I think we need an OL earlier, espcially how JA has done JS in FA.....but overall it works for me. I like Veikune as a potential dark horse...
-
Sage wasn't paid that much...really back-up money. Which is still seriously more than what we have invested in the position.
-
Just read on PFT...the Vikes are interested in him. Swell... That actaully really worries me.
-
Agreed. If this franchise truly wants a QB, we must get Cutler.... I just don't see it happening due to management ineptness.

Sieve- In general, a sieve separates wanted/desired elements from unwanted material using a tool such as a mesh, net or other filtration or distillation methods, but it is also used for classification of powders by particle size, or for size measurement as an analytical technique. The word "sift" derives from this term. A strainer is a type of sieve typically associated with separating liquids from solids.

Seems like a good move, not knowing the price yet though... I can't imagine it's a ton.

Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?
-
very true! Which is why I prefer him in Detroit!
-
I hate them becasue they caused us to lose the last game Walter ever played in...
-
So true... But I also think the "play for a contender"thing is also a smokescreen for guys still vying for the loot...
-
Amen! We don't have to be in the Haynesworth or even Housh cash bonanza derby...but it seems painfully obvious we should be looking at a good lot of these solid OL out there.
-
Jason, I too have the same concerns...
-
I wouldn't let you down!
-
Alright, now that he's not a Bear... Good! Now we're good for 2 multiple pick and fumble recovery games a year!

It happens once in a blue moon...usually on those months that don't end with 30 or 31 days. Oh I agree, it's certainly worth looking at. No stone should be left unturned. And if the real answer is that it's a red flag, I'm more than OK moving on...at least in the first round. No, I haven't. It honestly doesn't interest me all that much... As I have many other books I've been trying to read that have been collecting dust. But, here's some cheap info on it from the non-so-reliable wiki... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Oher

Sadly enough, your first 2 points are correct. Unfortunately, so might your third!

May I suggest moving his family to Chicago? I'm sure he could afford a nice house for them! I'm a bit with nfo here... There are character issues and then there's life. If this were Mike Tyson, I'd be a bit worried. This guy is not Mike Tyson. If he had arrests, hanging out with bad people, poor practice habits,etc...I'd pass. But from what I've read, those aren't issues. So he's a mama's boy...so was Otis Wilson!

I think I have a basic fear drafting WR's high... Too many seem like busts. Or projects that I fear this franchise has no clue how to develop. I'd somewhat rather err on the side of getting D...but it seems like we can indeed find D gems in the rough in later rounds. I guess I'm really approaching this as a complete by-stander. There's really no one near our slot that I feel that strongly about. I htink it'll depend on who falls... I've got a personal vibe on Laurinaitis that borders on irrational...but really, I truly want BPA with a lean on the O line... I just hope that whoever we get, they rock!
-
I follow... But I think one way to hedge is get one at least by the 2nd round. I guess we just differ how we'd hedge!
-
Man was I off!
-
I read that somewhere as well! And didn't get the answer either... Hype is just that. Some is justified, some is not. Laurinaitis isn't different than any other solid prospect coming out regardless of OSU's history. He's got as good of a chance of being a stud or dud as any LB in the draft. I've readily admitted to my personal bias... I won't begrudge him falling past us. ...unless we pick a stiff. This is just my personal Madden-esque dream pick. We all know about the sure things that bust, and the late rounders that become HoF'ers...and everything between. 'Tis the season to sepculate...where nothing is certain. And I just happen to like the guy... I'll send you my barf bag from last season when I hurled hearing Williams was our pick it goes down!
-
It's pricey, and I'm not a cap guy...but I think we could afford it.
-
I know...I'm on the pipe...but I'm super biassed. 1. I'm a Bear fan, so inherently, I love LB's... 2. Urlacher is showing signs of wear...I fear no replacement in the mix will mean utter doom 3. Laurinaitis has a good pedigree, from a good school, has won a ton of awards, has shown pretty good character, is supposedly a hard worker... 4. He's the son of the Road Warrior! 5. He's Lithuanian! 6. I'm Lithuanian! 7. Dick Butkus was Lithuanian! ...I'm just biassed. I really didn't groove on any of the other names in the 1st round. Had Oher or maybe a few other been up there, I'd have thought about it. i want OL bad...but I won't just take any...and I won't pass up a guy who I think will make a huge positive impact. It's not a glaring hole by any means. Right now. But I don't trust JA to do anything well for the right now. I'm thinking about having a solid core when the next regime hits town. I know I'm out on a limb...an fiully admit so. But, I'd pull that trigger if it were me, and all the board would probably blast me... Until 2 years when we have a dominant D again because of him! ...I'll put down the spiked kool-aid now.

A bit harsh...but entertaining. I will say this, Rex, thank you for the effort and the overall class you exuded. His only really failing in those depts were the GB game being unprepared, the mocking of the media as ignorant, and his lack of taking responsibility for the SB loss. otherwise, he was really a model citizen. Just not a good consistent QB... Thanks for the memories...at least there were some positives and a good storyline. I can't say that about a multitude of other boneheads that played the position for us.
