  1. Cutler isn't comfortable throwing to spots where his WR's should be, because well, the WR's suck and I don't think any QB would trust this group. The OL is bad, but they're athletic. Typically, athletic o-linemen are better run blockers than pass blockers because they can get out into space quicker and pull with more ease. MadLith hit the nail on the head- Cutler loves throwing on the run. Last year, although it wasn't shown a lot, he was awesome at it as well. In his Pro Bowl year, he made his money throwing on bootlegs. The audibling thing is ridiculous but it's a Martz thing. Warner wasn't allowed to do it either. Here's Matt Bowen's opinion. on why it's not working with Cutler and Martz. (click the one that says "CTL panel discusses..." It should be the 5th one)

Meriweather will be fine. Wright is a just a total dope whether he's playing SS or FS. As weeks ago by, Meriweather will turn out to be a nice pick-up, especially when Harris comes back. We all saw that he can really hit.
  3. Not that they're going to match up against each other, but that may be Ponder's first start if McNabb keeps playing like a**.
  4. Jensen at the Times says otherwise. I hope the Trib is right. With the pick up of Meriweather, drafting of Conte, and the love for Major Wright, I think you may be correct.
  5. I'm not going to jump on Cutler until they help him out. Signing UDFA WR's and signing guys 4 years past their primes to help him at WR and bulls*** OL isn't going to help him succeed. Patriots, Packers, Colts, Chargers, etc all draft and sign to help their QB's. If they're not going to do what's necessary for Cutler, then trade/cut him and put Hanie in. The pick sucked, but my god, why is Kyle Adams out for a pass? They had 2 UDFA's from the Big 10 out on the field today. Disgusting for a team that wants to win a ring. As for the D, it has to get better but it starts with the front 4. Peppers is getting double teamed every play because Idonije, Adams, Toeaina, and Reed are garbage thus far. When Harris gets back, it'll help a bit. Great game by Hester. I'm his biggest critic but he was awesome. It's an honor seeing him play for my favorite team. Onto Detroit, and IMO, this is a winnable game. Digging themselves 17+ point holes against good teams isn't going to fly, but it might against an iffy DAL team and a brutal MIN team.
  6. Trust me, I'm not a Theismann fan either, but nothing he is saying here is wrong.
  7. I find it hard to disagree here. Put your hatred for Theismann aside. Roy Williams sucks.
  8. If he's not back for Detroit, Stafford is going to throw for a million yards. BTW, why isn't everyone calling him a p****?
  9. Bears 27-13 Forte 21 carries, 113 yards, 2 TD's Fixed
  10. Re-read my post. I said trade Briggs because he wants a trade. There's no need in having him around anymore if he's going to b**** about $6 million per year considering he's getting up there in age. Keep in mind I said "rebuilding," so if a team is rebuilding, like they are in my scenario, there's no point in keeping a guy who wants more money and is older. I also said to keep Peppers and Urlacher; Urlacher until his contract his up, and Peppers for a few more years. I then said to trade Tillman. He's older, he's being paid a lot, and he may not be able to transition to a brand new D in a new regime. Never did I say cut and trade them all come March. And yes, draft an OG somewhere in there, as in the 2nd or 3rd round. You are forgetting that you and I see eye to eye on the OL issues. The problem is, they selected an OT this year in round 1. This year's draft is very deep in OG's. If they can get one in round 2 or 3, that works for me.

Since week 1 of the 2008 season, he doesn't done much as a KR/PR with the exception of the 3 or 4 TD's he had last year. Paying him as much as they are with that production doesn't make me "glad."
  12. Harris was supposedly a full-go in practice last Friday and was probable. Therefore, whatever news the Bears release this week, just wait until Sunday. FWIW, I don't think Major Wright is good at all, and if he's back, it doesn't strengthen the D at all.
  13. What "studs" have the Patriots drafted? They have a RB by committee annually, their WR's aren't spectular but are made up for by their TE's, and pass rush isn't anything to write home about. This year, they took Shane Vereen in round 2 and he hasn't done anything, same with Stephen Paea. Last year, they took Jermaine Cunningham and Brandon Spikes in round 2. How's that going for them? Let's not confuse "deeper level of hits" and "studs" with the fact that they lucked out one year and got Tom Brady. Without him, the Patriots are irrelevant and it wouldn't matter if they hit on every pick if they didn't have Brady. Hell, they cut Meriweather prior to the season and the Bears picked him up. He was a former 1st round pick for them. All I'm saying is yes, the Bears need a few drafts like Green Bay, where they got Raji and Matthews. But a starting point are guys like Melton (stud in the making?), Tillman (who knows if he would've been a stud CB without the Tampa 2), Briggs (stud), Kreutz (stud), Carimi (maybe in the future?), Hester (ST stud), and Chris Harris (not a stud but ended up being a good player). Now they just need to draft guys who are impact players and playmakers. And, they traded 3 of those picks for Cutler who was a stud but they have done nothing to surround him with talent via FA. 61, really? That means every other team passed on Jackson too. Let's not make it out to be like Angelo took some scrub WR and then the next pick was Jackson or anything. 20 other teams after that Bradley pick also passed on Jackson.

