  1. I hear ya. OL is THE need. But, we should have loot, and if guys are out there, we need to buy them up since we have no draft so to speak. Should have taken Mendenhall... Yeah, Forte is just not good. One odd thing I noticed it that on the one TD play, he was sent up the middle as usual by the ever-s- imaginative Turner, but no, he saw it close-up and bounced it to the outside. Viola! TD! We cannot run inside with this line. Let's not try it in crucial points anymore. We need to run up the guy every now and then to keep other teams' slightly honest, but at this point, we may as well just have Cutler spike the ball.
  2. So true! There are more posts on a bye week! Granted, they didn't try passing that much. But still, I expected more form our DL against them. This game really showed me that Kreutz is finished... He can't do it anymore. Many have seen is coming for the past few years. But he looked like a shell of himself yesterday.
  3. I just saw it this morning... It brought a tear to my eye... Walter is why we so many of us are fans...
  4. Blah. Meh. Whatever... It showed nothing. We did what we were supposed to. We didn't really show we could move the ball agasint a horrid defense. The D had some turnovers, but most were gifts other than a couple really nice plays by D. Manning. It was nice to see Forte score and do OK, but I wasn't impressed. Here's a few observations from my couch... 1. Anytime Walter gets a tribute of any sort, I get a tear in my eye. Darn dust. That man is why we are Bears fans. 'nuff said. 2. Cutler is one tough SOB. The team is giving him no help, he's getting pounded, and still mans up and plays hard. Kudos. We need to HELP this man play... 3. D. Manning has one hell of a game. Yes, it helps to go against the Browns, but he had a damn good game. Maybe, just maybe he's turning the corner to being a very good d-back. One can hope... 4. The OL is just garbage. Top to bottom. They should all go. Seriously. Blowing the ewhole thing up couldn't be much worse than it is now, could it? Not one guy on that line should feel safe about his/her job. 5. The game left me feeling like Smith. I'm emotionless. It was what it should have been. We've learned nothing, and we've seen nothing we hadn't seen nor expected. Maybe the only negative is that Beekman didn't appear all that great of an upgrade over the turnstile Omiyale. But, then again, the tackles and center seemed to get blown up more than extas on "Mythbusters"... I think this next game will be telling. AZ, while beaten up by CAR, is a good team. A dangerous team. Their D also isn't horrible. This will be a good test.
  5. I still think we need a "big boy" WR... I think the development, but our guys are not "go to" guys...or can make plays. We need a legit WR threat. OL is still the obvious need... The OL is just garbage.
  6. Excatly! nfo and I said simlar last season... As David Byrne would say..."Same as it ever was..."
  7. Lies, damn lies, and statistics!
  8. OK, now I'm convinced I could do a better job at GM than him!
  9. You are SO right, it ain't even funny! They write good taglines, and bad articles!
  10. Do you really feel he is truly great?
  11. I saw a little clip of him on the internet a while back, and apparently, he's been the ball boy since being a little kid. Seemed like a genuinely nice kid...
  12. Rodgers, Sharper, Knox win NFC player of month honors Posted by Mike Florio on October 29, 2009 4:34 PM ET The NFL has unveiled the players of the month for October. For the NFC, the offensive player of the month is Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who somehow generated a 123.9 passer rating while otherwise running for his life behind a porous offensive line. He completed 74.5 percent of his throws, and he averaged 10.5 yards per attempt in leading the Packers to two wins in three games. Saints safety Darren Sharper is the NFC defensive player of the months, thanks to three interceptions in October, two of which were returned for touchdowns in three games. The Packers and Saints have owned the offensive and defensive awards for the first two months of the season; Green Bay cornerback Charles Woodson was the defensive player of the month for September, and Saints quarterback Drew Brees was the offensive player of the month. Bears rookie kick returner Johnny Knox won the NFC special teams player of the month award, with 12 kickoff returns for 347 yards and a 102-yard touchdown. All three award winners played only three games in during the month of October, since the Packers, Saints, and Bears each had a bye week. Permalink 22 Comments Back to Top
  13. I'm willing to give the ball guy a pass since he ran with J. Knox right down the field that one game. Everyone else is on notice!
  14. Man, you can post whatever and whenever you like! (...as long as it has to to with the bears of course!)
  15. I never expect any honesty from our coaches when it comes to any negative. Nor, do I really from many other coaches. Just some are worse at it, and our staff is probably the worst.
  16. Agreed. It's called doing your job...due dilligence so to speak. The Bears have been negligent in that... In fact, this move was called for by many before the season started... My thought is more, "It's about bloody time!"
  17. he does make it so easy, doesn't he?
  18. I fully agree. He constantly plays us for fools. It's irritating. Don't you think being forthright for the first time would actually garnish him some goodwill? At least we're seeing some change happen that a good chunk of us were hoping. Seeing the Pace/Williams flip flop willprobably never happen... At least we're putting the best options in those roles. but, yeah, until we stop giving WR's 8-9 yards of cushion, we're still going to struggle mightily.
  19. Have we reached the age where you should pay larger sums for shorter periods?
  20. I heard the talking heads on the Score say it. Not sure if they are correct, but given the amount, if he's not the highest, he's up there. And I think barring someone getting an extention I wasn't aware of...he's the last guy I recall getting one.
  21. I could see Martz coming in at OC... Not sure about DC. Maybe Marinelli... I'd rather see different, but I think as long as Smith's in charge in any capacity, we're going to see a student of the Tampa 2 somehow...
  22. Well....you do keep brining up your "you're not a GM" bullcr$p. Trunaround is fairplay. Just saying, you come off very jerky yourself when you constantly do that. Honestly, I love most your arguments, even when I disagree. We all want to vent... I don't want to stop you if you feel adamant about bringing your point up. But I wanted to just let you know it comes off bad. I apologize for being jerky. I was irritated by the comment, and wanted to respond. I want to encourage discussion...even heated discussion of topics and thoeries. Just not the constant reminder that none of this matters because no one here works for the NFL.... Sorry, that's just the way it comes off.
  23. You know what. I think you're right! At first, I agreed with Brian that it wasn't Smith's fault those guys were picked up. While maybe it's not 50/50, he does get some blame. Some percentage. He has to have some input as the highest paid coach in the NFL. ...and your theory of letting him go based on the various records is a solid one. Smith shouldn't be fired mid-season. I think he's at least earned that. But I agree, if we go 8-8 or worse...or miss the playoffs at 9-7, he should be gone. I honestly don't think he will be, even if we drop 10 in a row. But he should be. I just think we'll see a new OC, maybe DC...and Smith put on the seat seriously. Bears won't eat 11Mil. But they might eat 5.5. Maybe...
