Henceforth my attraction to Ryan as our DC... Apples don't fall too far from trees, and any coaches Smith likes I'm weary of... I hear ya...
-
Why is it I'm drawn to Ryan...?

Moss was had for far less... I'd say a #2 might be able to get him and I'd say that's worth it. Or maybe trade our first and get their #2...something other than just losing a 1st. The possibilities are endless...including trading Ogun or other players...

WILLIAMSES - Out of the woods...for a week?

We agree and disagree... Really? I could swear I read that somewhere the league highly discourages the use of suppliments. But, I can't find it, so I'm probably wrong. Then, I'd agree with you that they should. I see working in the NFL as a privelidge, not a right. You adhere to the rules or no. If you do not like the rules, maybe Arena, the new UFL (or whatever it's called) or Canada can work. One may be able to take the league to task for setting players up to fail by not fully disclosing info they had... But I thought I read that they had given the NFLPA the info to distribute... Regardless, lawyers will have a field day. If you ran the show, I'd have no problem with your verdict... -
...don't take the bait. But, actually, we were losing that game until Rex came in. I credit Forte far more than Rex...but that's the mold you would ever want Rex (and I dislike him big time). JUst coming off the bench...never the starter.

Easier isn't always good, but it is easier... I think all of us think of the Jim Miller thing when this stuff comes up. He's the least likely to be using a thing! I guess I follow the edict of a player is respnsible for what goes into their bodies. That is the rule first and foremost... Everything else, in my mind is superfluous... In the instance of the 2 guys calling the league...there may be some ground to over-turn, but unless the league specifically said, go ahead and take it, I still fault the players. Even if the league is being sneaky trying to nail players, then so be it. Is that not the cost of playing in the league. If you are not 100% sure, don't do it. The league basically says not to take suppliments...those that do, simply run some risk. No one here is getting fired, etc.. But they will get substantial punishment. In the end, none of the guys nabbed are gong to the SB...their teams aren't good enough to compete with the upper echelon. I kind of think tough cookies... Jim Miller paid the price, why should these guys skate? -

Agreed. But maybe these guys were taking that to mask something... I suppose it's easier in the long run to lay a blanket edict down than say each item is up in the air. -
But in his defense, it was the best Grossman played in eons...

I can't say you're wrong at all... I think Jax is a tad batter than their record, and let's not forget 3 of their 4 wins have come on the road. The seem to play better away where the pressure's less. I guess my glass is just half empty thanks to the team's heartless performances recently... The lustre has worn off for any real hope for this season. We could still eek into the playoffs only to be bounced out like a 16 year old at a bar... I'll just sit back and watch it unfold and hope for the best. At least Forte has given me reason to watch. I truly enjoy watching him play.

In the same token, how can you pick the Bears? We've come close to collapsing ourselves. We had something to play for agasint GB and MIN, and that didn't seem to matter. Basically, until they prove otherswise, I don't think we can beat a mediocre team in this league right now. We've proven we can beat awful ones like Dertoit and St. Louis (with Min at home a game we should have lost and Indy and Philly when they were hurting badly). But when a team similar to us, plays us, I don't think it'll be a cake-walk. Both teams should have some pride... We'll see on Sunday who has more. I heart hopes it's the Bears, but logic is telling me different...

Hey, I hope your'e right. And what's our pass offense? It's 21st. Not all that... We're only 14th rushing... Better, but only run of the mill. It's actually a pretty close match-up on paper. I think it'll come down to heart...and I don't see our Bears with much heart right now. I hope I'm wrong...

Bears 17 - Jags 24 It is a game we should win, but coaching staff will not have the team ready to do so...

I think it's even simpler.... The judge gets elected by Vikings fans... He'll play ball and put a wrench in the maching if it means he'll get re-elected as the judge "Who tried to help the Williamses". -
I had heard the same about Rivera somewhere as well. Excellent analogy BTW!

Too darn funny! Too darn true...

JUDGE RULES IN FAVOR OF WILLIAMS AND WILLIAMS Posted by Michael David Smith on December 3, 2008, 7:28 p.m. Minnesota Vikings defensive tackles Pat Williams and Kevin Williams have won a big victory in their efforts to avoid being suspended by the National Football League KSTP-TV in Minneapolis is reporting that Judge Gary Larson has issued a temporary restraining order against the NFL. That means, for now, that Williams and Williams should be allowed to play Sunday. The Williamses said they were heading straight from the courthouse to the Vikings’ practice facility. However, this is far from over. KSTP reports that another hearing is expected in the next few days.

While no one has specifically mentioned the small college aspect you mention, many did mention the motivation/passion element that is sorely lacking. Good points on the lack of pro playing experience... I figure it plays a factor, if not large factor. I think nfo has mentioned on numerous occassions, that Smith was never that great of a DC.. He relied on trunovers while the offensive juggernaught of the Warner Rams kept racking up points. And when oddly matched agasint a better mastermind in the SB, lost even with that team.
-
Champ Bailey's the only guy that comes to mind, and he's lost a step...
-
I'm with you on that nfo... I'm hoping for the best, but fearing the worst... let's not forget Benson was a beast in college and once he got to the pros, he fell apart physically and mentally.

Interesting takes BigDaddy! I'm pretty much in agreement... I'm not so sure about the short term solutions...but I'd be willing to try them vs what we've been doing! I'd like to see Tillman moved to saftey to add to your list...

Mongo, you and I are are definitley on the same page!

Besides the Minny DT's send to their room w/o dinner, there's at least one more break!

Let's just hope JA filled in all the right boxes this time!
