  1. A wonderful historic night for America! Hail to the Chief!
  2. Bottom line, any player not delivering results or really apparent effort deserves to be ripped. And if it's the coaches holding you back, say it. We know all players have their way of saying it without really saying it. This defense overall deserves to be ripped. They need to earn their freakin' paychecks. If not, they should donate part of their salaries to charity and some more deserving people.
  3. Good post. I tend to agree. I think the key element boils down to if we have a bonafide QB in Orton. If we do, we can definitley build on that. And I think we do. I went into this year thinking it would be a quasi re-build. Kind of a "see what we have" year. Well, what we have is pretty decent. I think we can definitely build on it for years to come.
  4. Congrats bowlingtwig! I hate tie breakers!
  5. We're the Bears. It is sexpected of us to suck at QB. Until we see the aseason out and prove otherwise, all the pundits will still keep thining that. And having Rex back in there, has added more fuel to that fire justly or not.
  6. But didn't both of them get TD's and not Forte?
  7. He's got some tough competition... I say it probably goes to Johnson or Hightower this week...
  8. Great points! I swear, so much of our woes are due to the schemes or lack thereof...
  9. Bad analogy. I had forgot Tank was suspended or didn't play. Even with that, the stats are still not overwhelming. Why don't you ask how Tank did that under Rivera's team and not under Dallas? Could it be the scheme and talent around him? You talk of spin, and you're beyond guilty of it. The sack stats are skewed as nfo pointed out earlier. There's lies, damn lies and statistics...and I'm sorry, Tank ain't better than sliced bread. Follow the other common denominator please...ie. Rivera/Babich. Or maybe it was Benson? Please...Tanks is not the second coming of Mongo.
  10. I'll speak up... And I think you may be right. I sure hope you aren't, but I fear you are correct. Maybe my glasses were too rosey-hued. I still think he can make a big impact and would do so under a better DC... But, I admit, I am worried.
  11. Lucky, I guess we'll just agree to disagree. Tank's a decent DT, but not the central key to the Bears success for the years leading up to/and the Super Bowl. I just don't see it in the least. I won't be culling through 24 games as I don't have anything on film to try to prove the point of less stunting by Babich's crew. But, I just know what I see during a game, and I see very little from Babich compared to Rviera. Yep, it's possible my memory fails me... But, in contrast, please feel free to show me that Babich has indeed done as much or more stunting than Rivera's crew... In addition, I also see DB's playing far more away from WR's under Babich. Again, it's from observing games at game speed. I do not have access to film or Tivo'ed games, nor the time to prove that beyond a shadow of a doubt. Just my observation. Feel free to discard it if you wish since I do not have 100% according to Hoyle empirical evidence.
  12. I'll take the cigar, but only if it's Cuban. Anyway, you're comparisons are off...you can't quite compare exacts...but if you want, look at Tanks 2006 v Dusty's current. First, divide Tank's in 2, since we're only half way through this current season with Dusty. That's Tank 13 tackles, 1.75 sacks, 1/2 a saftey, and 1/2 a PD That's Dusty 22 tackles, 0 sacks, however, nfo just mentioned that Dusty has 2 PD's. I'd say that's about even. If not advantage Dusty. Neither is that much bigger a contributor than the other. Time to slueth out a different hypothesis...
  13. Oh, I agree, that group should have won far more SB's! It was bad decision one after another after that big victory.

  15. Tank is not an elite DT. I don't think Dusty is either at this point. But there is not a gap the size of the Grand Canyon beetween the 2 of them. Saying the Bears D is struggling this year because we don't have Tank Johnson is an enormous stretch. I agree with nfo, the common denominator is Rivera. And while he worked within the cover 2, he manipluated it far more, even using a 46 every now and then. He also had his guys stunting,etc...
  16. But I think he was a good head coach, it's just once he lost very good coordinators and a GM, he struggled. At least that's how I'll remember it!
  17. I think we do. I wouldn't bet on it, but we have a chance. Here's why... 1. Bears O v Titans D. THey should nullify Forte a bit, but we should have some success having him come out of the backfield. They'll pressure the hell out of Rex...but if Rex can get a few early passes off deep, then we could dink n dunk and be OK. 2. Bears D v Titans O. They are a running team, and we seem to be able to stop the run pretty well. Collins hasn't been asked of much, and he will on Sunday. If we are out of hibernation, we could get in his grill. 3. ST - Does hester awaken? If all those 3 things happen, we could steal this game...or more so, even earn it. But, the opposite could happen. Yea, my stomach did turn...in fact I almost wept like a 3 year old school girl...thankfully, looking at Forte on the sidelines was I able to pull myself together!
  18. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...0,2053631.story After tests, Orton told he'll miss 3-4 weeks By Vaughn McClure | Tribune staff reporter 6:43 PM CST, November 3, 2008 After undergoing a series of tests Monday, Bears quarterback Kyle Orton was told he would miss three to four weeks, according to an NFL source. "The MRI revealed no ligament tear," according to the source. Coach Lovie Smith would not reveal Orton's status during a Monday news conference, saying only that his quarterback was scheduled to take more tests. Orton will miss Sunday's game against undefeated Tennessee but could return in time to face Minnesota on Nov. 30.
  19. I hear ya...but I'm trying to temper that with stuff I've read (from non-reliable sources) that he was jogging lightly today and could 5 step drop, but with pain... I figure the truth lies somewhere in between! Early in the season, I'd have been OK with that! Now, I may be thinking vet might ber better! But, nothing ventured, nothing gained!
  20. He could have been spiking the ball for charity... But odds are that was a frustration spike to prove all the nay-sayers wrong. And I also say, good for him. I'm all for it. As long as it's him spiking the ball after a TD and not a defender after a pick 6... I thnk the criticism is nit-picky. But, as much as Grossman has the right to spike, commentators have the right to call the move childish, etc... As many may know, I prefer a fire under my players/coaches, so Rex can spike that ball anytime he scores in my book.
