  1. Pix, I'm in! Thanks again for doing this!
  2. Agreed! Thanks Knighni! Good idea prohpet! I do think given the pool of responders, there's probably a tinge of favoritism going to cetain sports/teams... Dividing it by catagory may give us a clearer picture.
  3. I'll be away from the board enjoying some grillin' and chillin'... (It'll give nfo a chance to pile up arguments against me!) Anyway, have a great Memorial Day weekend everyone! Cheers and best wishes!
  4. I still disagree... 1. Leinart did do that...but was dumb enough to have people take pictures. Nothing is fail safe. But he certianly has less chance of a slip up doing it there than if he were doing so at a public fountain. 2. You're arguing semantics... The chief point is that a private place was set up to keep generic eyes away. They didn't rent out a public park and throw down. Much worse was going on there than what Benson is being accused of... But the point I was making is not specifics to the exact goings on at the White House, but that the element of setting up a "safe house" will keep prying eyes away better than partying up on a public lake. 3. Again, I think you misunderstood my point with the White House... It's the idea of a safe house. My freinds do it all the time. Poeple come over to one house, we drink a lot, eat a lot, tell nasty jokes our wives wouldn't like, smoke cigars, and crash or get a cab home depending. If we were to do similar in a bar, odds are some yahoo would take offense, fights would ensue,etc... It's safer to do certain things in private. That's the point I'm making. And yes, it's applicabile to the White House. While the goings on there were far more intense...the generic idea is still the same. Keep things to yourself. And let's be honest...what the heck was his mom doing there? Did anyone not see the parade of floozies and brews all over the place? Maybe it wasn't Ced's brew, but it was there. Nothing legally wrong with throwing down while you mom is there looking at the scantily clad girls. But for me, that's just a bit odd. I'd rather take mom to brunch.
  5. I guess, I'm just not seeing the step up. Talk is cheap... Unless I hear an offer is out there, I don't think the Bears are stepping up. Yes, we do know the norm, but this is not a normal player we're discussing. Maybe I am mis-informed, but there are legit negotiation going on? I wasn't aware. Sure, we can all play hard ball with one another...but I do believe it will work itself out. I just would like to see it done sooner than later personally...
  6. I do hear you...but as a public figure, Benson should have known there can be consequences from doing things in public. Right or wrong, if he would have just bought a big pool and invited the fllozies over, this would have been a non-issue. As I mentioned in a different area...even the notorious partying Cowboys of the 90's were smart enough to set up their "White House". Keep is out of sight and out of mind. That's simply the price many celebrities pay for being well compensated and in the public eye.
  7. So true! Honestly, many of my freinds (most whao are not Bears fans as I now live in LA), feel the same. It's the arrogance of NE that really puts them off. They give the appearance of just thumbing their nose at the league. Great analogy! (Some would even say its applicable to Benson's situation...) I love partying as much as the next guy...but couldn't I just buy a big pool with all that money and not have to worry about being on public property? Even the Cowboys of the 90's had their "White House"... Use some semblance of staying out of public view. It's the price you pay for being well compensated...
  8. We've never seen the likes of a Hester...EVER! It's a gamble. I say it's a good one. Better than giving lots of money to Ricky Manning Jr's, etc... History wasn't on his side when he returned all those kicks the last 2 years either... No one has done that before. I'm willing to to chance some loot on this guy. Nothing's guaranteed in this league... This to me seems as good a gamble as any. I expect a level of brilliance for years... It's not just his speed. It's his vision. He may slow down a bit and not get as many TD's...but I look at him as having as big an impact for this team as any single player on the roster. And, if he remotely pans out as a WR...the sky's the limit. The ceiling on this guy is almost unfathomable. Sure, there is a floor. But, as a fan, I want this guy locked up indefinitely. I don't think I ever said at all costs...but I'm not far away from that. There should be some sense of resonability...but for the most part...this guys is worth almost anything you pay him. With an aging Urlacher and not much else. He is all this team has as marketability. He will fill stands, sell jerseys, sell bobble head, will sell MCFarlane figures, will sell t-shirts, etc... Some costs have more value than the actual dollar amount being spent. I don't think going into frugal-mode is the answer for this guy. I've seen enough. Get him signed and happy. Again, he's outperformed his contract in a big way...we need to rememdy that in my opinion. There are certian things that are legal (ie. he's still under contract), and certain things that are just morally right (getting the man paid for his services!).
  9. Disagree with you disagreement! While I undersnatd your point...I simply think Hester is far too valuable. He's not Dante Hall. He's not Dave Megget. He's not Deion Sanders. He's Hester, and he's significantly better than all those guys! He gets more TD's than most other teams' WR's or RB's! He is not just a pro bowler...he is a hall of famer! You keep guys like that happy! I can see waiting...but also, I want a happy camper. He has outperformed his initial contract. He's due some love I think.
  10. "Joy" can't begin to describe how I feel after watching that! It's just just a thing of beauty! We are all so lucky to be able to watch this man play... We must do what it takes to make him a Bear for life. Damn the torpedoes...
  11. I think he's still in a haze...
  12. So far, he appears to be getting the message... But, I'll hold to my point and refrain from eating crow until we see him play in real games.
  13. I don't think the players will strike. However, I could see a lockout happening.
  14. We should just direct snap to Devin... Go man go!
  15. I do understand your point, and also know it goes on in numerous fashions, levels, etc regarding all kinds of businesses. But, I'll just agre to disagree. My view stems from my philosophical view on what government should and shouldn't do for it's citizens. Best leave this discussion to a political board, and not a Bears one.
  16. Good call. If they can get all that done, then the league would be better for it.
  17. Love it! I'm fired up!
  18. I just hope common sense prevails, and the cap returns. It needs to be changed...but not eliminated. And yeah, the rookie contract thing should be a slam dunk.
  19. Bottom line, this pick will either make or break Paxson! Best choose wiesly!
  20. Would you mind posting the summary of guys (just names/teams) on this board as well? Regardless, thanks! But, Bo Jackson? Shouldn't thee have been a stipulation that a guy had to play for more than a minute in Chicago?
  21. Fair enough. I apologize if I mis-understood your points...or maybe messsed up min a bit. ...my comment was really meant to say : "Our comversation is bordering on political...but overall...what you're saying (as the public losing money) has no right to that money. It is a priveledge. Wheraes our tax dollars, we can have a say in. Or at least in theory. I only intended your point to be that of the generic idea of the public losing money. Not that you agreed with me that it is not a right. Sorry about any confusion!
  22. With Borwn, I'm not even sure medical professional can explain why he's been so banged up. But, the bottom line is that he has. Whether it's dumb luck or something in his physical make-up...the injury gods don't smile on him.
