As much as I want a regime change, I cannot root for GB...I hope we pull off the miracle win and rain on their parade. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/story?columnist=schefter_adam&id=4725645 Upset of the week: Chicago over Green Bay -- The Packers have won four straight, are coming off a Monday night game -- and are due for the letdown that is awaiting them in Chicago.

http://www.suntimes.com/sports/football/be...earnt11.article Selction: Injury report Wide receiver Devin Hester (calf) didn't practice again Thursday and would need a quick recovery today to play against the Packers. ''It's never a good sign when a guy misses two days of practice,'' coach Lovie Smith said. Hester had four catches for 90 yards against the Packers in the opener, including a 36-yard touchdown. But he had only one catch in each of the last two games -- for 20 and 48 yards. Left tackle Orlando Pace (groin) practiced on a limited basis but is expected to start. Linebackers Lance Briggs (knee) and Hunter Hillenmeyer (groin) and defensive tackles Tommie Harris (knee) and Israel Idonije (knee) practiced and are expected to start.

I think I'm more making a point that JA is a dummy for making the trade! Only if JA is the GM fool giving up high picks, would it make sense. Most other GM's would give a lot less. You are right, it's apples and organges to a large extent regarding Gonzalez. But you're getting a proven commodity w/ TonyG. With Olsen, you only get potential. And as nfo mentioned with Shockey...you're getting a far more proven blocker than Matador Greg. WR's tend to be valued higher than TE's in the NFL in general. And the Jets gave up much lower than a 2nd and gave up some average players. I'd have had no issue with that with Adams. I just do not remotely see any GM giving up a 2nd for Olsen straight up whether it be high or low on the board. The only possibility would be some team having 2 2nd round picks, one of which is a lower pick, and big hole at a pass catching TE, and are on the verge of a SB run. Maybe a team like Cincy...or Arizona... I'm OK moving Olsen if we could get a #2! Otherwise, it's best we just utilize his skill sets here beter.

Anyone have info on why Gaines Adams was not active for Sunday

How about we swtich to a 3-4 and try the guy as a LB in that scheme? Just a thought.... -
Fair enough. But at at least those 60's teams beat up opponents physically and had them scared they'd be black and blue. Teams now are salivating at a chance to get us and prop their stats and get an easy win. I was over the top joking about wearing a bag...but some kind of message needs to be sent to ownership that this isn't right. We fans are too damn loyal that we'l go to the games, so help me think of another way to express displeasure that would be seen/heard realistically?
-
Points well made.

I think I'd second think that bag... if I'm wearin' my Payton jersey, I can't wear a bag.

Pix, I'm glad you posted that. I think I needed a dose of that. I am embarassed of the current product, but not the entire emblem. I'm with you, I am a fan through thick or thin. I'm just pissed off it's been too thin for far too long... I think the only people I can stand bag on the Bears are fans. We need to vent badly. Anyone else that I hear doing it, I pretty much want to sock. I think it was Boone from Animal House that said it..."They can't make fun of our pledges. Only we can make fun of our pledges." For Walter. For Butkus. For Halas. For Sayers. For Sid. For Singletary. For Hampton. For Dent. For George. For Bronko. For Grange. For Piccolo. For Atkins. For JimmyMac. For Ditka. Go Bears.
-
I completely understand where you're coming from.... In fact, if I had tickets and had to go to a game, I would wear a bag over my head. Fans need to send a message to this ownership that this will not be tolerated. I'm so utterly repulsed by the sight of JA and Smith that I find it dificult to watch games without a stack of Tums and bottle of Pepto.

Fair enough... But, I just can't cut any slack to someone covering the Bears getting paid for such as a service of information to spew something that is absolutely untrue. I do listen to the Score in the mornings, and he comes off better there...but this article is a blatant mis-truth. But I think you mistake my outrage against Briggs solely against him...it more follows the theme of nfo's comment that there seems to be factions. Those seemlingly behind Bears' moves and those against. I think both factions have made their erronous and false statements. But given the current failings, to prop the OL is just beyond ridiculous. My "liar" comment was more a generality than towards Briggs directly. It's like politican spin moreso.... Which, I find even more appauling. And also, because I did like Briggs and his comments in the past, I'm more upset than I normally would be. When I read the crap from someone like a Mariotti, I could care less. But from someone I held to a higher standard, darn right I'm more irritated.

