  1. Hey man! That was my feeble Pistols reference first! http://www.talkbears.com/forums/index.php?...art=#entry60101
  2. More info from the 2005 draft... "Nevermind the Bullocks...it's the Ex Saints" http://www.neworleansprofootball.com/04230...class05.html#40 40th Overall Selection - Second round Safety Josh Bullocks, Nebraska 6'0", 200 - LISTEN! - Interview Transcript Bullocks if a fast, very intelligent player with great playmaking skills. Not a super-speedster as he's not athletic enough to play cornerback, but is very quick and can match up in various defensive situations. Ran in the 4.5 range this offseason, including a pair of disappointing runs under 4.6 at the Combine. Did show excellent balls skills at the Combine. Bullocks had 13 career interceptions at Nebraska. He has a twin brother, Daniel, is also a safety with the Cornhuskers. Is not a big hitter, and after a spectacular sophomore season Bullocks had a less impressive junior year then left early before his season season. Saints head coach Jim Haslett admitted that Bullocks had a down year in 2004 but the rookie appears to be in a good situation to learn the pro game before being asked to play right away on defense. A Tennessee native, Bullocks ran track in high school and was a runningback who took handoffs from his brother. Saints Impact: Bullocks is a good value pick and was desired by the Dallas Cowboys. Not a need pick, because the Saints already have their safeties set for 2005 with Dwight Smith at free and Jay Bellamy at strong. Bullocks is a natural free safety. "Great ball skills," Jim Haslett said after the pick. "He's got the stature for a safety and obviously he can make plays because he's proven it in the past. We feel good about Dwight and Jay, whose had two good exceptional years in the past. I don't think you can have enough safeties. We'd like to carry five safeties if we could." Other Options: Tennessee LB Kevin Burnett, Georgia LB Odell Thurman, Virginia LB Darryl Blackstock, Florida LB Channing Crowder, LSU CB Corey Webster, USC LB Lofa Tatupu.
  3. I know very little of him, but here's his stats... http://www.nfl.com/players/joshbullocks/profile?id=BUL538299
  4. It took 6 days later... IS BEARS’ INACTIVITY DUE TO ECONOMICS? Posted by Aaron Wilson on March 11, 2009, 10:32 a.m. The Chicago Bears have been nearly dormant in free agency, and former NFL executive Pat Kirwan hinted that Bears General Manager Jerry Angelo is operating under tough financial restrictions. According to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Sun-Times, Kirwan said on Sirius NFL Radio that the Bears’ lack of free agent activity is due to ecomomic constraints. “This is not exactly the most generous spending team in the history of football,” Kirwan said. ”So he’s got restrictions and restraints, and he’s not going to [say], ‘Hey, I’m trying to sign this guy, but my owners won’t let me.’ So he is a little bit bound to his draft picks, where you’ve got to exhaust every opportunity to make that guy work before you surrender and try something else. ”He’s got too many issues where he can’t expose what he wants to do. And I’m not going to cite the one that we had a conversation with him about, but he was absolutely sick to his stomach that something might be going on that he couldn’t control because he didn’t have the cash to do it.” Angelo declined to comment, and a team source told the Sun-Times that restrictions on spending haven’t stopped the Bears from participating in free agency. During a recent interview with the Bears’ official Web site, Angelo explained why the Bears didn’t go after wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh. ”Would we have entertained him?” he said. ”Yes, but we wanted to see what his marketplace was. In this case, we felt like [the $40 million contract with $15 million guaranteed that Houshmandzadeh received from Seattle] was an exorbitant amount of money. Remember, he was a No.2 in Cincinnati. ”He’s going to be 32 in ‘09, and the price that you’re paying for that receiver we felt was very high. You have to look at economics when you look at players. Who doesn’t want Houshmandzadeh? But you have to look at the economics: What are the implications to the cap going forward, and what does that prevent us from doing in other areas within our team or free agency?”
  5. I'd say it's worth a consideration. It all depends who's been taken before...and who is still available. He appears to have some upside, so I'd be into looking closer at him.
  6. Thanks for the post Pix! Although it doesn't prevent my anxiety!
  7. I wouldn't even pull that in Madden while up by 40 points!
  8. Really, anything after R4 is fine by me... Before then and it's a luxery...like Wolfe was...
  9. I understand, but it's a bit too much of a luxery based on the many holes we need to fill. With Wolfe given a chance, and AP still on payroll...I think we can get through the season.
  10. Good. I means we don't need to draft RB...
  11. Thanks for that info! Yeah, I'd like a bonafide legit good FB! I don't think McKie is that...
  12. ...and so it continues. Thanks for the update Chile.
  13. Yeah, I hear you on the height issue...and slownees of the general OL. Although, if you could find a shorter TE...maybe it's worth tinkering with? Normally, that guy wouldn't probably even be drafted...but you take him as a FB project! It is fun to ponder these things though! If we all didn't share the same "If I Ran the Circus" DNA, we wouldn't be here!
  14. Would it be insane to look at an OL that's maybe a littler skinnier/faster than the average and convert him? Or maybe even look at a blocking TE...maybe even a guy like Davis? Sounds medden-esque, but doesn't an OL's (or TE with the addition of pass catching ability) past at OL pretty much give him a leg up? It's a guy that pushes forward to block for the run and drops back to protect the QB...he's just more out on an island than on the line...
  15. I would too! But, I think Karney would be an improvement at least.
  16. Interesting point... Not sure if I agree, but on the other hand, it sure makes some sense.
  17. You realise this is not the same TO, right? You know how many balls in crucial points he droppped? Even a coach, Sean Payton of the Saints straight out said it. Also, listening to Cowherd on ESPN driving into work this morning, meantioned the historical fall off of top tie WR's going into age 35... Tim Brown, Andre Reed, Ark Monk, Marvin harrison, Isaac Bruce...all significantly fell off once hitting 35. If it were to sell tickets, I'd understand. But we sell out anyway. You're right though, this team need to find a leader. Our previous one, Mike Brown is now gone. it will be interesting to see who, if any do step up.
  18. I'd certainly take Maulaluga in a heart-beat! Not sold on the CB, Jenkins. Smith, also worth consideration for sure.
  19. I honestly don't get that impression at all... We aren't looking for boy scouts. We want men. Representatives of this franchise. I honestly don't want a boat load of Ned Flanders' on our team! I'd rather have a bunch of Jimmy Mac's (with a better heath track record)! ...guys that give it their all on Sunday's and make those around them better. Guys that handle their business in the locker. Guys that don't cry...unless they just watched "Brian's Song". To some degree it matters what a guys does off the field. Obviously criminal activity, etc is not good. But so is behavior that disintegrates the team element. Like throwing every single QB you've played with uner the bus... We don't necessarily want angels, we want hard workers and team players. Keep in mind, TO dominated the field. Past tense. He now alligator arms too many passes and has too many drops. He's not what he was years ago. But, in the end, it's all just fun banter because the Bears won't do it.
  20. I follow... Sad indictment on the staff...
