  1. Who knows... He certainly has some pedigree to be a HC. But, I need to see defensive improvement!
  2. Depending on how the rest of the season plays out, a complete house cleaning could happen. But, I think there's more fo a chance that a 1-15 season would result in more coaching changes than GM. After year 3...all bets are off.
  3. One possibility is that Pace is telling Fox anyone remotely injured gets shelved...tank the season. Doubt it though.
  4. Harsh. But, I can't disagree! I cam a glutton. For good BBW during Sundays and punishment watching the Bears. I will continue to watch, but only out of curiosity to see the young guys hopefully get better.
  5. Really well thought out AZ...I like your assessment. Some of my broad brush stroke thoughts mimic a lot of yous. GM - concerned. Wasn't before as I was giving him the benefit of the doubt. Now, Floyd and White can certainly still come through. But they need to be stars, not just guys. We've seen flashes. So, there is some hope. I really would like to see/need to see some development there...hence... Coaches - concerned. Wasn't before, other than potentially OC Loggains. Well, I am not concerned across the board. Loggains I think is completely a fail. He really has no history of ever being good, so the expectation isn't there. So far, Fox and Fangio have been very disappointing to say the least. However, their track record still gives them the benefit of the doubt this season. They are bereft of talent, but good coaches should be getting more out of this bunch than they are right now. Players - mixed bag. It's all over the map, from horribly disappointed (Massie, Leno, Cutler, Langford) to perennial injury worries (McPhee, Houston, Fuller) to development (White, Floyd) to current injury worries (Long, Trevathan, etc), to pleasant surprises (Hall, Amos, Bullard, Freeman, Howard). But we are simply lacking real talent and real stars. We need some. Soon.
  6. still 0-3... And he'd probably be hurt by now...

  9. The McCoy hope is very appealing...
  10. For OC, yes. For HC, not yet...
  11. That's awesome! Tell me he's needed and needs to suit back up!
  12. No argument w/ your argument... FYI - My comparison to McMahon was simply perception and fan/media bias related. Not actual talent level. The crux was that regardless of how or why, winning masks just about any potential "dislike" of a player.
  13. Irrelevant to his point... Cutler made his bed here, he's got to sleep in it. If it were McMahon, no one would mind and it'd have been entertaining. Winning allows for that... Look at what Brady and Rodgers can "get away with" as being emotional leaders when they throw their hissy fits... Winning solves everything. Yup, the organization did Jay no favors. But, even on days of good protection, good D, good WR play...he's shown the propensity to make bad decisions and to turn the ball over. I've been a supporter of Jay for years... But, I've seen enough. I can't be fooled anymore by the litany of excuses, some valid some not. If it's 7 years of just bad luck then so be it. Remove the curse. He's had a chance. The contract is virtually up w/ little ramifications next year. Find a trade partner. Get something.
  14. Fair enough. You think he's gotten an unfair run of it. I get it. I just don't agree. After 7 years here, fair shake or not...I don't see it happening with him. And I honestly don't care if the meatball fan-base hates him or The Chicago Trib or Sun Times gets on him... I see it in the games. You can say we squandered the opportunity with him and I think you're right. In his prime, this organization did him no favors. But, he's not getting any younger, and the organization still isn't doing him any favors. He needs specific help to make it happen. He's not going to get it until it's time for him to retire. I'd rather get someone else in there that can manage things while we find our OTs. Then, bring in the young gun. Only one coach made Jay manage...and that was Gase. He gone. Now, Jay is back to his old bad habits. Leopards rarely change their spots.
  15. Let's not get carried away...as tough as Jay is, he's missed his fair share of games.
  16. I'm sorry...but I just don't think it matters how the public responds. Any QB that is worth anything would look at this job as an opportunity. If you're good, you'll kick ass and be the best the Bears ever had. And not many have a choice...you go where you're drafted barring the rare exception of a Eli or Bosa...and he's in SD. Will we land another good FA? Yeah. Money talks. We aren't bringing in young talent and we seem to not be able to develop anyone no matter the regime since Ditka/Ryan... Maybe a Small amount from Smith...or were Url, Mike Brown et al just badasses?
