  1. Not true. Olsen and Ron Turner managed the Bears into a loss. Olsen hold onto the pill and we win. Regardless of the QB, we still need to find a #1. Orton will manage the shop well, but he's not the answer. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm starting to see that he can't quite get it done. But, I want to give him the reigns for the season. So far, he's doing what is expected. Hold the fort, move the chains, don't make the big error.
  2. Agreed! I didn't understand the no challenge on that at all!
  3. Agreed. Forte should have been fed the ball on 2nd, 3rd and 4th if need be. I am thoroghly disappointed. I still retain my prediction of 7-9 for the team. They will do well enough against bad teams and lose to good ones. But I do think they will be in every game as long as Mike Borwn holds up...he seems to always be the glue.
  4. Orton will be our back-up for year to come. I like him in that role a lot. As a starter, he will do just what he did. Enough to win if we don't turn the ball over. If Olsen holds onto 1 of 2 of those fumbles, we win or at least go into overtime. Orton will not win a game, but he won't lose it. Orton didn't lose the game. Our playcalling and Olsen did...
  5. I think it's pre-mature to say that...but I can'e xpress how disappointed in him I am. OK, it happens once...but twice? That's just inexcusable. I personally think he should be benched for a game and let him figure out how to hold onto a ball one week. Clark can hold the fort just fine. But I'm just irritated at the moment.
  6. I love the kid. He brought it agasint a stacked line. He amassed amlost 100 yards agasint a really good D knowing we weren't going to pass well. I'm thinking he just may be the steal fo the draft. Many others watching the game w/ me who are not Chicago fans, were saying the same. Plus, he looks alot bigger than I really thought he was initially. Maybe it's the shoulder pads that are throwing me...they aren't like Hershell Walker's set! I'm very excited to have him playing for us.
  7. Yep...it's just bad. I saw more of the same timid calling in the 2nd half playing not to lose (win).
  8. At least it's really only in the beginning of the track...and agreed that one is the worst. And yet, it still does manage to rock in the end.
  9. It is amazing! Heck, I've hated the band ever since they popped things up with Load and re-Load. Then St. Anger seemed like they wanted to rock, but kept throwing too much sing-songy garbage in each cut. If I want sing songly stuff, I don't need Metallica to do it! I want pure metal, and that's what the new album offers! Rick Rubin did a phenomenal job of getting them back to the old sound. Bob Rock has been crippling and enabling them for years! It's so rereshing! I cant get it our of my car! People next to me wonder what this bald man in his sedan is banging his head to! Good luck with the cover! That jam had a lot of chord and tempo changes! I dabble in the bass, and the only thing I can cover are Ramoes jams! I keep seeing visions of Bears linebackers past and present tatoo-ing opponenets to "My Apocalypse"!
  10. I swear this is more entertaining than a Comedy Central Roast!
  11. Anyone that gets riled up over Crackers comments, I can easily see why! He likes to get a rise out of people and baits his comments well! My dad has been a Libertarian for well over 30 years. Having been born in Lithuania, fleeing from Stalin's regime during WW2 as a child, he harbours a lot of anti-Communist sentiment. I think that the Libertarian viewpoint is almost the direct opposite of that. He found the philosophy through some early reading by fiction writer Ayn Rand and non-fiction writer Thomas Szasz. Szasz has some really interesting takes on modern medicine, especially phychiatry. He encouraged me at a young age to read everything and make up my own mind. I read into FDR, Kennedy, Lincoln, Eisenhower...and especially Jefferson. Early on, Jefferson's philosophies appealed to me most. So I kept going from there. But obviously, my dad was an influence. I come form the govt which governs least, governs best mentality. Unlike the pure Libertarian standpoint, I do believe we needs some public services, like roads, police, fire, military, etc. But I've generally found that whenever govt gets involved, they make things worse. The problem is that the machine is so large now, that eliminating so much is next to impossible. I'm more than happy to discuss Libertarian views, and my own versions of that here if you'd like. I just don't want to bore or make any one uncomfortable. I loved Ron Paul and was hoping he'd make more of a dent. He ran as a Lib a few times himself. Early on, I found McCain less threatening. However, he seems like such a war-hawk now trying to buddy up to the Bush Republicans that he scares me. I'm not thrilled Obama is talking tough on the Russians either. But I think he's doing it only to get elected and once in office, the rhetoric will ease up. One thing I do know, if a politician's lips are moving, they are lying. Including a Lib candidate. These guys don't get that far without bending the rules and such. I generally want the government out of my wallet and out of my personal life.
  12. Good points! I fully agree that our goverment needs a refresher course in the US Constitution!
  13. Hey, more power to ya! I was just commenting that you shouldn't be surprised by Drunk's comments... I've been a registered Libertarian since I was 18 and have voted as such every election except the last. I broke my rule of not supporting big government and voted for Kerry thinking that the lesser of 2 evils in the last election was truly significantly less evil. I wish he would have won... I will probably do the same this election. But, I gurantee McCain will not have my vote. I'd sooner write in Ron Paul... Keep in mind, when the Rep's claim they are for small goverenment, the reality is they are not. They are just for a small few running everything. No govt would actually be a plus...but with all the kick backs they give to corporate America, there is no chance for a Laissez Faire economy to thrive. Someone is always being given an advantage. I do agree that the Dem's need to get their balls back. I'm not a huge fan of Obama's (other than that he happens to be a Bears fan...), but overall I like the presence he will give the US in the national and international communities, and restore some semblance of respect to our country in the eyes of the world. Like it or not, this is a global world... We have to co-exist with tons of other countries. And, we need to clean up our own backyard before we go knockin' on our neighbors' door.
  14. Cracker, you crack me up! Your initial post was pure bait!
  15. Oops! I don't know why I thought he was younger... But still not that old I suppose.
  16. I liked this thread form last week... BIRGHT: P: Orton - I think Forte will have his hands full with the big CAR D line, and Orton will be forced to throw, and should do so intelligently with some success D: Mike Brown - I just see him having a big game. Punishing Moose downfield...making a big play. Something. ST: Gould - Good as gold! DIM: O: Tait - I hope he can handle the prssure of the pass rush and open hols for Forte. I'm still worried. D: Vasher - Is he losing it? Did he just whiff the first game tackling? COunt me just as concered. ST: no worries! Even if Hester is out, we should do just fine!
  17. I await the debates. All we're hearing is a lot of "ra-ra" since the conventions from both sides. I want to see how each repsonds to tough questions about actual issues. I have a feeling the tide will shift heavily one way or another after that. It won't mean one or the other has better aswers, but how those answers are perceived by the viewing public.
  18. I hear ya...but there appears to be some hope to get him back, maybe pick up a young guy in Tauscher in FA next season, use the draft...and cross our fingers!
  19. I read about their TE being possibly out... Didn't know about the others. Thanks for the update!
  20. It is oddly shaking out well at the moment!
