  1. Here's some fuel PFT is trying to put on the fire...in their continuing segments on Cutler bashing. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/category/rumor-mill/ Cutler wants say in final roster Posted by Mike Florio on August 13, 2009 8:22 AM ET And so as the last quarterback who mistakenly believed that his job duties included the functions of a General Manager fades (we think) into the Mississippi sunset, a new candidate for player-executive emerges. Jay Cutler. Cutler, per the Arlington Daily Herald, intends to give his input on the team's final roster. "I think they're definitely going to ask me," Cuter said. "If they don't ask me, I'm going to tell them what I think because I've got to be the one throwing to them on game day, and I've got to trust them." Look, the extent to which the starting quarterback and his receivers work together has to be a significant factor in shaping the depth chart. But there's a line, somewhere, that the quarterback shouldn't try to cross. Publicly indicating that he intends to chime in on who should stay and who should go probably is on the other side of that line. And if the Bears don't nip this in the bud, it won't stop with Cutler telling the media that he plans to tell the coaches which guys should be turning in their playbooks. What if they keep someone he doesn't want? Will Cutler make his feelings known outside the organization? Or what if Cutler isn't happy with the offseason decisions that the franchise is making? Will he make like Lord Favre (and, to a certain extent, Donovan McNabb) and make his displeasure known? Caveat emptor, Chicago. We know you wanted him, but just how closely were the powers that be paying attention to how this guy was behaving as he was trying to get out of Denver?
  2. Rule #1, never buy a baseball jersey w/ a name unless they guy is already in the HoF! (Like Ernie Banks, or similar...) Yeah, I never thought Grossman would be the guy. I really thought A-Train would be though!
  3. OK, now this is just getting fun!!!
  4. Thank heavens he's second string... At least he can drop Hanie's passes instead of Cutler's.
  5. My only rule is that it has to be a player I feel will be either a hall of famer, a champion, or a noted player on the team. The only jersey I own that doesn't fit that is A-Train. I thought he'd be around much longer...
  6. twig, please to not curb free speech! I for one, would love to see where Grouchy recommends wallpaper from! I may not be able to use 'em, but t sure could be interesting searching!
  7. I never root for an injury... The Lions should be inept enough w/o injuries.
  8. You said it Terra! It's possible they may get good over the years, but I'm certianly not expecting it this year.
  9. Agreed. There's just not enough evidence to support this guy's statement.
  10. Detroit is simply one of those teams that I do not believe will be any good until they actually prove it. Arizona is like that on O. They finally proved it last year after years and years of people speculating how they would be good.
  11. More fluff before the games begin... Bronco's fans shouldn't be concerned. We hate all teams but one...
  12. Thanks for the info! I can't wait to pick it up!
  13. Yeah, I think you should be fine with that camera! Even if you can't check in early, I'm sure you can drop you luggages off w/ the bellhop/concierge. Soak it in!!!! I'll be doing the same when I go 10/4 for the Detroit game! Even though I've seen it numbers of times...I milk it for all it's worth and we're usually the last people leaving w/ security telling us to please exit already!
  14. Good point. Confidence goes a long way. Heck, much can be said for a lack of that w/ hester with his issues in the return game.
  15. I like that a lot Brian! I've always felt Kyle could be an amazing #2! He's perfect for the role. Smart, not mistake-prone, hold the fort until the star comes back...
  16. Cutler's got it all wrong! Chicago goes to Eleven!
  17. Fair enough. But, the key word I picked up on is the "past". I don't have a problem giving him a shot. I have issue with blessing him a starter because he was decent a few years ago. I personally would not give him the benefit of the doubt, whereas I think you are. That's really where we differ I think.
  18. I think you're not getting the full picture of what I'm agreeing with. You kept stating how reliable you thought the guy was. I disagree. I question his reliability completely. When balls hit him square in the hands and he drops easy 1st downs and TD's, that is simply not reliable no mattrer how you slice it. Nfo pointed out that Davis can be basically a great depth guy, and I agreed. but I do not want him blessed as our starter, thinking he's got great hands, over giving some of the other younger talet a shot. Hey, I'm not saying cut the guy. I just feel he needs to be knocked down a notch to back-up and let him earn his way back up.
  19. That works for me! I think depth for him is his key spot. And a little fear to keep his job can't hurt!
  20. I hear ya. The dog/penhouse thing may not be super applicable in this particular instance, but it still leaves me with far too many question on how this staff works these things out. Your analysis on Graham I think is spot on. There does do be some mentality that all the guys in the secondary can just be ambidexterious at any position (CB-FS-SS-nickel-dime,etc.) It seems like we hinder the development of many of these young guys by playing musical chairs. I truly wonder if D Manning would actually be a very good S right now, had we left him and let him develop a bit. We'll never know I suppose. I just hope it works out. But I have my doubts. Hoke seems to be getting a lot of props, but I don't really recall the Texans having the pinnacle of secondary strength in the league... But, I do believe Marinelli will make a diferrence, and a push from the front will help all layers of the D.
  21. All well and good, but it still doesn't quite explain the odd behavior of this staff to start certain guys over others. Maybe there are ghost practices we and the media aren't privvy to. It sure seems like a guy can get in Smith doghouse or his penthouse for some reason and remain there all season regardless of production or lack thereof. I am just waiting for some former player to need a book deal and let loose some gossip...
  22. I'm sorry, but dropping easy catches is simply not "reliable". He had his shot last year, time to give a different guy a shot. Then go back to him and see if he has something to offer if that doesn't work.
  23. Brad, I hear ya...but I am not rooting for Orton. I just wish him good health. I'll have a soft spot in my heart for ol' neckbeard, but I alo cracked up on this too!
