  1. I'd like to see a flip flop maybe... Get Williams on the left and put Pace on the right. Eventually, isn't that where we want Williams?
  2. The one thing that must be done is getting Beekman in there. That's a quick easy fix. Smith won't fire a soul, so the only hope is he keeps the title and the waterboy becomes the "Executive in Charge of Linemen Activity".
  3. I hear ya. We need a bonafide "on the field" leader. Like Singletary, a Ray Lweis, a Mike Brown...we need a kick ass stud w/ a mindset for the role. I hope by the time we are potentially ready to take a WR, we find we already have him! Until I see it, I'll continue to think we still need one. Forte's situation is just so frustrating on so many levels... I wonder if some truth will pop out as season's end that he's been injured...
  4. Smith's as honest as a politician. Nothin' that comes out of his mouth do I believe.
  5. Hey! I coined Zombie Smith last year! I'm calling the copyright infringement guys!
  6. I'm with you both on this.... Look at our SB run in 1985... That great line was set up by a few drafts before our SB year. Before that Sweetness was pretty much running behind hodge-podge lines... Low and behold...it get a SB win! We need to take that philosophy again. We cannot whif on picks. As much good as JA's done, it may appear he's done as much damage...
  7. Bingo! All schemes eventually get figured out. Good defenses simply can play them all, and more correctly, play the right ones at the right time.
  8. I hear you... The expected win against Cleveland will be the smoke & mirrors Smith needs to tell everyone it's all back on track...
  9. Agreed! I'd like to see what Gilbert has...
  10. I follow. yes, 2 good OL will make a difference... New coaching staff should also improve the team vastly.
  11. Some good ones there... DOn't want Clifton and College. Too old, too many ?'s... And they were Packers.
  12. I love the overall plan. I just don't see the success of it coming as fast as you imply...
  13. I nice to see someone so positive... Sorry to say, I'm not in your camp. We are far more than 3 signings away...unless those signings are 2 starting O-linemen from Minny...Troy Polamalu and Mario Williams. oops that's 4. We're still f'ed.
  14. If we're going to use outdated systems, let go back to the "T"! At least we came up with it!
  15. I agree. But compared to Briggs, Urlacher is George S. Patton. We do need better. We need another Mike Brown. But I'll settle for Url until we can get the whole thing going in the right direction again. I love you analogy! We are up s%$# creek w/o a paddle. I think we're on the same page regarding needs. I think we still need it before we become a great team, but it's low priority since we have to build the foundation first. Let's get the milk now...we can get the chocolate bar in a few years. I'm dumbfounded by what to make of Forte. I think you were far more critical of him last season. And it appears you were on to something. We all know the putrid OL is not helping the issue. But something indeed seems off about the young man's game right now. Maybe injury is lingering, maybe it's the old sophomore slump, maybe he's lost confidence...I don't know. But I'm not ready to cut bait unless we get a great offer. He's one of the expendables in my opinion.
  16. Ha! I hear you on Garza! I thought he was the weakest link, now he appears our biggest strength! The O line is suc a disaster...I wouldn't be shocked if a new regime came in and we see 5 new starters! That's a big "if" though... Yeah, the team has lacked a real leader since Mike Brown's departure. But, I think Urlacher oozes confidence that no one else on the team has. It's still by example as you mention, but it's a little more. An x factor. Briggs doesn't have it. It's been his to take, and he's not taken it. He's not a leader. Urlacher isn't a great one, especially compared to some other greats, but he's quite excellent considering certain alternatives. I follow what you're saying about Cutler and the O-line. And I feel that that is the #1 priority. But I do think a legit WR is somewhere on the list. Probably after D line and secondary... You last statment about lawyers is just spot on! And I think it does translate into "coaches" in football-speak!
  17. It's sn improvement. But isn't it too little too late? This team was yet again unprepared. Smith is just not the right man for the job.
  18. We're not properly staffed with players right now that can run the cover-2 w/ success, so I don' think that would matter. What you don't want, is the old out of the frying pan into the fire... We must all come to terms that we need to re-build. No band-aid can fix our woes now. The chickens have come home to roost... I certainly hope a new staff cleans house. What's in the house now is long past the stale date.
  19. Yeah, so far, Denver got the better end of the deal. But, fortunately, it's a marathon and not a sprint. I still think when it's all said and done, both teams will be happy with it evenly.