Gaines Adams was also considered an easy first rounder. College prospect does not equate to NFL automatically. Granted, I am being harsh, but Tony Gonzalez, who some say could be considered the best TE of all time only garnished a 2nd round pick. Yes, he's older, etc.. but the fact is, most TE's don't garnish much. Your Shockey example also isn't quite apples and apples. Jeremy has been around a lot longer... Realistically, a 3rd could be had. But I figure NFL GM's aren't as stupid as JA and wouldn't bite on a TE that can't block and doesn't go all out for passes and give up a 2nd. Expect less, hope for more. If you expect more, you are going to be disappointed.

Good analogy... But I think a better one is to treat a gull bladder infection with Pepto. You might feel a little better for a while, but the underlying problem is still there and will not get better until the infection itself is treated. In fact, masking up the symptoms with Pepto could cause more harm in the lonrg term and the infection could worsen. That's where I fear we are... I do get that doing something in our case is better than nothing. But again, I will not financially support this club until I feel competent people are running the show. And the changes you mention won't make the regime competent.

Really, no hope. Just cosmetics... Some house cleaning would feel good at first, but it will only mask the true villains in this tragic comedy...

Ridiculous. I used to think highly of him as well. I even saw where Morrissey is now on the Sun Times. If Rosenbloom goes to the Sun Times than i think the McCaskey's have brought a share of the Trib! I dislike Rosenbloom, but he's now really the only voice is dissent on the Trib. Maybe Mcneil...but he's a little too blow-hardy and really just a radio personality. i have lost respect regardless. If he truly feels that, he isn't doing his homework and watching games. If he's being told to say it, then he's just a paid liar.
-
I hope my talk isn't big and I fold like a house of cards when I see some cool product or get offered good seats! But, I really do truly intend not to buy Bears products. I live out west as well in LA. I ended up doing both Chicago and Vegas. I went to the Lions game. I was still high on Cutler, and at least at that point, things were going OK. I think we need more "loyal consumers" like yourself! You're not going in with blind faith, you're questioning things. Most of us here on this board are just that. Some more vocal than others is all!
-
Is that Brad Briggs writing that? It's prety much a blatant lie and misdirection of truth regardless which sycophant wrote it...
-
I agree. ...and think both will be around at least one more year. I have a gut feeling they may wait out the CBA... If it's in the air, I think we stay the course. if something's figured out, we may see some kind of big move. With such uncertainty, I figure the McCaskey's play it status quo and financially safe. People will still go to games regardless...
-
Interesting... But I htink unfortunately JA is one of the problems as well. But, one out of 2 ain't bad...
-
At least we can see a move toward the future I hope instead of Smith trying to hold onto his job... I think...
-
You can set your watch to it.

Really? I guess I'm buying into the hype more than I should. I think Tillman does have some great value. I think given a good DC and a decent defense, he could be a beast. He prettymuch was in '06. But, I would much rather keep him.
-
I agree w/ you on Briggs... Great player, but not enough so to not dangle him as a possibility to get a #1 from someone. He's having a good season amidst our terrible overall season, so there may well be takers. I'm not sure I would let Olsen go for a 3rd, but for a second, I'd think about it. I just fear the clown doing the picking...
-
I fear Kruetz is done. Especially next year. May as well get Beelman in there and bring in another OG. I don't want to remotely get rid of Tillman! But, he does have value. I'd actually prefer him moved to FS, and let some of the corners develop. I also feel a defensive philosophy change would help tremendously... yes! I agree, Olsen also has value, and I woulfdn't mind him moved since we have Davis.

HHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for posting that!!!!