No, but if they would've gotten 2 second round picks, we can't be certain JA would've f***ed them up. Let's not forget to give him props when he deserves them. Like I said in another thread, he's made dumb picks and good picks. Every GM has.
  15. 1) If the Bears are rebuilding, there's no sense in keeping Tillman around when his time for a new deal is up. He'll be older and he'll probably want a raise from the $5m or $6m that he's making throughout his current deal. Plus, a new regime means a new D, and chances are he'll want to win by that time. 2) I didn't exactly mean Carroll. As a USC fan, I know he'll eventually win in the NFL. It's a shame that Bears fan who hate Lovie, like you do, would make fun of another coach for showing energy would criticize Carroll. Isn't "Lovie doesn't even show he cares" a complaint from Bears fans? What I meant was, Seattle gave him the keys to everything. The Bears need a guy like that. 3) I agree. Hold onto Peppers and Urlacher, but I said in a few years they should part ways. Urlacher will also want to win and if they're rebuilding, that won't be able to happen here. Peppers is a damn good player for continuing to pay him as the highest paid DE in a rebuilding mode when he's 34 or 35 would be insane. 4) I don't think Urlacher and Peppers in 2 years would get the Bears much. They'd likely have to cut Peppers, and I think the Bears owe it to Urlacher to keep him around until his contract expires, at least. At that point, if he wants to stay, fine. But I think he'll want to give a championship another go, and that won't be able to happen in Chicago given my scenario.
  16. Awesome seats. I'm still jealous that my brother's work is sending him to London for this game.

They should've traded him in the 2007-2008 offseason, when some douchebag team would've given the Bears a 1st and a 2nd for him. I remember when John Jurkovic from ESPN 1000 said this and everyone was telling him how dumb he was, and then I came to this board agreeing with him, and everyone here proceeded to call me dumb as well. Who's dumb now?
  18. The only one I can think of off the top of my head is Spencer. Was Reed a Seahawk at one point?
  19. If all they want is a 3rd, I say do it. Keep the one they got from Carolina for Olsen (because it "should" end up being the higher pick). Curry has more upside than any LB the Bears will take in the draft. In his rookie year, he was a beast. Maybe he doesn't get along with Carroll.
  20. If the Bears get rid of Phillips, Ruskell, and Angelo, they may as well get rid of the whole damn staff. Trade Briggs and try to get a 3rd or 4th for Tillman. Start rebuilding through the draft, a draft they already have an extra 3rd round pick for. For the new management, get a Pete Carroll type. Not exactly him, but someone who is in charge of everything, like Gruden or Cowher. In the draft, go hard after playmaking CB's, LB's, and WR's with all of those picks. Imagine Justin Blackmon playing for the Bears...Somewhere in there, draft an OG. If the Webb experiment fails, which it surely will, go after a franchise LT in the 2013 draft. In 2 years, trade/cut Peppers to save that money and let Urlacher walk to FA whenever that is. When 2013 comes, either let Cutler walk or extend him, depending on the progress he makes with all of this rebuilding (trust the new regime that they will have brought in some effective OL and WR in that time). How's that for a solution, eh?
  21. When did I say he drafted "studs?"
  22. Let's not kid ourselves. As much as we want to think Marinelli is in charge of the D because his title says so, that's Lovie's D.
  23. Can he play OL? Seriously. There's a good chance that from a week from now, we'll all be saying "f*** the WR position. It doesn't matter if Cutler has no time to throw."
  24. Brees and Rodgers were pretty much upright all game long. If the Bears DL plays even close to how well they did vs Atlanta, the weaknesses in the secondary won't be as glaring.
  25. When the demand of the trade for Cutler came, word out of his "camp" said he would like to be traded to Chicago (his childhood favorite team) or Tennessee (nearby where he went to college). What was JA going to tell him? "We're going to try to surround you with the least possible amount of talent from here on out."
