  1. They are said to like David Thomas, too (a third-round pick last year). With the needs they have in the secondary, taking another first-day te would have been nuts, a first-round te, Millenesque.
  2. Exactly what I've been thinking about. I'd love to see the Bears use both a few times per game.
  3. Btw, the deal with Walker fell apart. http://www.southbendtribune.com/apps/pbcs....CAT=ProSports01 You'll never believe who his agent is... Really, wtf are you waiting for as an udfa? Take a standard offer and get in camp, now.
  4. Supposedly the Bears wanted him back, but only close to the minimum. http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpag...1781&spln=1
  5. I'm not saying it's warranted. But he's already been convicted, whereas Jones is still waiting on a trial. And I think the NFL is really trying to sell its get-tough policy. So, yeah, I think it would be too much, but it might be possible.
  6. Marshall Faulk? Wtf? He's not even remotely close to Wolfe in size. Sanders was small, but still 20 pounds heavier, give or take (at the same height). Wolfe is minute. Read what I said -- "Even if you like the pick..." Even if you think he'll defy the odds for guys his size, you have to be delusional to not understand the concern.
  7. Most grades seem to be in the B-C range, which is fine. I'd say it's a B+/B draft. Some of the criticisms are kind of silly, though. Like here, calling Bazuin "undersized"? Under Lovie, the linemen have always been a bit smaller than normal. A 270 lb de doesn't surprise me at all. The Wolfe criticisms are warranted, though. (Even if you like the pick, you have to understand the doubts.)
  8. I'd say minimum 8 games, very possibly the season.
  9. I like the Walker signing quite a bit. He was a decent rb in college, and, imho, they had an awful offensive line. (Harris was the nominal star, and he did nothing but disappoint in the predraft workouts.) No udfa is a good bet, ever, but I think Walker is one of the best this year.
  10. Leak thought he'd enjoy leading the Chicago practice squad more than another team's. That's all it is.
  11. Just based on what I've read, Gabe Hall would be nice, too. A very raw ot with the athletic ability (apparently) to play on the left. But the Bears haven't been very aggressive about pursuing undrafted fas in the past. We'll see.
  12. The Texans are going to be sorely disappointed, then.
  13. Do you mean this year? I really doubt that. I'm almost positive they'll pencil him in as a backup. If he shines in practice enough to earn a starting spot, all the better, but it won't happen immediately. I don't know anything about him but what I've read, I'm just saying, it's not the Bears' mo to hand a third-round pick a starting job.
  14. Have they said they're looking at Okwo on the inside? I thought he was considered an olb, probably a will -- ???
  15. As for wr -- they added a pass-catching te and Wolfe is supposed to be a good receiver. Then you put Hester in the mix on offense, and they may have figured there really wasn't any need, and perhaps they just didn't like the value.
  16. Sounds like someone who's strictly a rt project.
  17. Good. I was trying to figure out who this year's Ernest Shazor is. Now I know.
  18. Rufus Alexander off the board to the Vikings.
  19. Supposedly, McNair himself was pushing for Smith.
  20. Oh, how I love being wrong on that one.
  21. I wouldn't say he's light for his frame, at all. The problem is that football isn't relative in that way. A similarly proportionate 6'2" linebacker with 245 pounds hits you...whatever frame you have, 60 pounds is 60 pounds. It takes some rare, 0.01% kind of toughness to endure that. Hopefully, Wolfe has it in spades.
  22. About Wolfe, my scepticism comes largely from the fact that only one runner of similar size has had a long run of success in the NFL -- Warrick Dunn. But it's at least interesting that Dunn was drafted by Tampa Bay when Angelo was in charge of scouting. Maybe he just has a good eye for that one-in-a-million little guy. That's what I'll cling to, anyway.
  23. After everything, my biggest disappointment is that we couldn't work out the Briggs situation. Considering his agent, I think it's pretty likely he carries through on his holdout, and it's sad to think we'll be just wasting such an asset. And I'm not blaming Angelo for this. I understand why he didn't want to move up to the #6. (Especially considering the talent we got at the bottom of the round.) It's just a disappointment. I'm holding out (pun intended) hope we can deal him for decent 2008 picks.
  24. Even in a weak draft, with so few linemen being called, there should be enough talent left to justify a pick at the bottom of the third. Only a handful of guards were taken, even counting Blalock and Sears as guards. I'm just thinking the draft's gonna get a whole lot thinner fast tomorrow, and we're set to wait 30 picks. Dunno about this.
