It's simply one more different type of weapon that can be used... I'd say he could be a much stronger threat coming out of the backfield...which is handy on 3rd and longs when you don't want to put up a risky pass.

Excellent post! Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this matter. I've wrestled with positive and negative with this franchise on a regular basis. Overall, we got what most hte fan base has wanted for years...a legitimate chance at landing a franchise QB in the draft. We might all disagree who that should have been or whether we should have traded up for it... But, the move is bold and lands hopefully "our guy" for years to come. I really questioned the TE pick...but I readily fell into the trap listening to the talking heads. Pace hitched his wagon to Trubisky. We won't know the end result until a few years down the road, which give him more time to get more players/etc and possibly a new coaching staff. I expect Glennon to play out this upcoming season and Trubisky to start in 2018. So, I think until the end of 2019, we won't know what to really think. Along the way, there can be some good or bad tell tale signs, and I guarantee all of us will be looking for them!

If Glennon thought he was going to be the franchise for the next 5 years and the Bears had no possibility of drafting a QB high, then there's a lot air between his ears...

Absolutely a great post stinger. There's a lot to digest there, and you've done a great job of laying it all out there. I feel a bit better about our situation after reading it. I'm down on our record, but up on our talent level. I think we still get 4-6 wins...but I think all the losses are really close. And I think we start seeing some big improvement on D, and some good improvement on O. I don't know how Glennon/Trubisky will ultimately play out...be it one is doing well, once gets injured...who knows? But, I'm really interested in camp and pre-season to see what these guys potentially have.

Call me crazy, but why not draft the QB regardless? You keep an open competition and may the best one win, the second best back him up and wait for offers... I'd rather gamble on having too many franchise QB's than none at all...

Here's hoping we can fill some d-back needs! After a few days of sleeping on the picks...it's obvious Pace wanted to improve our O. He did starting w/ getting Glennon in the mix as a veteran. Then he added a few FA pieces like Simms. Now he's drafted our future franchise QB. Got him a huge target who might be able to contribute decently this upcoming season. I'm excited to see who we can land now. We gave up what we gave up. It's done and it's time to move forward. All the picks today are more than what we had going in Thursday morning. Let's hope we can hit on one or two and get a some legit starters. And, at minimum, get some good back-ups. I don't care that everyone thinks Lynch punked us. Or that we gave up too much. All I care is that Trubisky is a star! We can wait a year to reap those fruits. We waited this long, and no one had us pegged to be beastly this season no matter who the hell we drafted. Also, F those a$$holes that booed Trubisky at the Bulls game. Every fan base has it's a-holes. Even us. Thankfully, they are not nearly as bad as other teams! People don't get brutally assaulted in the Soldier Field restrooms on a regular basis like they do in SF. Pace may have whiffed...and he if did, he (and we) will pay the price. None of us fly the jet. We just have to hope the pilot knows what he's doing. I honestly don't know. He's shown signs of knowing what he's doing and has shown signs that he doesn't. I hope, since it's felt like eons, that we finally get some good luck! The law of averages has to come around! Bears!
