pick to gain more OL depth. Louis is a good RT and solid at OG, Spencer is decent at OG but might be the C in 2 or 3 years, and Williams plays good but then misses a block. Regardless, if one of them has a rough stretch, Kelemete will hopefully be able to slide in with some polish. 6. Duke Ihenacho, S, San Jose State ---What's a Bears draft without picking a safety? Ihenacho is a decent player who's a depth pick here. He's likely a special teams player, but teams have found 6th round gems in the past. Plus, Major Wright can't just assume the spot is his to keep, especially since nobody knows the future for Brandon Meriweather in Chicago. 7. DeQuan Menzie, CB, Alabama ---Menzie is a solid player in a great conference. He might be a good NFL player some day.
  22. Saying TD's for a player is important is like saying wins for a pitcher are. If a pitcher has a 3.5 ERA and is 4-8, is that his fault? Perhaps, but it most likely means his run support is terrible. In this case, you guys have covered it. Barber is the goal line and short yardage back. It seems like Martz always gives Forte a run when it gets to 1st and goal, but that usually results ina 1-4 yard gain. At that point, he takes no more chances and puts in Barber. Forte does enough to get the ball down to where the Bears can score. It would be nice to see him get rewarded with a score here and there, but as long as he keeps putting the Bears in position for TD's, I'll take that instead.
  23. Paea may suck now but his future is the brighest of anyone else on the Bears interior DL, IMO, even brighter than Melton's. Toeaina and Adams suck, Okoye is decent and hopefully is re-upped, and Melton could be a good player one day. He's pretty inconsistent now though. I've never heard this..
  24. Agree. Hester dropped one pass on the 2nd drive. He was getting hit, but nonetheless, it went right through his hands. He also dropped what would've been a 55-60 yard gain, as did Williams. Sanzenbacher also dropped (if you call it that because I call it a total whif) one that would've been good for 7 or 8 yards, and probably prevents the 1st Forte fumble. Add all that up, and Cutler probably finishes 22-34 with about 340 yards and maybe another TD.
