  1. Because while everyone else is playing chess, we are playing Candyland... Not even checkers. Checkers requires some skill and not just dumb luck.
  2. The big takeaway is that Pace did not meet w/ Watson. That seems like he's not doing due diligence and failed at his job. A fire-able offense in my book. Not saying he should be, but saying others have been fired over less. And his chicken sh&t a$$ didn't want to comment on the article. Boo.
  3. I'm not sold. That said, he is the one potential available guy that has a ridiculously high ceiling. From that standpoint, it might be worth the shot. I'd give up one of our 2's for him. But, I think they'd want more.
  4. Danimal at his finest...(obviously not on the field)
  5. Yeah, WTF happened to Eddie J? He looks pedestrian at best.
  6. Loved that! My dad is an Allini alumni... Good to see Smith get this team going in the right direction!
  7. I'm with you on Nagy... I wish Pace or George would have the stones to make the move. But they don't, so here we go again...
  8. We need to do something different....otherwise the old definition of insanity sets in. Why the hell not?
  9. That is interesting. Maybe barring the rare exceptions at the top of the heap, these young guys need more time...
  10. Not to be crude, but a number of my friends have dubbed him "Bitch Trushitzky" ... I laugh. Because otherwise I'd have to cry.
  11. I hear you and I too "want" a change. But it's just not going to happen in-season. We will limp through as we always do. Leopards don't change their spots. I think we can all stomach a fail w/Tru. Finding out Nagy is a bust would really set us back. I even think a new GM isn't that big of a deal. Changing a coaching staff sets us back. If Pace can't draft first rounders, we can hope he hired the right coach still.
  12. I understand the desire to clean house. It's just that it won't happen in reality. No major change will happen until season's end. Testman was off the rails and they waited that one out. In this case, just last year, there was success.
  13. As much as you'd want, the one thing the Bears will never do, barring something truly odd (like a murder charge), is fire a HC or GM mid season.
  14. It was smoke & Mirrors last year. He was a dynamic, fun, positive coach. And the results showed that our team looked massively improved. But, now that the curtain has been pulled back...he's just another Tony Robbins rah-rah guy. He'll get a lot of rope to fail and we'll have to endure it. Honestly, I have so little faith in this franchise, and I vow the following: 1. I will never again have hope at the beginning of any season until they have 2 winning seasons in a row. 2. I will never gain buy a shirt or jersey of any player that is not in the HoF (ie. Url, Butkus, Walter), or a Bears legend (Tillman, McMahon, etc.) 3. I will still keep watching and caring. Regardless of how crummy, I just can't quit you, Bears! But, I will complain about it!
  15. Yeah, the "rah-rah-rah, sis-cum-bah" thing only works so long. Last year worked because the D was getting ridiculous turnovers. It was smoke & mirrors. Sure, a better QB will get some better results. But, so much of the problem is Nagy. We were sold on a bill of goods that he would get us into the 20th century on O. We've reverted to 1,000,000 BC...
  16. Your fixes would certainly improve the situation. But, I fear the problem is Pace & Nagy...
  17. I disagree. The McCaskey's won't fire Pace, but they certainly could and probably should. I would imagine there are a ton of guys that would gladly take this job. You get a 1st round pick the following year. Most GM's don't draft great their first year in. Their guys haven't been in place. Take the gamble now. Get your team in place, and draft in the first round next year. The GM needs to just get a competent veteran back-up. Draft a potential back-up/long-shot starter QB. Obtain a competent TE somewhere. The D is good enough right now. I'd say same w/ the coach. If we go off the rails, as much as the McCaskey's love Nagy....if it gets Trestman bad, you most certainly can fire him. Hire Dave Toub. That said, we will stand pat, and let the 3 stooges continue. But, it can (and probably should) be done.
  18. Hell. When you are compared w/ CLE. You are in...football hell.
  19. Bingo! Last year was the exception. Pace is on track for 4 losing seasons out of 5. That sh%7 would get my a$$ fired...
  20. You are not, my friend! I am right there w/ you.
  21. I miss Doug Buffone... I hear ya. I still will watch because I want to see how Monty does despite getting no love from Visor-boy. I used to like watching this D, but they are starting to phone it in.
  22. Yeah, I now see that. Didn't on first read.
  23. If we let him play in 2020 and then let him go, do we get a compensatory pick? I see that as having some value. Or potentially trading him to someone that thinks they can get something out of him that we aren't. I'm done w/ all the Pace experiments. Even Roquan looks suspect. I hope he's ok, but from what seemed like a no brainer pick, it sure reeks of yet another botch.
