It speaks for itself... And that is that Rex is great!
-
Yeah... It just seems to me that teams that rely on the turnover are a tease. It pretty much means if you don't get a few turnovers, you'll lose. Seems to me we're are too reliant on the turnover... Don't get me wrong, it's great when it happens. But if it's expected, it usually spells trouble. I think the key is to have a defense that can hold teams to under 20...and we can't do that.

I do realize that...don't get me wrong. I know they aren't playing "according to Hoyle" prevent. I mean more in philosophy. It just seems that whatever hybrid of the cover 2 we are playing, the results are similar to a prevent defense...other than stopping the run. Opponents are just passing silly on us short to med...

I'm not disecting the details of what's going on, but looking at it as a broad brush stroke. I don't think the Titans had a pass over 20 yards last Sunday. Could it be, we're employing the "bend don't break" philosophy and are actually bending and breaking? I just swear, we're giving up everything in front and nothing in back...and to me that screams "prevent". Which we all know prevents winning...

Interesting take... Hadn't thought of that...

Rinse, repeat.

The pick was his fault. Booker was covered tight and Rex did his usual back-pedal and sling a duck routine...
-
All rejoice!

Wow...if he's seeing that. What the heck are the coaches doing with this game film they keep telling they are looking at? Wow... Thanks for the post.

What about having Lovie call defensive plays?

I'm with you on that... -
Agreed.

Smith has had more talent around him. Yes, Sanders was huge for them, but they had nothing else really. Smith has a lot more pieces to play with. But I do digress...my point isn't that they are so similar as coaches, but that in an overall sense...neither were very good and yet are good enough for people to want to keep giving them a chance. The verdict is still out on Lovie I will admit...but I do not like what I am seeing. His success in STL cames with a super power offense and never really stopped anyone. They relied on turnvers. It's somewhat the same now, except we aren't getting tunrovers. Turnovers are nice, but you must stop people. And not fall victim to the same things continually. Lovie has not shown me he can adjust. And in fact, when given the authority to make decisions (ie. bring in BBF Babich, he has failed). I know he will be with the team at least another year. I just know that's how the club works. But, I won't be happy about it. Not that it matters. I'll still watch and cheer 'em on...but I know what we are dealing with now. And I won't be conned again.

I agree... If it is the CB's fault, then you don't keep telling them to fix it...you adjust your scheme to help the CB's and stop the snowball effect.

Ha! It is a bit dry at the moment! I'm really OK with our O, it's the D that's significantly troubling...
-
Let me add a wildcard... I'd be Ok with Martyball. It really is almost a perfect fit for us. We claim to be a running and defensive team. It's low-risk football. He always seems to have his teams in the playoffs...maybe his last stand gets him to the promised land?

I'll play! Cowher fist. I want a proven leader and someone that knows how to be a HC. He's big money and would want big control. It would also probably mean Angelo's ousting, but I can live with that. I'd go with Toub next. While his units haven't been the glory hounds they've been in the past...I'm willing to cut him some slack. If we are going with a true young star, I could go with Toub w/ reservation. I wouldn't hire any Turner let alone Ron. He has not shown enough common sense in his second tenure here.

Please keep us posted when you see a "wise coach" on the Bears' sidelines!

NO, I wouldn't fire Lovie now, I'd give him until season's end. He deserves that much. Agreed on Babich!

Thanks for the feedback nfo! Well, thought out... Although I think you're letting the D off too easy on item 2. I'd say not expecting the huge pass day from Collins would be acceptable if it didn't happen so many times already this season. Matt Ryan did it, Brian Griese did it, Orlovsky did it...etc. It's the same in week in week out. We do a good job on the run and then get killed in the air. And I couldn't agree more on your comment about no adjustments... Even if the team does go in chocked that a team is passing on us...how do you not change plans at the half to stop what everyone else can see? This coaching staff is mind boggling.

OK, what we're seeing on this team is what many of us have been prognosticating for a while now. 1. Rex is not as good as Orton. But I don't fault him for the loss yesterday. He can only do what he can. This staff should have seen that floor and made moves accordingly running the ball more and taking the ball out of Rex's hands. 2. To say our D is piss poor, isn't fair to piss. I'll get into details, but the bottom line is this defense is awful. We're like the Pat's in SBXX. Doing everything we can to stop the run...at all costs. Thus, giving any QB we face everything they want. Time, options, birthday gifts, Christmas cards, free gasoline... 3. Babich is not an NFL coordinator. He cannot figure this out. Whether it's Zombie Smith forcing his hand and not standing up to it, or being solely responsible for the planning & scheming, it is clear that he is not a pro. He should be fired right now. However, what should happen within the realm of possibilities is that Lovie takes the reigns over completely...and then bounces Bobby B at the end of the season. This time, not tealling us to trust him. THis time, it's obvious. 4. Zombie Smith's time is over. I've been all over him for a while, but it's painfully obvious his team is losing respect for him. Smith should coach the rest of the season, and if we get more of the same, he should be fired. But, again, in reality world, and given his contract, he'll be given yet one more season to continue to stay the course and look for one dim flicker amoung a thousand points of light. He's good enough and has good enough talent to keep retaining a job like Wayne Fontes did for so many years in Detoit. Yep, that's what we have folks. Wayne Fontes. Good enough to keep a job, not good enough to do much else. 5. Our over-paid players. These whining babbies need to put up. From Harris to Urlacher to Vasher (to Hester)...these guys are not getting it done. And yes, please see #3's & 4, that hinder their productivity. But, at some point they need to do something! Even a broken clock is right twice a day, and theese guys I don't think have had a sack all year! (I know, they have, but I'm on a roll...) Overall, these over-paid players are full of lip service. Call out the coaches then! We know there are ways to do it without really doing it. Sorry, but as much as I respect a guy who keeps his business in the locker, I also respect a player who tells the truth and wants better for the fans. Now, here's the good... A. Forte! Love this kid! I was not high on him in the draft, and boy was I wrong! I was a Mendy guy... But, know full well my plate of c row is grilled with Sweet Baby Ray's and tastes great! B. Orton has shown hew is a starting QB in this league! It's been fun watching him grow as a player these past week. HTe injury is unofruntate, but dang, it looks like we have something to hope for. C. The O line is not nearly the train wreck I expected. We still need to build on it for the future, but kudos for keeping it together. D. Olson. He's turning into a fine TE. Here's the indifferent... i. WR's. We seem to be doing well enough. No one's really fantastic, but we don't seem to have a lot of dead weight either. That's it...sorry, I just needed to get this out of my system.

I wish he were...but I agree with your assessment. That's like 3 for 3 nfo! Gotta be a record!
-
I just "trust" our staff because I was told to.
-
Great, we Have GHW Bush leading our team...
-
Agreed. The players are losing RESPECT for Lovie... Dangerous territory.
