I think Booker is better. Not sure about Lloyd. He's really shown nothing in the NFL. Parker has shown some signs. Agreed.

Thanks for the first hand post bradjock! I think I would have had to been escorted out from the profanity tirade I would have screamed when Rex bobbled another snap! I really would love to see more of Hass... Glad to hear about Bennett... Maybe we will see Booker, Lloyd, Bennett, Hass and Davis as our 5 WR's. Unless the team and Hester can come up with a deal soon enough...

Good points Pix! I could see that... However, one thing I've really been thinking about is a fear of him getting injured. He's a pretty small guy that has been known to get pretty whallopped... I wonder if it stems from a fear of getting injured to a point he can no longer play. Get the money now... I have a feeling the truth lies in the middle.

At 1:58, I'm truly feeling ill.... At 3:45, I'm feeling a bit better.

I save the worrying until later... Anything coming from Lovie usually is mired in so much smokecreen...

http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune....-camp-da-1.html Bears camp: Day 2 Bears fans, welcome to our running blog from Bears training camp. The posts are from Tribune reporters Vaughn McClure and David Haugh. Let's go ... 3:45 p.m. Bears general manager Jerry Angelo, sitting at the ESPN 1000 radio both here, said Devin Hester will be rewarded and that the team understands his value. Angelo also said rookie tackle Chris Williams will be "fine" after Williams left practice today with back stiffness. "Nothing to be overly alarmed about," Angelo said of of the team's first-round pick. 1:58 p.m. You can imagine the reaction after Rex Grossman just fumbled a snap from center. 1:45 p.m. The Bears signed Ryan Grice-Mullen, a receiver out of Hawaii, and cut fullback J.D Runnels. 1:41 p.m. Rookie left tackle Chris Williams walked off the field under his own power. It appeared to be an injury to his lower back or right leg. 1:35 p.m. The biggest buzz of the day was created a minute ago when Rex Grossman hit Rashied Davis with a nice deep ball. "Make it sing, Rex," a fan yelled. 1:33 p.m. Just a minute after Mike Hass soared through the air and snagged a pretty pass from Kyle Orton, Orton lofted an ugly ball down the opposite sideline that was picked off by Hunter Hillenmeyer. 1:04 p.m. Williams left the practice field with what appears to be a back injury. 12:33 p.m. Although newly signed running back Kevin Jones is on the physically unable to perform list, he's on a side field doing light running as his right knee continues to heal. Jones had surgery on his ACL last winter. Jones hopes his stint on the PUP list is a short one. 12:16 p.m. Day 2 of practice and still no sign of Devin Hester, who vowed not to return to the field until he gets a new deal. Cornerback Charles Tillman still remains out for personal reasons.

Ha! Although I'm certain he didn't graduate!

I agree, comparing Bonds to Hester is proposterous! Hester doesn't cheat!
-
I would...not that Turner would dare think of the 2 TE possibility. Why throw to the 2 best catchers on the team when we can come up with trickeration that only fools ourselves?
-
Good point. It is possible that he was just too green in college...and he's not a fast learner. Maybe given some time, he can excel. But you certainly do bring up some valid and interesting possibilities.

I think we just disagree... I look at great WR's as free desert. Nice to have, but only if it comes with the meal. Othewise it's too pricey for what you really get. Usually an upset stomach... (see Chad Johnson, TO, etc...) I look at QB as steak. You get a prime piece and you can add the lousiest sides to your plate, and you're still having a fantastic meal. I kind of throw RB and OL in there as well...but overall, I just don't have warm fuzzies of WR's over QB's. I'm a bit in shock you're so satisfied with our QB's...but maybe they'll prove me wrong. I still have some hope for Orton, but I just can't think of all the Tums and Rolaids I will need if Grossman is our guy yet again...
-
I didn't think of that...but I was basically playing in Fantasyland here anyway!
-
1. True enough... 2. I kind of put it up there in some jest. I was thinking that he keeps doing it, then pulls up once in a while,etc... But I'm not sure our coaching staff can handle anything other than "go deep"... And at least it makes more sense than pounding Wolfe up the middle...
-
Playing Devil's advocate...do we sign him to put fear into Hester? And dump Bradley aftewards who can't stay healthy...
-
On a side note...we just need to send him long on every play and pull at least one CB and S away from the play. The moment the stop covering him, we throw it deep... One in a whle we do an end around... Other than that, fly away!
-
Hester for Quinn and their #1! I'd settle for that in a heartbeat... Agreed, WR's are easier to come by...and if we look at SB winners, not as integral as a great QB... Bottom line, until we get it right, we should keep shooting for a QB!
-
I do hear you. I'm honestly not sure what our feeble offense will be able to do with him on O. Our coaching has been average to horrific. Our QB play has been average to horrific. Our WR play has basically been poor. Our OL is a bit chaotic, and our running game is suspect. The only real bright spot are the TE's. Everything is a mystery that leans on bad. I fully agree that I don't see hester breaking out under those conditions... But, I still think we darn well should try. And think the guy needs a serious pay raise. I also agree that if we do trade him, we better darn well get compensation. I liked (I think it was) Bearsdabomb's idea of getting a #1 pick, a #1 WR and some other picks for him... Something now, and something for later... But I just want Hester to be a Bear. Sadly, I could just see getting ten 7th round picks for him...
-
I still don't like trading him, but given your deals, I wouldn't be in a depression over it! But why ask for a WR? Why not a QB?
-
I could not disagree more. You're giving him away... He's is worth potentially 2 firsts. He's a proven commodity as a return man as potentially THE BEST EVER... and he has an uspdie as an offensive weapon that is untapped. Could you imagine what a good OC could do with him? Before we start jumping to all kinds of conclusions...I'm willing to let this play out a bit. Hester has called Angelo's bet. Angelo says he won't deal with holdouts, and Hester is holding out. So, we'll see who flinches in this game of chicken first. I truly believe it will be worked out. It's just a matter of when and at what cost (not just financially, but at a cost of his and the team's development).
-
Agreed! We can certainly argue what the price should be given all the unknowns of the WR element...but for a potential hall of famer return man, $1.5M a year is beyond a bargain!
-
Thanks nfo! 2. I have heard the same from a few freinds as well! Words of wisdom! 3. I figured I saved money on getting the direct ticket vs going to bars...and the savings should help defray shopping costs!
-
I still wouldn't trade him... I'm attempting not to let emotion get into this. His talents are too valuable. We'd be lucky to strike that gold in the draft one out of 10 drafts... I think calmer heads will prevail...
-
Thanks pix! She actually does not care for football in the least, but supports the Bears! So I'm left alone all Sunday...which usually costs me a little bit of a shoppping bill. (Which I'm usually happy to pay!) She only watches on occassion when there is a mixed party and nopt just the fellas hanging out. Ouch! Hopefully he's a stand-up guy other than his miserable choice in football support!
-
Thanks! ...if we have kids, as even though we're both in out late 30's, we still have mentalities of 13 year olds! But I am personally leaning towards "Walter" if we do go that route! I think that should keep my balls intact...

Much thanks chitownman! I had FAR too good of a time! I just took the last of my out of town guests to the airport today... So I have a few days of work in the salt mines before full on relaxation in Mexico! I need it bad!
