I could not agree more... I'm literally speachless on this D and coaching staff. At least today.
-
Call me crazy...but go with Hanie. If he sucks, then put in Grossman. Grossman has at least of late, done better coming in than starting.
-
Orton is not a HOF'er at the moment. But he is a capable starting NFL QB.
-
Now how about getting rid of the Orwellian wiretapping BS...
-
Nope. But does it hurt? At least someone's showing some emotion other than being upset over boo's...

I'm pretty much in agreement. I think I only have a 10 oz glass of kkol-aid though! For a few games this season, like the Detroit game last week and the Minny game in particular...I've been labeling those as trap games. Games we should win, but we may be looking past them. Thankfully, we came out alright. But I think this time around the tables are turned. We are the trap game for TEN. Here they come with their undefeated record, with their strong running game, with their solid D, against a Bears team that's lost it's identity on D, that lost it's promising QB to a potential trunover machine... What do you think the odds are they are looking a little bit forward? To divison rival JAX next week? Not saying it'll go down as a Bears win. Just sayin'...

Chile, your question is one for the record books for this season!
-
Wow. Isn't that a telling line? Babich/Lovie do not have this group inspired as of yet.
-
Fully agreed. Acknowedgement is the first step... But execution is the next. Talk is cheap. Deeds not words.

He's getting old...he probably meant to say he knows how to get Fins laid... He's got a way with the Norse women apparently!

To play somewhat of a devil's advocate... Is it time to bench the dead weight? Do we start the following? LE - Idonije over Wale? DT1 - Harrison over Harris? DT2 - Adams over Dusty? RE - Alex Brown, he's still playing at an all-pro level SLB - McClover over Hilly? MLB - Roach over Url? WLB - Briggs, he's playing at an all-pro level CB1 - Graham over Tillman? But, given that Tillman's had a few good games, I could see starting him CB2 - McBride over Vasher? SS - Payne - while not playing at an all-pro level yet, he's playing well FS - Manning/Steltz over Brown? Would this put a scare into our under-acheiving big money husters? I'm not sure I'd try this in all honesty...but maybe in a couple positions. Empty calorie food for thought...

Url really had his greatest success under Jauron...where the 2 big boys in the middle just stuffed it and he was able to improvise. Since moving to cover 2, he's had more impact batting balls and picking off QB's than sacking and getting pressure. I think it's been a steady decline under the cover 2 for Url. Let's remember who the std was in cover 2 in Tampa...Brooks. That's Briggs' spot in Chicago, nor Urlacher.

The great talent is where is "should be"...Harris, Urlacher, Wale, and Brown. For Harris and Brown, let's say injury. I'm nost sure what gives with Wale and Urlacher. They should be playing better...and I fault both the players and the coaching. I do follow a bit where you are going...you're basically saying these guys have been over-rated from the get-go. But, I just don't buy it really. In all honesty, every NFL team could use 2 more impact players... But good teams and coaches figure out how to get more out of less than some. I think we have a staff that gets less out of more, than more out of less.
-
Tough question. My heart tells me Steltz, but I think Manning should start. He's had more reps,etc... But I would like to see a roation and get Steltz in there. In all honesty, I think you could make a case for either 3...

These guys have the ability and have shown it in the past. Sure, one or two guys may have lost a step or are injured. But all of them? You're basically saying all our players all of a sudden got old, weak and slow the moment Babich took over? Because this same thing was going on all of last year too... It's just the O wasn't nearly as good, and Hester was still an impact. I'd love to see Buddy ball back... And if we still suck, then I guess we need to rid ourselves of the entire defense, which we've poured over 44% of our entire cap into...

Thanks for the head's up!

Fair enough...

However you read into it...it's good!

Maybe I wrote it oddly... If you're DE's are having a jailbreak every play agasint OT's, odds are OG's will come in and help, thus making it a little easier for DT's to get pressure. I guess I'll have to re-wactch whenever NFL films plays something of an old game. I recall some great plays, but I don't recall the constant push you speak of. You very well may be right that Tank is getting more push than Dusty/Harrison. But I also don't see Wale and Brown doing nearly the same as they did years ago as well. It's all part of the equation. It's a team game. And say what you will of Tommie, he was a beast a few years back. Now, he's a shell of his former self. That holds a greater impact than anything I think. Not sure if it's injury,etc...but it is certainly impacting this D negatively. I only bring up Dallas because I do not feel that this D is the same one implemented by Rivera. Thus, you can't make the 100% comparison. I think we're arguing in circles here. You feel Tank is significanly better than Dusty/Harrison and if still around, would have this D performing significantly better. I just don't see that. I feel it's how ALL the D is being used by the coaches. While I'm more than happy to give you your idea that Tank got more push, I just don't see that as the crux of the reason of this defense's downward slide to mediocrity.
-
Do you really think the situations are the same? You even mention in an earlier post how he's not being used the same by Dallas. If your ends are getting pressure, don't your guards then move into help a bit, thus opening things up for the DT's? Our ends are not getting any real pressure and I believe that is due to how they are being used. Again, I just don't buy your overall arguement that not having Tank is why we are in the bottom of efensies now compared to being in the top of defenses previously...

OK. Let's first start by saying that I'm by no means giving all our players a pass on this. They do need to step up. However, I do not feel they are being utilized to their fullest extent. Just bull rushing every down does not make a good DT scheme. You need to mix things up. And also, what the DE's and some of the LB's do, also dictate what the DT's are able to do... It's all part of the package. It's virtually impossible to just straight compare the impact of one DT over another without looking at everything around him. Overall, Babich does not seem to be calling plays correctly. Yes, he's had some success and certainly did better in the 2nd half last week...AGAINST THE WORST TEAM IN THE NFL! What the F was the 1st half about? So, our ineptness is the sole problem of Dusty and Harrison? And having soon to be Hall of Famer, Tank Johnson, would just solve it? Please... The DB's playing off the line makes a big difference. If the QB can release the ball quickly to an open WR 5 yards down the field, then the DT's can't do a thing. I'm not saying we need to go bump and run 24-7, but we need to do something to prevent these gimme slants that have been killing us all year. However, my comments wasn't really 100% related to DT pressure...it was more an indictment on the coaching staff F'ing up the defense in yet another area... Guys can play off the WR, but let's not give them a gimme 6 yards every play. But your last comment pretty much falls in line of where I was going with the DB issue...
-
KGB would be interesting...especially given that we many need all the extra little help in the next 2 weeks playing them.
-
A broken lcock is right 2 times a day. We have enough talent to make up for some of the negatives of our schemes. Plus, teams are taking Urlacher out of the mix, thus giving Briggs more chances to make plays. And thankfully, Briggs is naking the most of some of those opportunities. I don't think Url is done either. I just think he's not being utilized ot his fullest extent possible. I think the coaching needs upgrading....
-
I'm confused... It's OK for Urlacher to act like a jerk, but not OK for paying fans to act like jerks?
