  1. Great stuff jason! Thanks for keeping at this. Post-combine items: 1. Yeah, the shoulder surgery does scare me from Allen. I don't think Pace can afford another injury riddled guy, Even the perception might be enough to scare him away. At the end we won't know until week 1...but I am weary at minimum. 2. Mahomes being Cutler-light doesn't really mean anything. It's all just speculation until he lines up. He's very raw. Taking him would be interesting at minimum. It's a gamble worth taking if the powers that be think he could be the guy. I also have a buddy that went to Texas Tech, so he love him and what the hell...we have to draft someone don't we? 3. No. As big a concern, no. A concern still? Yes. 4. I think a TE is still needed. I'm not yet convinced Sims will be all that. The potential is there. And this draft seems to after a decent number of TE prospects. And there's a guy named Butt (my inner Beavis just chuckled...)! We had a Butkus, why not a Butt!? Overall, the adjust draft you have..I'd be pleased with.
  2. My bad. Meant 2014. Still don't want him regardless.

  4. As a FA, I'd have leaped at him. To cost us picks and youth...no.
  5. No. He is old. His performance last year was awful. ...and the year before that, etc. And, by all accounts, he beats his children. No. F&*% no.
  6. I like your overall logic on this jason. I think the only possibility for QB, would be possibly Watson. Someone they feel has "it"...but isn't quite ready for prime time NFL action. Glennon's deal isn't so huge...especially if Pace think he has an "it" guy. Glennon could simply be the stop gap w/ a potential to be more and to help Fox attempt to win some games now to keep his job. I agree on CB completely...also to a large degree S. It's just difficult to see them taking a S that high. Are we talking the next Ronnie Lott? Othewise...it would make the most sense for DL as you mention. Could be maybe an ILB...but I'm not sure that guy is in this draft at #3 overall.
  7. I would tend to also think we go D in the first, then go QB next. However, I do see a possible move up...especially if a few of those names are still sitting there.
  8. I think we've switched glasses! I like what I've been hearing, but I just need a "prove it" scenario to fall into place before I get excited. My expectations are low. But, I'm far from upset about it.
  9. I generally agree. But we are so devoid of talent in the secondary, that landing an anchor of 5 years at a premium given the cap space we have is not too much to ask for. It is ultimately won in the draft. No doubt. But...our cupboards are so barren, that we must attempt a stab at an anchor when available...especially given cap space.
  10. I agree. Which is why we must offer up more of a premium We need to pay more... It's the cost of sucking. We needn't have signed all 3 of those DB's...especially Gilmore. Even that money is out of the norm for NE. But, we could have landed one of the other two... Jax ain't all that. Yes, "draft better" is the most important. But, you must also spend more. Do it less often, but you still have to and it will cost more than you'd like.
  11. 1. So long Cutty. Not sad to see you go. You didn't live up to what we gave up (the 1st round picks) and gave (all the loot and all the years) you. You were tough. The brass didn't help you out much with tons of coaching changes and crummy talent to work with for a while. But, ultimately, you failed. One playoff win during your tenure isn't just on everything else other than you... Thank you. 2. Hello Mr. Glennon. We just want to know you are giving your all right now. My expectations are low. Very low. But, maybe you'll surprise us. You do have some potential upside. You are young. Maybe you've improved your game? I hope so. If not, keep on giving it your all and you can make a good living being a great back-up here. The price for Glennon is not bad. It is what it is. Overall, we will be paying less this season for the QB spots than last year. 3. Demps - OK. He's good. But he's old. He'll be a nice bandaid while we hopefully groom someone from this draft class. 4. Prince - Dmmit, I love the name...but I feel similarly about him as I do with Demps. He's younger, but I think it's just a band aid. He's got injury issues. He'll improve the secondary, but not by leaps and bounds. But, unlike Demps...there's a chance he could catch on, stay healthy and be with us for a while. I hope so. 5. Sims - Sounds like a good blocking TE for our solid running game. Nothing earth shattering, but good. 6. Wheaton. I feel like he's to the WR as Prince is to the CB's. Should be a positive, but is injury prone. However, like Prince...there is a chance he could flourish. It's a low risk move. At worst...a really good WR3? 7. Pace - I'm still angered by not landing one of the 3 top DB's to just put a young body who is good back there. We would have over-paid maybe...but we desperately need it. This whiff will mean we HAVE to address it int he draft. Which means we won't be able to BPA. There will be opportunity cost. Pace can make up for it in the draft for sure. But, this element is a fail. My expectations for next season are still very low despite what we still do in FA and the draft. Assuming health, which I'm not so sure can be assumed with our snake bitten franchise, but we should be better than 3-13. One poster (sorry, I forget who...) said the over/under is at 5 wins. I think that sounds about right. I think 5 is it. 6 if we get some breaks.

  13. That's the market... If you want what's on the market, you pay market price. So, it's not necessarily good that you didn't want to pay. If you don't think the talent is there, that's different. But, that's the price...just as it is for Glennon. And the Bears are not an attractive gig. So, ont top of market price, we must pay more of a premium because we suck.
  14. Good overall assessment. However, there should be some downgrade for swinging and missing yet again on pick ups. We could have filled more gaps and did not. The hope should be you land at least 1 top need at DB, and we missed on all 3.
  15. Thank you Stinger...your post took me off the ledge. For now!
  16. Value move. Almost no risk at all... If he pans out, it could be huge though.
  17. No. He had a 50% winning percentage... Sid Luckman was a superior QB. He is in the hall of fame. Cutler won't sniff it...
