Nor did I...thankfully the youngsters look up to the challenge.

Neither candidate really did a a thing. Biden kept his cool and only attacked McCain. Palin, rarely answered the question and instead read prepared little speaches on every subject making her look better than in interviews with Katie Couric. Overall, I think Biden did kind of win...but he didn't blow her out the water. Personally, I felt about zero sincerity from Palin...but I'm sure those that were already fans, liked the preformance. Overall...a draw.

Agreed! Thanks for posting!

Nothing would surprise me. We all generally know those who come off as "holier than thou" usually aren't...

HARRIS WAS LATE FOR A MEETING AND TREATMENT Posted by Mike Florio on October 2, 2008, 6:31 p.m. Bears defensive tackle Tommie Harris will miss Sunday’s game against the Bears due to a one-game suspension. The suspension, we’re told, arises from a failure by Harris to arrive on time for a meeting, and also a failure to show up on time for a treatment session on his injured knee. His contract contains a roster bonus that is tied to participating in 74 percent of the defensive snaps or making the Pro Bowl. So the missed game necessarily reduces his ability to meet the trigger by 1/16th. That said, it’s our understanding that Harris was expected to mis Sunday’s game, due to his knee injury. from PFT... http://www.profootballtalk.com/category/rumor-mill/

I hear ya. I want to know more as well. I think we're fine withoput him for another week. The other DT's played really well, and I'd rather him still sit if he's not 100%. But this is a really disappointing development...

I'm concerned about overconfidence... I hope the players and staff rise above.

You never did. I recall you somewhat agreed with me that this team was in "quasi-rebuilding" mode. You look at the turnover at RB (new), QB (new-ish, but knows system), WR (mostly new, or newly starting), and the O line(some new, but knew system)...and it would seem pretty obvious. That isn't a complete re-boot by any means...but it sure is a significant change.
-
1. I kind of doubt it. It's been going on for too many years to take too seriously. The fact that this team hasn't won 2 games in a row should be motivation enough. 2. MOST DEFINITELY! What WR isn't some kind of freak? THis guy can catch... He is a top notch talent I think.

True enough...

Agreed...Graham doesn't have the hieght and wingspan of Tillman.
-
They have some good receivers and 2 times a year, Kitna does have banner games. It's how they keep justifying having him in there... If we were missing all those guys, they'd exploit the heck out of it. As much ar Roy has a dumb mouth, he has got far better hands... I'm far more concerned about our D than our O for this game. Det's D is nothing compared to the 3 teams we just played... Whereas their O can light it up on occassion...and maybe especially after preparing for 2 weeks.
-
Losing both is bad, but I'd rather have Tillman back if I had to choose one. He's much taller on the WR's than Graham... I think our other WR's should be able to step it up as the Detroit D isn't that great.

I couldn't have said it better Chile!
-
Good for him. ...and at least in the AFC in case he actually is able to turn the corner with a staff that gives him a chance.
-
Agreed!
-
I was willing to go 4...I felt as though he was a sure thing. But, I would have much preferred a trade down! And I think it could have happened.
-
Indeed! Although I do hate to slam the door shut on a young man's career because of injury... I hope he bounces back, he is an Illini after all...
-
Not true...nfo and I wanted Derrick Johnson.

Angleo came onto the team in 2001 after Hatley's last draft... http://www.bearshistory.com/seasons/2001chicagobears.aspx http://www.nfl.com/draft/history/fulldraft...0&type=team Urlacher and Mike Brown were Hatley picks in 2000. Seems to me there are lots of hits and misses. The hits seem to be on D, but there are too many top pick misses. 2008 - Chicago Bears 4 good, one suspect, 2 not looking good, the rest are off the team Rd Sel # Player Position School 1 14 Chris Williams OT Vanderbilt - jury's not out 2 44 Matt Forte RB Tulane - Rockin! 3 70 Earl Bennett WR Vanderbilt - jury's not out 3 90 Marcus Harrison DT Arkansas - looks good 4 120 Craig Steltz SAF Louisiana State - looks not so good 5 142 Zack Bowman CB Nebraska - looks not so good 5 158 Kellen Davis TE Michigan State - looks good 7 208 Ervin Baldwin DE Michigan State - n/a 7 222 Chester Adams G Georgia - n/a 7 243 Joey LaRocque LB Oregon State - Seems good 7 247 Kirk Barton T Ohio State - let him go 7 248 Marcus Monk WR Arkansas - let him go 2007 - Chicago Bears 4 good, 3 gone, 1 suspect Rd Sel # Player Position School 1 31 Greg Olsen TE Miami (Fla.) - good 2 62 Dan Bazuin DE Central Michigan - gone 3 93 Garrett Wolfe RB Northern Illinois - suspect 3 94 Michael Okwo LB Stanford - gone 4 130 Josh Beekman G Boston College - seems good 5 167 Kevin Payne SAF Louisiana-Monroe - good 5 168 Corey Graham CB New Hampshire - decent 7 221 Trumaine McBride CB Mississippi - fair 7 241 Aaron Brant T Iowa State - gone? 2006 - Chicago Bears - 4 good, 1 fair, rest gone Rd Sel # Player Position School 2 42 Danieal Manning FS Abilene Christian - fair 2 57 Devin Hester DB Miami (Fla.) - great 3 73 Dusty Dvoracek DT Oklahoma - good 4 120 Jamar Williams LB Arizona State - good 5 159 Mark Anderson DE Alabama - good 6 195 J.D. A bargain! (Compared to what Benson stole from the team...)

You sound like many of the players after week 1, popping the Champagne corks way too early... Here's a good read.... http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...,1975472.column So far, not too bad. I'm very pleasantly surprised. As easily as we could be 4-0, we could have been 1-3. Botton line, we're a 500 team right now. Seems to me a lot of internet prognosticators were fairly correct... I recall reading a ton of 8-8 predictions. The jury is still not out on Williams...to say that Jerry is out of the woods on that pick isn't quite correct. He sure as heck gets credit for Forte though. But given that we just let go of Bazuin, Bradley and Owko...I'm not sure how glowing his past picks were. I trust no one in the organization other than Toub. But winning sure is fun regardless!

Seems logical to me...
