Nice write up! I impatiently await the answers to your questions!

All stats adise, and from plain old observation...do you really think Cutler's arm is not significantly better than Orton's? I love(d) Kyle (he's not longer a bear, so no more love...). He's the consummate team player. But he does not have the same skill set at Cutler. When you're looking at 30 yard passes, most these don't get completed. The key to the stat bug, is when are these passes getting completed? If it's garbage time or early in games, that's a different skew than if on 3rd's or the last play of the game. My point isn't stats...it's just plain old ability. And i think Cutler has tons of it and Orton does not. Will we find that maybe orton has more smarts? Maybe. I sure hope not... I think Cutler is a bonafide 100% NFL all-pro QB. Orton, is a game manager. He could get lucky and Dilfer/Brad Johnson his way into a Super Bowl win with someone...but those are the exceptions and not the rules.

Rod Hood In High Demand Posted by Mike Florio on May 20, 2009, 1:20 p.m. The Cardinals surprisingly released cornerback Rod Hood in the days after the draft. Hood’s base salary, coupled with his potential unwillingness to accept a reserve role, contributed to his ouster in Arizona. And he has since become a hot commodity. We’re told that he has received a contract offer from the Rams, and that he’ll next be visiting the Bears. Other teams in the mix include the Lions and Browns. The Bengals are out of the picture. Hood has a connection to Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo; they both previously were in Philly together.

Interesting...

Well presented nfo... I've kind of moved on. I figured that realistically, he's not in our plans this season at least. Now, even if next were an option, I'm not sure I want him. I would like to see how our youngsters perform w/ a bonafide QB at the helm. Maybe we'll all be pleasantly surprised. Or, maybe we'll all be clammoring for Burress!

Strong-side competition? Pisa Tinoisamoa to visit Bears
madlithuanian replied to Pixote's topic in Bearstalk
Here's hoping.... I think he'd be a fine addition. -
Poor Rex my @$$! Poor Chicago fans that had to endure his tenure here! I do give him "A" for effort, but he just wasn't a very good QB. Good luck to you Rex, you'll need it!

There's lots of truth to that... As they say, it's all won and lost in the trenches.

DING DING DING! You are 100% correct BigDaddy! Smith and his cronies need to prove they have learned from their mistakes...or it's time to show that JA has...
-
The Bears should always do their due dilligence. But I think from what most of us have read and are reading into this...it's not worth it. I'd rather use up a spot for Simeon Rice than this guy.

HA!!! I'd venture to say, right now, I make George Wendt look athletic!
-
Not true! I was just a crummy back-up QB that was bored and kicked w/ our kicker! But, I was officially back-up after the punter... McMahon was my idol! Unfortunatley I mimicked his drinking ability more than his on-field heroics!
-
My trajectory was preety low too... In fact, I'd line up 2 more yards back than normal, and it would help. Never got blocked though! Just missed a lot after 20! ...but it was never in a game situation. Only a so-so rush during practice on occassion.

I hear ya! My longest was 35... But 20 and in, I was 100%. My soccer leg helped! I was fullback and my job was to kick the ball up to the forwards or just as far as possible! I would have geekde put at the convention and missed a PAT!
-
Agreed! No need to hurry. And in all honesty, we could lose both at the end of the season and I don't think it would spell doom...
-
Awesome! I'm totally jealous! PS - I can make 20 yard FG's (no wind)! (Too many years playing soccer and a few holding for kickers as a back-up QB in HS allowed me to make a lot of tries!)
-
Not interested... We have good amount of unproven guys as is that have much higher upsides.
-
When I see it, I'll believe it! Although I loved Forte's effort last year. I just don't want to wear the kid down. We have an arm now, let's use it...

Nice analysis... I just keep thinking, could this be a blessing in disguise? We have no real #1...which means our opponents' can choose to target any random guy with their top coverage or double team. My guess is probably Hester. That leaves 3 other guys on your average passing play to get open. Olsen with a mis-match. Maybe Bennett with a nice route. Or maybe Iglesias with good hands. Also, possibly Forte out there too. That's a lot of good solid targets for Cutler. Nothing great per se (other than Olsen possibly). But is a situation better when you have a solid group or when you have one wonderchild and a lot of crud? It certainly puts a lot more on Cutler's choulders. But he strikes me as a guy that would rise to that challenge. We could very well have the most passing yards in the league...but with receptions spread amoung 6-7 guys. (With a little luck that Turner allows for it...) I think we're pretty much on the same page...
-
...add Cutler to that list! He'll get a deflection and run one in himself!
-
11-5? Are you crazy Wesson!? 16-0!!!!
-
I said we had have Cutler last year? Don't think so. In fact, check the history here... Nfo and I were both inferring last year would be a struggle and I went so far to call it a quasi re-build. My glass was half empty. Now, it's overfolwing!
-
I follow your logic. Makes sense to me...unless something oddly clicks real hard with one of the WR's.
-
I'm freaking geeked up for this season! I honestly do not know how I will be able to wait until August! WE HAVE CUTLER!!!!
-
I've got no problem there! In fact, very good idea on both.
