People forget Minnesota as a dark horse for Cousins. They are probably a decent QB away from being really, really good.

Guys, does anyone know who "wins" the tiebreaker between Bears/TB? I thought that TB because of their division, has a stronger SOS, along with the Bears now having Cleveland on their schedule. Is there any clarification about this? Thanks.

No. This had a chance to be a franchise-altering draft for the Bears, with a trade down with a team coming up to get a QB, they may have received 1-2 additional 1st rounders, plus other picks. It would have more than made up for what Pace gave up for Trubisky.........Now that is not going to happen, as the QBs will all be gone by the time the Bears pick. They are probably going to be picking in the 12-16 range now because I don't see them losing to Cleveland. 5-11 at worst(record wise) and 7-9 at best(or worst if you look at it that way) and with the strongest SOS, Bears will be picking at the end of that pack. Finishing 7-9 could have them picking as low as 18.

They should have saved that for next season. They could have had a franchise-altering draft with a trade down with someone coming up to get a QB, and they blew that now. Next week is an auto-win vs. Cleveland. Detroit is out of it and Minne may have nothing to play for week 17 so 6-10 or 7-9 is possible, and that would be a disaster.

No, It is really hard for a rebuilding team to expect to compete when they have 4 consecutive 1st rounders go down to at least one season ending injury that impacts their ability to perform to that level going forward, especially when 2 of them are top 10 guys and another is top 15. I have ALWAYS said that it isn't the GM's fault when 1st rounders have career altering injuries that make them worse players than they otherwise would have been if not for the injuries.

[sarcasm] Yes, and next Mitch is going to get sacked on his throwing shoulder and tear a labrum. [/sarcasm]

Miller just broke his leg in half. Yet another weapon gone for Mitch.

Gentry wasn't set on that play and the refs missed it. I thought for sure that the flag was coming immediately.

TOP skewed greatly toward the trailing team leads to blown leads because of gassed defenders. Bears D needs to get off the field and the offense needs to give them a break with a sustained drive.

If that safety from UConn goes here to Seattle, then trade down is a good option.

Would have been funnier if they would have said Uncle Rico instead of Napoleon Dynamite. Just nitpicking, but still funny.

I wanted to get other fan's opinions on this topic because I am stuck in between on this one. On one hand, if Cutler and Forte don't get hurt, IMO they finish 12-4 with an outside shot at beating GB in Lambeau to finish 13-3. That would suggest that they are right there and only need a few tweaks to get there, mainly a #1 WR and a LT. OTOH, the Bears defense is aging with all of their stars on the wrong side of 30, and on offense, Cutler is going to be 29 this season, so he probably has 4-6 years left of being a reliable option before his skills start to erode. I would probably go for it in the 2012 season, and win or lose, dismantle the team after the season. They should cap screw themselves and just say f*** it we're going for it and this is the last hurrah for this team. Emery should let Lovie go after the season if they fall short, and if they win because of the new direction of the team, ask him to resign.(as in quit) Cutler goes after the season too, because when the team is good again, he won't be. The team is then Emery's baby and they can rebuild going forward. motto: "In Phil We Trust" If Emery thinks that the Bears can't win this season because DET/GB are too good, then by all means dismantle the team this offseason. I would like to argue that if you think that the Bears are 3+ seasons away from winning the SB, then why do you want to keep Jay Cutler on this team? If that is the case, then the 2 firsts+ would be more valuable to the team long-term than Cutler would be. I'm sure that the Redskins would pay a ridiculous price for him.

1. Mike McCaskey 2. Packers 3. 18-26 year old Packer fans who were born and raised in the Chicago area who are Packer fans because Wanne/Jauron were garbage and Favre was made out to be God when we were growing up. 4. Neutral site Super Bowls Seriously, why are you depriving season ticket holders of the chance to see their team win the championship? If a team has a better record, it should be in their home stadium. They earned that right. and finally... 5. Single elimination Super Bowl-To me, this is the worst thing about the NFL. I can live with the playoffs being single elimination, but the Super Bowl should be double elimination. You have to beat a team twice to win. Go to a 14 game season to get it done. The 2001 Patriots and 2007 Giants were NOT better teams than the 2001 Rams and 2007 Patriots. Those two teams would have beaten the their SB opponent 9/10 times; they just happened to win that one game. Furthermore, I think a 14 game season with the teams with the four best records in each conference making the playoffs, where each playoff round is double elimination would be ideal, and make for a better, more exciting playoff season. And you would always know who the best teams are. Eliminate 2 preseason games, go to a 14 game season starting the last week of August, with a 1-1-1 playoff system with the four best records from each confrence making the playoffs. Furthermore, there should be no inter-confrence games. The only meeting between AFC and NFC is in the championship series. The NFL wants more football, and IMO this is the best way to do it. Don't add it to the regular season, add it to the playoffs. An 18 game season with the maximum amount of playoff games in current system= 18+4=22 games. 14 game season with maximum amount of playoff games=14+9=23 games with the possibility of only 14+6 games=20 which is the same amount of games that it takes a team that takes a wild card round team currently to go to the super bowl and win it.

If Lovie really believes this he should be fired.
McGowan replied to butkusrules's topic in Bearstalk
In all honesty, I thought that the Bears should not have extended Lovie after the Super Bowl appearance. Why, you might ask? It was simple to me. You wait and see if he has another winning season afterwards, barring injuries to the major players(Urlacher,Harris,Briggs,Brown) in 2007. If they have a bad season, you get to pay less. If they have a good season, you pay more, but you are pretty sure you have a good coach. They failed in 2007 and IMO every year since. Now we're stuck with an overpaid coach who can't perform the duties required in his job description. Furthermore, fans are not jumping ship because of the hangover from the Cincinatti game, they're jumping ship because the Bears looked like a bad team playing a god awful team. When you can't score a TD in your first 3 red zone trips against the 32nd ranked defense in the NFL, Bears=Bad Offense. The Offensive line looked like swiss cheese rather than a brick wall-against the worst defense in the league. Last week was the most pathetic 24 point win ever. To put icing on the cake, the Browns scored a TD on their first and only red zone appearance. I honestly think that if Brady Quinn started that game the Bears might have lost. If the bears play like that against the Rams, they will lose. -
I like DJ Hackett. He did pretty well in Seattle and was hurt in Carolina last year. I'd also take a flyer on Reggie Williams from Jacksonville. Either/or would be fine.
-
He was carrying a concealed weapon, and the gun he was carrying was unlicensed. I read that in NY that's a felony offense with minimum 3.5 years time.
-
I'd be all for it if he doesn't do any time. Even if he did something like 90 days I'd be okay with it. Sign him when his suspension is up. However, I do think he is probably going to do major time like Vick, so it's all moot.
-
If the defense does what it did last year, we'll be picking #1 in the draft in April. Even if the defense plays up to par in the first few games, it's just a matter of time before the fatigue based injuries come up, because the defense will be on the field probably 35-45 minutes per game.
-
My biggest worry is that the offense will struggle to score 10 PPG, and because of this, the defense is on the field 40 minutes every game, and injuries start to pile up on the defensive side, sending us into a downward spiral that leads to a 1-15 record.

Woodson Gone. Wow, now there's no QBs left on the board that are worth drafting. Why did they take a TE instead of Ainge or Woodson?

They take Earl Bennett from Vanderbilt. Who??
