  1. If we get Flacco or comperable...I'll be more than OK with the Grossman re-signing. If we don't...I'm going to be livid. I certainly know why you'd say give Rex another chance, but I personally had seen enough. I felt they gave him enough rope to hang himself, and he did jsut that. I was screaming for a benching far earlier. I never understood why the coaching staff (Lovie) would not pull him in the 4th quarter when it was obvious Rex was flustered and getting anything done. I felt as though those quick pulls could have made some significant differences. Yet, there he was in there throwing more pics, fumbling more snaps,etc... I just never understood the reasoning. I never will. Those games were winnable with a change of pace. Sometimes that's all that's needed. And who knows, maybe it would have beene nough to give Rex a shot of reality. Please don't equate Rex with Eli, it's not fair to Eli. We had all those elements in place in the SB, and Rex failed miserabley. And Eli was a #1 overall pick...he is expected better and is better than Rex. Also, they key is that Eli has improved, not regressed. Also, when faced with pressure, Eli handles it far better. Res folds like a house of cards. And then snowballs into endless mistakes.
  2. I see your sarcasm, and I raise it one. I fully trust Lovie to do the right thing. I'm certain the job won't be given to him and it'll be an open competition the likes the league has never seen.
  3. I just threw up a little bit.... I completely understand why they did it, but I disagree. If we don't draft a QB that will be the heir apparent, the move will sicken me to unknown heights. Grossman only has value if we are grooming someone for next season. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over getting the same results, yet expecting different results.
  4. I feel your pain TD. I can't say I disagree with you...
  5. I have been readin in many other places that many so called experts are saying that this draft is fairly deep in OL. I'm sure Pit's putting a good spin on it, but I think there's some validity. But only time will tell!
  6. I think you could make the arguement, but I don't see it happening. In all the years Jerry's been here, we're not moved up once. We've only moved down. I see no real conclusive reason for that trend to stop barring some really unusual slide of a player.
  7. Why? It is still a possibility. Granted, not a probable, but it is possible.
  8. I've brought this same question up before... And really come to the same conlusion as yourself. The only thing that would make me think he'd come here is if the staff is yet again giving him the starting job regardless of what they tout in the media.
  9. The #7 is retired as it was Papa Bear's number! Go with 17...
  10. ...and that would be about double what he did last year!
  11. nfo, I think you and I are 100% on the same mindeset on this...
  12. To top it off, I think just about every position on this team needs to earn their starting spot in camp!
  13. BigDaddy, I follow your line of thinking. The Bears seem to really want (or need) Gorssman to be the man. However, I think his actions have shown that he is not. Many will, I'm sure, disagree. But I think Rex is an OK QB, but not one that you can rely on. When he was QB'ing during the SB year, he did well in a lot of games, mostly due to a great running attack and great D. When asked to actually do something, he failed in virtually every instance. I personally have had enough of him. I wish him well. He's been a good trooper. But I feel that this team won't go forward with him on the roster. Management will find some way to "give" him the job regardless of what they tell us about competition. I just want a clean break, as much as it would make sense to have him around in competition. The only way I'd really be happy with him back is if we drafted a QB in round 1 that will obviously be the successor. At least we know Rex would be the stop gap...
  14. My sentiments exactly... Thank you Mr. Borwn.
  15. I've not had a lick of time to check it out...I'm hoping the replay it since they seem to replay everything! I can understand why you're sad to see Moose go. While I personally think it's time to move on, I thought he did bring some stability at a time we desperately needed it. We can agrue over his influence,etc...but I will say that he always spoke well of the city and it's fans.
  16. Apply a straight income tax for eveyone... Just set a certain level, like under $30K, that doesn't get taxed to help lower income folks. Too many rich folks get out of paying any taxes what so ever with all the loopholes and shelters. Make it a straight 10% flat tax and call it a day. We'd save millions in IRS costs, legal fees, etc. All without screwing the middle class over. Sorry to get political...
  17. Keep in mind, you're basing your comments based on the current system. If the NFL kills the cap, you could very well see Jones, Snyder and others break banks to get the top players in the NFL. I would not put it past them in the least. Much of the issue surrounds the fact that teams like the Cowboys and Redskins generate more revenue than other teams, and they want to keep that money. If they get to keep it, odds are they will spend it. And make more...etc.
  18. Agreed. It's just reeks of common sense. However, it wouldn't surprise me if nothing happens.
  19. Everyone deserves the money they earn. If we, as fans, are willing to pay that, everyone involved should be paid. Hell, I'd be extatic if I could ever get a ticket for $100. Usually I'm buying $240 to get in. What makes it less painful than other sports is you only really have to do it 8 times a year potentially. And it's truly an event. But until fans lash out agasint it, it's only going to get worse...
  20. It is a scary thought. The league and the players really need to keep the darn cap in place, or this sport will become baseball. I have hope that calmer heads will prevail for the greater good of the league. If not, Goodell and Upshaw will go down as the men that killed pro football.
  21. And in all honesty...be in a better position to get a ring next season.
  22. nfo, I like your assessments! The overall key for me is how this coaching staff is using the talent. There are many unanswered questions. we get the company line from them...but I wonder what the reality is? Are some of these guys not getting touches because they aren't good, or is it because the staff is inept?
  23. I think sign or release. Tagging doesn't solve enough problems as you've mentioned. Overall I view it as, do we think this guy is a legit #1 WR. If we do, we should sign him. If not, we should let him go and get help elsewhere with a veteran and in the draft.
  24. I don't have any issues with the Bears talking to these guys, but I do see your point. I would really be surprised if Briggs stays...but I fear you may be correct in thinking they have concern about Urlacher. But maybe it's just cursory concern...
  25. I've like Mendenahall for a while. I personally would rather have him over about any player on offense for the 1st round depending on how it shakes out.