  17. If we can get a trade for him...that would be sweet. Agreed on McPhee...while I get the frustration (especially at the moment...and as a fan I initially loved it, but after re-thinking it, not so much), it shows lack of class. Especially a guy sitting on the side in street clothes...
  18. It's a results game...and we've not seen much good results. Career, he's .500. That is exactly who he is. I want better. If we don't give someone else a shot, we will be stuck with more of the same. Yup, it could get worse. But, at least we'll get a top 5 draft pick... He's had every possible excuse in the world to rationalize why he isn't getting it done. We know...the OL, the coaching, the WR's, the night games, the diabetes, the lack of national media respect, the lack of Honey Bears, the historical bad D, some players and coaches just not liking him for no good reason... It's just time... He could probably rock it in NE. But, given our situation...he will not get it done here. If he were 5 years younger and could wait 3 more years...maybe. But, we don't have that. We need a general behind center that can manage the game whle we find a true franchise QB. We need a McCown or Orton right now... Then, we can roll the dice and try to finally get lucky.
  19. No. But bad decision making and lack of keeping care of the ball are on him... Look, it's been 7 years. He's played behind better lines of ours and with better WR's...and he still makes mistakes, turns the ball over and can't be consistent. He's had every opportunity to be better. He has not. He did better last year...but we still didn't move the ball all that well and lost more games than won. Given his age, and the lack of salary cap penalty...it's simply time to move on after this season barring the extremely improbable...
  20. They have been lucky...or sold their souls as I suspect...but they also do draft QB's on a regular basis...I think Matt Flynn and others. One can only hope they don't luck into another HOF QB... I agree on the organization, but I really don't care what the fans do. These guys are paid a boat ton of loot to perform. And if they can't hand;e the moaning form the peanut gallery, they aren't worthy of the job. You know what shuts up the peanut gallery? Good performance. Cutler has been divisive since day one. Ask any Bronco fan that was happy to see him go. Yes, Chicago (as a media and fan base) has been tough on guys... McMahon - no Tomczak - yes Flutie - yes Harbaugh - yes Steve Walsh - not so much Erik Kramer - not so much Dave Krieg - yes Rick Mirer - yes McNown - yes Jim Miller - no Kordell - yes Chris Chandler - yes Gorssman - yes Orton - yes and no Cutler - yes From Jimmy Mac to Cutler, only Walsh, Kramer, Miller and somewhat Orton didn't get the full court press of negativity. Surprisingly, they are also the only ones in the group that did anything. We bitch and moan because there's reason to... You did definitely make sense...but Cutler brings a lot of that on himself. For a while, I liked it. The rebel! Root for the guy getting the short end of the stick in the media (especially national)... But, sadly the nay-sayers have been right all along. It's not that he's pouty. It's not that he's not tough. It's not that he's not a great leader. It's that he keeps turning the ball over and making mistakes. For every good game, he has a bad. You need to win at minimum three games in a row against good to great opponents to win the SB. I'm sure Cutler has even put together 3 wins in a row against fair opponents... I get it your point, and I was pretty much there with you. But, at year 7...I think the nay sayers are right.
  21. I think you're generally right. I have been a defender of Cutler...Alaska and I had many an argument over it. But, I just think it's time to call it... Let's also be honest in that since Jim McMahon...our #1 guys have left much to be desired all the while GB keeps getting one after another. Blame who is drafting. Not the fans who have to suffer through those bad decisions... Trying to be as objective as possible...Cutler is average. He looks great, then looks awful. That won't cut it. Since 2009, he's had a chance to deliver the goods. That's almost 7 years. I think that's enough of a chance...
