  1. I do agree... However, just having one's mom with them doesn't immediately mean one is acting correcting. I went to a Bears game with a guy a number of years back when the Rams were still in LA, and he was acting the drunk fool with his mom right next to him. We all calmed him down,etc...and nothing happened. But it was classless... I've also seen plenty of kid's fathers and mothers acting the drunk fool when at various games... Not saying this is the case with Benson...but it is possible.
  2. I think you said in a concise manner, what I've been trying to say...
  3. Kind of like how he rushes...straight forward, not much wobble.
  4. I do agree...it does create a gray area. But it's within that gray that poster here will help determine the needed action. If someone posts something off...another poster will comment, and usually an admin will either be alerted or will find out for him/her-self. Thus resulting in some kind of discussion as we've had in the past. Then after discussion action could be taken. Just a thought... If we want to go filters, I'll abide. No problem. I'm just not sure that really helps all that much. Bottom line, a warning sign should be up I think. Heck, people can booze up until they die...the warning is there. They can either choose to heed it or not. But, at least it is there, if anything, as a casual reminder. You can never prevent everything...but I think trying to house an environment that encourages good, funny thought without the need for flaming,etc...the overall goal is achieved. THis site is only as good as its posters, and I think everyone here here validates that and makes this a great place to go. Sometimes a few of us can go off in a bad direction every now and then...but maybe a casual reminder, etc can help curb that.
  5. OK, don't get me wrong, the humor isn't lost on me either... But I think you miss the gyst of what I'm saying...name calling, etc in a heated disrespectful tone comes off worse than a few F bombs of exuberation. The issue isn't the F bomb istself...it's the context. At least for me... So banning the word doesn't really stop bad form. Nothing really does. But a warning at least puts people in the mode that it's not encouraged.
  6. I'd presonally rather a warning sign be posted on the site. I don't have kids, but would rather have them see the word "F" than hear some guy threatening kick someone's ass. I think it's not so much the exact languange as the intent behind it. I htink a self-policing statement could curb much of the issue. That's just me. I think the filter is fine...I just would want it mentioned on the site that it is indeed happeneing, so that all posters are aware of what will be changed in their posts. That's why I think a statment of using common sense, etc... works. Becasue other posters will chime in and let that person know it's uncalled for. Thus alerting admins...and actions could be taken is problems persist. I'm fully down with whatever everyone would like though. Just my 2 cents worth...
  7. I still think that a note in front stating that profanity/etc... is strongly discouraged and could result in the possibilty of editing posts and ultimately banishment from the site... I'm not a legal guy. SOmeone else could come up with better alnguage I'm sure. I don't think anyone minds the occassional emotional outburst or comment...it's the hateful stuff that turns people off.
  8. I do disagree to an extent... I think you can request people not to swear and get at least some results... Sure, some people will probably cross the line, but most, when asked, probably won't. Those that continually cross the line will, I'm sure, hear it from those folks that don't appreciate that.
  9. Good strong point. I'm baswically in agreement. While I do thing it's stupid in the sense that I fear nothing will come of it...I still think it's wrong. I fully agree that they should have had to forfeit that game last year. I'd have a hard time making them relinquish SB's...but not would I be opposed. I don't think you could fairly give it to the losing team...I would just deem those Super Bowls scratches. But I would make the Pats' give back their minning $ to the losing team, etc... Or at least go to charity.
  10. It is stupid...but people don't just dislike the Pat's because of this. This just makes it even easier to dislike them. People generally hate whoever is better than them, they hate arrogance, and they hate that particular fan base in Boston.
  11. Agreed. But I still think the NFL will shoo this away and say that there's nothing new. After all, with no "old tapes", who's to say they haven't seen it before?
  12. I'm really hoping for the same... I know too little about Forte at the moment to supplant Cedric (but that could cahnge with the recent events and/or injury situation)
  13. I see none of that happening. I think the NFl wants this swept under the rug...
  14. I agree...self-policing should be the first attempt. Maybe some mention aat the top of the board to check yourself...
  15. I've heard the same... My buddy in Lubbock who travels all over the state is contactnly telling me of this...
  16. With all respect to the seriousness of the situation...that's the funniest thing I've read!
  17. Grizz....I think you're right. I have just been policing myself as I don't want to curb free speech from others. But I've noticed more profanity run through than in the past. I don't know if a filter is really the solution, but maybe an announcement or somethng at the top to keep it clean. Believe you me, I let 'em fly with my freinds, but in a social forum where there could be kids,etc...I try to crub my vulgarities. It's not nearly as difficult in wirting as it is in speaking!
  18. Now, that would be good news! I don't care how old that guys is, I bet he can still play...
  19. I understand... However, I personally have seen enough of Rex. I've seen not enough of Orton. I want to see that. Then, cut bait with who we need to...
  20. Personally, I don't like the draft choices that had character issues. You, it is a mixed message. But at least it's in the right direction... To say we're inconsistant in management would be correct. I know what you mean... Hwoever, as I've been reading more and more...it looks as thought this kind of "abuse" may be more common than thought. I will try to give the guy a bit of the benefit of doubt. But, as you say, I don't believe the entire angelic story either. YEah, Drake's comments do appear to have merit as I've been reading around...
  21. True. I forgot about Rhodes' past...I do not want him. Did I want Briggs? No. I was hoping to trade him for McIntosh and a draft pick. Didn't happen. Now, we've got him. And while his activity is suspect...it's not domestic abuse, etc... It's leaving the scene. Granted, bad...but horrid. There's no way the Bears are going to be squeaky clean, as no team will. But at least they can try. And as I said, we hold off until more facts come out. Bottom line, I think Benson is a bum. This is yet one more reason he should be out, preferably by trade. You may be right about more fact coming out after camp... let's be honest. If he were gaining 10 YPC, then it's a little boating fun gone wrong. But this is a bum guy, with this added on. It's not the end all, it's in theory the straw that could break the camel's back. All we can do is read what is reported. We know there is police abuse. We also know NFL players have been know to be bad guys. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle. Drake is going to stick of for a Longhorn and a team player regardless. His comment, while interesting doesn't make me feel one way or another.
